Chapter 25 Returning To The Forbidden Street
And once again, all of this was possible because of this mysterious person he had teamed up with.
Every minute that he spent with Shadow King, he felt like his life was going to change.
"What do we do next? Should we go to the missions counter now? A rare class, I want to see the changes that it can give me." Myriad Arrows rubbed his hands together.
At level twenty now, if he got this rare class, then he definitely would qualify to become a ranker. But Jake had more hopes for his man.
He knew that Myriad Arrows would eventually come across a much better class a few months later, and accept the class change.
But a few months later, was a few months too late for Jake. He needed powerful companions now, so that he could build an empire of his own!
"Why don't we go to the forbidden street now? There should be so many deals that open up now, and it is better if you are prepared for what you might face in the class change quest. If the quest becomes time constrained, or does not allow you to prepare any further, then it will be troublesome would it not?" Jake suggested.
Myriad Shadows just nodded. At this point, he was willing to listen to this miracle maker.
They walked across the city and stopped at a familiar street once more.
Again, there was a huge swathe of people trying to enter the street. Among these thousands of people, almost every single one was rejected.
"You can enter." one of the guards said to a young woman. Then, the two behemoths of guards stepped aside and let her pass.
"So lucky. But it looks like our time is up. We should try later. If they let this person in, then it will take another day for someone else to have this chance." everyone sighed and started clearing this place, while a few others stayed back, hoping that their luck would turn here.
Jake and Myriad Arrows, meanwhile, knew that they would be allowed in.
Once allowed inside the forbidden street, it was common knowledge that they would be given permanent access to the place.
They just waltzed right in under everyone's noses. In fact, someone even recognized him.
"This guy is the one who had that conversation with the guards! He knows a secret about the forbidden street!" one of the players shouted.
Jake frowned, but he let go of that and looked at the guards.
"You are back? You may enter." the guards gave way, and the two entered this peaceful place, while the remaining players were stopped at the entrance.
"I should have waited until there were fewer people before I tried that. But gossip will always exist, and that entrance will never get free." Jake sighed and looked at the street empty of players.
"Where should we go now? Last time, we got a nice piece of equipment for me. We should get you a good armor and sword." Myriad Arrows suggested.
Jake just shook his head. Although his armor and sword looked like they were absolute trash, they were probably the best armor and sword in the entire game right now! He would be a fool to replace these.
"I am fine with these. Using them is a class constraint, and I can get a better pair if I try later. But for now, I should get a pair of boots, and a few support items that can give me a few buffs." Jake said.
Myriad Arrows saw how resoulte Jake was about this subject, so he did not force him anymore.
Jake started walking around the street and stopped at the other end of it. This was where the Duke's mansion was, and no one was allowed a while hundred paces from it.
Even Jake did not want to go anywhere near here. In the entire city, this was the true forbidden zone, and entering here was disrespecting the entire empire!
But right next to the mansion, was another tall building. Although it was eclipsed by the grandeur of the Duke's mansion, it was a wonder in its own right.
And on the building, were written the words, 'Flying Pavilion'.
The same Flying Pavilion that Jake used to enter the forbidden street. Now, he was actually going to enter it.
"This should be a good place. Last time, I did not have enough money to buy anything here, but this time should be better." Jake said as he walked in.
Unlike the bigger buildings all over the city, this building had no guards. Why would they? No one would dare to misbehave when they were right next to the Duke's mansion.
Walking in, they were greeted by bright lights and a charming young woman.
"A pity that it's just an NPC." Jake smiled and nodded at the attendant.
"How may I help you?" the attendant asked politely.
"We are here to buy a few pieces of equipment. What are the best ones you have?" Jake asked as he looked around.
Although there were no guards outside, this was still a big shop, and there were presences behind every curtain, making sure that no one would dash out with any item.
Of course, Jake couldn't exactly see these presences. He only knew they existed because of experience. Meanwhile, Myriad Arrows fell right for it.
"There is not a single guard here! What if someone tried to steal anything?" he asked.
"Haha! They know that people like you exist. Don't try anything funny, you'll just put both of us in trouble. Follow the rules and you should like what you see next." Jake smiled.
"When is the next auction, by the way?" he asked the attendant.
"The next auction? Auctions are only reserved for people with purchasing capability of more than twenty gold coins." the attendant shook her head.
"So then, when is it?" Jake asked regardless, to the dismay of Myriad Arrows.
"Two months later."
