Chapter 29 029: Olympic Escape Of The Century
Cole chucked another grenade up into the air, scoffing as most of the Nijat aliens in the vicinity flew away, trying to evade the explosion that was sure to come. Except of course the said explosion never came as the grenades went up and fell right back into his hands. This time he pulled the pin and threw it, the aliens had spread out making their ranks thin enough that barely any damage would have been down if he had thrown the Grenade, but forcing them to move back, clustering in a particular area was all he wanted, the smile on his face unshaken as the grenades went off.
*BANG!*
This time he had thrown the grenades close to where his crafted where, and as he tried to get a closer look at them, his vision was somehow able to zoom in, noticing that they were all still safe. He rushed forwards, jumping into the air and using the [Spectral Charge] to cross the distance. It was almost as if he was flying as his body crossed 3 meters forwards and he utilized the skill again, getting close enough to a flying disk carrying a single alien. A quick 3 second use of [Sin Eater] saw him jumping up and using [Spectral Charge] again and then against, his form flitting through the air like some sort of ghost, going through bodies and being intangible enough that most projectile just went through his body.
Unlike the physical aspect of wild charge that pushed an opponent back stunning them for a few seconds, spectral Charge was more of a movement skill that negated a certain amount of damage while he was using it, and when you stack that negation with all of the bonuses from his armor, then with his speed Cole was almost invisible. However Titan Rising Online had it's own rules, should an energy beam of any sort touch him, then Cole would probably experience pain that would make him cry for his mother, or eliminate entirely.
He didn't need to see the skill description to know just how bloody dangerous this skill was when he was battling off against attacks that were energy based. Perhaps magic would have a little bit of an effect, but still, he had to be careful and time his charges properly. He ended up on a large hover-truck, three Nijat aliens on it. Cole didn't stand on ceremony as he pulled out his blade and ducked under a wild grab, going in between the legs of one of them to come up behind it.
He smashed upwards, sending his blade digging into the crotch of the alien in front of him, ignoring it's shrill screams, Cole blasted [Gravity] towards the third alien, forcing it to step back and fell over the truck, it's head smashing into the seats below and splattering them with gore and blood. Cole turned just in time to receive a wild punch to the head from the Alien he had first evaded, his body was thrown off the truck as his mind became dazed.
But not for long though, his shielded mind passive seemed to not only just protect him from mental attacks, but from any sort of mental rebuff, so he wasn't dazed for long as he used [Spectral Charge] again. It was like a cheap teleportation ability, and while it wasn't teleportation per say, just him moving himself forwards at a faster speed in a specific direction, it got the job down as it sent him above the truck and right onto the head of the aliens that had just thrown him off.
[Sin Eater]
The Nijat alien's pained screech was nothing more than music to Cole's ears as he drained every last energy within it's twisted biology. Cole jumped off, after the right second mark, leaving the barely alive, an almost husk like alien laying on the bed of the truck as he moved forwards and stabbed his dagger into the massive head of the other alien with a stab wound on its crotch, putting it out of it's misery as Cole then sunk back into his [Invisibility].
He pulled out his sniper rifle, and whether it was by luck or just dumb stupidity, the Hover-disk carrying his targets came up besides his own truck. He squeezed the trigger blasting the head off one of the three aliens on the disk, shocking the humans on it. He sent another shot straight to the second, leaving a massive hole in it's chest.
[Lesser Mind Control]
Cole threw three different grenades in three different directions and made sure to leave one in the bed of the truck he was on as he jumped over to the next, keeping his [Invisibility] active. With just a single command the final alien that was the one driving the truck sled away, using the grenades as an excuse as many other aliens slow struggled to move away from the blast radius. Cole had the alien drive furiously for the entrance, as he counted the seconds until his energy ran out, completely unable to support his Invisibility. That long was reached in roughly the same time his mind control wore off.
So he stretched his hand forwards, touching the Nijat alien that was driving and activating [Sin Eater] in order to make sure his Invisibility did not run out. Then he reapplied [Lesser Mind Control] as the alien drive into the tunnel Cole had used to arrive to the coliseum. He deactivated his invisibility showing himself to the scientist and his family. All five of them have off startled cry at his appearance but all Cole did was.
"Shut up! You all better keep pretending you're prisoners or we're fucked! Now hang on!"
They made their way through the tunnels in no time at all, luckily enough for Cole there were no more patrols. He knew the rest of that army of aliens would be scouring the coliseum for him, he had perhaps 10 to maybe 20 minutes before they would realize that he had already left the coliseum, and even after that it would still take them a bit of time to discover which direction he had left in, unless of course they all chose to spread out, then things would be a little bit different.
But he would cross that bridge when he gets there, but for now, he had gained both targets of his fetch quests. Now all that remains was to somehow cross this ruined city and get them to where they were supposed to be without dying so that he could respawn. His trials were not over yet, but as it stands he had stuck it to the aliens, and he had only gotten stronger for it. Cole smiled, because he knew the moment he decided to pay attention to the string of notifications buzzing at the edge of his vision, he would never even more of a devil than he already was. He looked up…. Looks like they had gotten to the end of the tunnel.
