Chapter 24 Synergy
Silversword Fields,
Jake and Myriad Arrows were in the middle of these grass fields that seemed to last forever. And the only ones in these fields other than the duo were the sword flies.
A species exclusive to the Gaia.
Over the last day, all the two did was grind. Killing any sword fly that came by them, they did nothing else.
With Myriad Arrows behind, his arrows pierced the flies and did the brunt of the damage, while Jake made sure that none of the flies got anywhere near them.
It was a perfect duo. Although it forced Jake to become a tank, it was enough for him at the moment. Myriad Arrows' new bow did enough damage for Jake to take the back seat now.
Ping!
Both of them looked at each other. Jake knew that Myriad Arrows finally hit the big milestone.
"You finally at level twenty?" Jake asked.
Myriad Arrows nodded and started checking his stats.
"Fine. Let's see what level I am at." Jake also checked his profile.

After getting to level ten, Jake suddenly unlocked a skill that was exclusive to his job. It was called Despairing Strike, and it showed Jake why a legendary class was a legendary class.
"I should assign those free stat points." Jake thought to himself as he glanced at Myriad Arrows. For the last twenty four hours, all they did was fight.
And making a team certainly helped Myriad Arrows. The output increased more than four times, and he was able to level up much, much faster than without Jake.
"Shadow King, I am done now. I have to go to the missions counter and change my class now." Myriad Arrows said.
"I see... I also have nothing to do now. Mind if I join? We are technically rich now that we have so many raw materials. I think I should get some good boots." Jake said.
The number of Sword Flies they killed probably exceeded three thousand! A pity that he did not get any title for his. Obviously, he had no need to equip his title, fox hunter, for something like this.
"Sure." Myriad Arrows nodded. This man did seem to know much more about this virtual world than he did, and having an experienced person like that was useful.
Also, seeing his gameplay for the last day, he knew that he was with an expert. Even though he dealt most of the damage, Jake made the most important plays, and at the frontlines at that!
Jake made sure that not a single sword fly reached Myriad Arrows, which was more important. That meant that he could focus on attacking instead of staying alive.
"Come on then." Jake nodded and they two started walking back to the city. The city gates stood high though. The name of the city, Diffast, was written majestically on top, for everyone to know.
There were a few who just couldn't afford to use a transportation portal, and they usually used the roads between two cities to get to another city.
Obviously, this was not time economical, and in a world that was as important as the real one, no one would want to waste even a single day.
They stopped at the city gates, where the city guards took a look at both of them. The two NPCs were only symbolic until much later, when the first true update to World Online would come.
"That will come much, much later though." Jake dismissed the mere thought and entered the city calmly.
The moment that they entered the city, the sound of people talking, arguing, and just existing, hit the two hard.
They walked to the nearest shop and calmly waited for their turn to come.
"How can I help you, customers?" the merchant smiled.
"We are here to sell a few materials," Jake said.
"Which ones?"
"Sword fly beaks. Hard as steel, sharp as swords." Jake took out one and put it in front of the merchant.
"Indeed, these are good items. One silver for ten of them." the merchant said.
"Do you think that I will fall for his daylight robbery? One silver for each beak." Jake raised his voice.
"That is too much. The Silversword fields are right beside the city. Sword Fly beaks will soon be in excess. One silver for ten beaks is the most that I can give." the merchant shook his head.
"Who will give you the beaks? It will take two weeks for a good flow to start. I can go to anyone who wants a faster start. Who wouldn't want to get the sword fly beaks before everyone else?"
The merchant stopped for a moment and sighed.
"One silver for five beaks."
"For two."
"Deal."
"Good." Jake nodded, and he looked at Myriad Arrows.
"This is the best deal we can get for the beaks. You should just unload everything you have right now," he said and dumped all of his beaks on the table at once.
"One- one thousand five hundred beaks?" the merchant looked at this, shocked.
He certainly did not expect business of this scale. No one would be able to bring so many beaks for the next few weeks. He would be able to get a huge profit because of the brief monopoly he would have.
"Here are mine as well." Myriad Arrows dumped his beaks as well.
"Two thousand?!!"
