Chapter 26 New Boots
"I see. That is going to take a while then. I will wait for that." Jake nodded as they stopped in another room.
Myriad Arrows' jaw dropped as he saw the items behind the glass counters in this room.
"Epic, Epic, Rare, Epic, Rare, this is just impossible. How are there so many Epic items available here?" he shuddered.
"Good Boots. Epic Grade ones." Jake asked.
The attendant went behind the counter and opened one of the glass doors, taking out a shining pair of boots. Looking at them, Jake frowned.
"Do you have a pair of boots that are at the Epic grade but look like they are common ones?" he asked.
"As you wish. The Flying pavilion has everything that you can want." the attendant sweetly said and swiftly disappeared, leaving the two alone in this room, with equipment worth more than all the money that was currently in circulation!
"All this equipment." Myriad Arrows' mouth started watering as he looked at a pair of gloves on one of the windows.
"Your eyes are quite impressive. Going straight to what you need. Those are Epic grade gloves. You should be able to afford them, but you will lose all of your money. All ten gold coins worth." Jake said.
"Ten gold coins? For one Epic class equipment, I just need to work for one day? How does that work?" Myriad Arrows wondered out loud.
"Who said that you just need to work for one day? You may have gotten two thousand sword beaks, but you wouldn't have gotten the thousand silver coins if it weren't for a good bargain. And eventually, the price of the beaks would decrease, until you earnt almost nothing from them. We have to find the right profit at the right time. We are just lucky that we have enough money for a piece of equipment that is Epic grade already." Jake clarified.
"Then I should upgrade my bow. This bow might be good, but an Epic class bow should help me much more." Myriad Arrows decided.
"You can't afford one. A bow will cost ten times the cost of those gloves. And that is the minimum. Do you think that you can buy Epic equipment that easily? That bow is quite good, and the gloves will help you increase your attack and attack speed a lot." Jake pointed out.
"The boots are here, customer." the attendant returned and put a pair of boots on one of the counters. Looking at them, for a moment, Myriad Arrows doubted that he was looking at Epic class equipment at all! They looked like scrap material.
Then again, so did all of Jake's equipment.
"Wait, do you do that with all your equipment? Is all your equipment secretly high class?" he asked.
"Well, some of it is. I mean, I can't afford a good Epic class sword yet, or even armor, so these are not Epic class." Jake shrugged. Technically, he wasn't lying. His sword and armor were not Epic class. They were legendary pieces of equipment. But would Myriad Arrows really think that his companion sported the best equipment in the entire game?
Obviously, he just thought that they were Rare equipment that was disguised as useless common class equipment.
"I like these boots. The rust matches my armor. I will take them. How much do they cost?" Jake asked.
"Throw in those gloves as well and how much do they cost?" Jake asked, pointing to the gloves that Myriad Arrows was salivating at a few minutes ago.
"Those are twelve gold coins, customer." the attendant said.
"Round them all off to thirty coins?" he said. This wasn't a question though. His tone was dominant, and he looked like he was forcing this.
The attendant hesitated for a second but then nodded.
"Give her your silver coins." Jake looked at Myriad Arrows. For some reason, Myriad Arrows felt like he had to do this. He automatically gave all the money that he spent so much time earning, to the attendant. Jake also handed her the money but in a pouch. After all, showing that he had twenty gold coins in gold coins would frighten his partner.
By putting it in a pouch, which was an in-game item that did not budge even when a lot of coins were put in, no one would know.
"Thank you for the purchase, customer. The two items will be sent to your inventory." the attendant smiled, and the boots as well as the gloves behind the window disappeared. It was as if the attendant knew which item had to go to which person. Jake received the boots, while Myriad Arrows received the gloves.
"Nice doing business with you." Jake nodded in return.
Then, they left the building, back to the forbidden street.
For a whole minute, Myriad Arrows' soul left his body as he looked at the Epic Class equipment that he had just come into possession of.
But when he came back to his senses, he looked at Jake with shock.
"You have twenty gold coins worth of money? How rich are you?" he asked.
"Unlike you, I bargain a lot. So I did not lose as much money as you did. Maybe you could be as rich as me if you started bargaining and stopped falling for the words of these merchants." Jake shrugged.
Again, this was only half the truth. He was so rich because of the insane treasury that he found, and probably more was waiting for him if he ever returned to that kingdom.
"Fine then, we should go now. We got enough from here." Jake laughed.
"But why did you pay that much for the boots. They cost that much just because of the blacksmith that made them? Why would you want them? They mean nothing to us." he asked.
"Well, why wouldn't it? If I ever want to meet this blacksmith in the future, it would help if I had his works on me, wouldn't it?" Jake smiled.
