Chapter 30 030: Sienna Vector Entertainment
Sienna Corp had a couple of subsidiary companies that took care of quite a few other aspects of running a multi-planetary gaming empire. Either way, vector entertainment was a recent acquisition. The company was a small streaming platform for dedicated up and coming gamers who wanted to make their way into Cut throat industry of pro-gaming.
Out of the 5 million players chosen for Titans Rising final event, a 100 thousand of them had been given to vector now Sienna vector entertainment to observe and sift through for those players who would have the it factor to have a standalone streaming show of their own on Sienna Corp dedicated streaming platform for the event. It has been quite a hectic two days as the opening salvo of the event was crazy hard, and while it was rapidly being discovered that the Nijat aliens weren't as powerful as they had been originally portrayed to be.
But even at that there was a lot of them, quite a bit too and they were fully geared with armor and weapons, and while only 1 in a 100 of them had special skills and abilities, there was still way too many of them to be able to do anything. So far the NPCs and we of the players have been registering to create a raid group that would push back, and crate a path to the ports on the space station they were on, this should open up the path to the next level.
It was quite ambitious really, Sienna Corp was utilizing a raid/ war event is early and right off the bat too. It meant that they were invariably confident of the contents they had prepared and were quite sure they could meet up the demands of the players and the viewers.
Damian Erickson was an entry level worker at Sienna Vector Entertainment. He was one of those young fools who had big dreams to be the next great director in the entertainment industry. A modern reincarnation of the greats like Martin Scorsese and James Cameron and the Russo Brothers. Unfortunately while the universe had grown really large, and people shouted entertainment every day by the bucket loads without it even being enough, the entertainment world was even more cut throat now than it was back when it first began to pick up in the twentieth and twenty first century. Which was how he now found himself going through hours upon hours of game play, looking for the next great big thing.
Damian sighed to himself, this was not even his job as he was nothing more than a paper pushed for the company. But since the recent merger, there was a lack of staff going around so he had received an impromptu promotion. Not that what he was doing was any different, but at least he got to see people making a fool out of themselves. He was so bored that while he was going through the play through of quite a few players, he had used their footage to compile a trailer of sorts.
It wad quite good, but in the end there were already dozens of trailers out there, and while the fans done yet have access to streaming as that would only be up once the route to the second floor is up, it did not stop people from speculating. Of course he couldn't send this out, he would probably not just get fired but be put in jail for a million years, and with cryo imprisonment slowly becoming a thing, sentences could run for that long. Damian shuddered, the he paused.
What had drawn his attention was his trailer video, and even if he had watched it about a dozen time over, he had not even paid attention to detail. He would admit it was like a well made apocalypse movie, but who the hell was the African American dude riding a hover bike and dodging tentacles in the background?
Damian went back to his workspace and began looking through the list of players he had to watch over. They weren't much, just about a 100, but when you consider the fact that they had all been playing for the better part of two days, then that was a lot of footage to go over. But he found his target easily enough, extremely happy that he did as things would have been that much harder if he was not assigned to his work station, much less his floor, or even Sienna Vector as a whole and they were just one piece in the fog that was Sienna Corp's streaming services.
"Cole Night?....wait a minute! Cole Night! The Knight Of Midnight! Jesus!"
Cole used to be one of those child stars that crashed and burn earlier than most would expect. He was intergalactic Olympic grade athlete, and while many people knew he trained in martial arts, he was well known for his stint in the under 20 soccer championships. The kid was a monster with the ball, but after a few scandals too many, one of which included abandoning his betrothed in order for base after some college sports reporter. He had left the young lady standing in the rain, in the middle of a highway…. 15 minutes later she had come face to face with a drunk driver.
She survived, but she was now paralyzed from the waist down. It made matters much worse when you consider the fact that said lady was from an equally well known family…. At least in their part of the world. Vector Entertainment was operating out of the United Asian Republic, right in what used to originally be Myanmar. Cole Night had Asian ancestry, but he was on the other side of the world in Africa, either way, the news was so big it was making headlines for weeks, It came as now surprise then that Galaxy Wood canceled him soon after, honestly Damian was and still is amongst the people who believes he deserves it.
Cole's footage was not as long, there was a significant amount of time spent offline, and that was easily explained when the international news for the evening came up. Damian was shocked, and that more than piqued his interest as he made sure to watch everything, right up to the point where he had literally livestreamed Cole's battle against an entire army of Nijat aliens, just to save a scientist and his family. And while his actions against other players so far could be called into question, Cole was a monster, all those years of not utilizing his martial arts experience, he was like an avenger! Damian had found his ticket for he good life, if he was at least able to do it well.
So he went right back to the beginning, editing the videos, and adding his own flair to it. He even utilized his previous trailer, tracking down the few people in the vicinity that had seen Cole in action. It was by the hand of Providence that quite a few of those people had landed right in the palm of his hands, but it was crazy, everything was crazy! It was like watching a movie. Damien's only job was to find a potential talent and bring it up to his supervisor's attention and then go right back to sitting through endless footage of other useless players that were only just floundering about like headless chickens with no idea what to do!
He needed to make a presentation that would impress and get him the fuck away from here to doing something meaningful. Hopefully they would at least attach him to the team that would be working on the streaming show that would follow Cole Night, a show that Damian was so sure from the depths of his balls would be a big ass hit!
Damian could not help the crazed look and smile on his face. He had to be ready, because as soon as the first floor is cleared….. a new Star would be born. And they would probably need a new name for Cole than the Knight of Midnight, which was just a play on his surname. But be that as it may….. an Icon will rise.
