Chapter 25 Money Doesn't Discriminate
When Georges and Elio returned, they found a line of people wanting to challenge Aion. It seemed that he had already defeated five challengers in just half an hour without sweating. That was within their expectations, but they didn't imagine that some adults would pay for several kids to try to defeat him.
Unfortunately, for those guys, Aion had made preparations for that. He had planned to fight the kids in a fair and square manner, but then he used his free status points and improvement points to make himself a bit stronger. Since he was going to fight a lot, he needed that kind of boost.
In any case, when those two approached, they saw a kid armed with two shields trying to hit Aion and knock him down with his weight alone and by charging like a bull.
"Hahaha, just like you, Elio," Georges said.
"Shut up… I didn't use two shields," Elio said. "We shouldn't reveal our names. While not many people knows us, father must have told our names here and there."
Since the time their elder sisters went to the magic school, they have been invited to several parties with them. Only noble kids know who they were, with that in mind, they had no idea how people would react if they find their family name. Aion was in an even more complex situation since his mother was a war prisoner.
In any case, after a few more seconds, Aion targetted the shield of the enemy when it was right in front of his face and then made the guy hit himself in the face, knocking him down instantly.

Aion checked his class, while he was holding back, he still managed to level up the class. Usually, he would save the status points, but since so many people was underestimating him, he increased his speed and strength.
In any case, Aion is earning money pretty fast. Since Georges wanted to give him the old coin, perhaps it wasn't that much… From a noble perspective and considering the gear that they usually buy. Which was high level and brand new equipment. Meanwhile, adventurers mostly use second hand gear.
"What are the rules?" Another middle aged man asked after tossing a bag of coins.
"The fight only ends once one of the sides is on the ground, surrenders or you try to help your fight in any manner,," Aion said and then readied his spear. "Ready when you are."
The biggest boy yet approached to fight, it was hard to imagine that he was fifteen since he was almost 1.9 meters tall, but the guy had somewhat of an young face… Still, he was almost two times fallen than Aion and he had a hammer… even without a Blade, a hammer could be mortal.
Looking at Aion blinking several times, the boss of the big guy smirked. Soon enough, the big guy assumed his stance and then ran toward Aion. Since he was big and the hammer was heavy, he wasn't exactly fast. Still, when he swung his weapon down, that actually help him hit faster… the ground. The impact made the area tremble slightly.
Aion was already on the side of the big guy when the attack landed, he could attack from there, but in the end, he sure moved to back of that guy and kicked the back of his knees before he could fix his posture. Instant win.
Those who had any combat experience knew that being big and muscular also means that they are too slow, but only the youngsters around realized that.
The more time passed, the more the challengers lost confidence while looking at Aion fight. However, their bosses grew greedy as they saw Aion sweating more and more… Aion wasn't faking that, he was truly sweating while controlling his strength nor to break any bones of the targets.
In the end, since it was the day most people in the capital rested, not everyone went to the guild. Despite that, Aion fought around thirty kids and won agsisnt them, and earned three gold coins.
"Those morons didn't come today… They probably think that we exaggerated," Georges said.
"They will come the next time, the rumor will spread and bring more challenges," Elio said. "Aion, tell the lady to keep the poster there and telling that you will return in a week. Perhaps you should increase the reward for defeating you."
"That is a pretty good idea…" Aion said.
Elio sure had some good ideas. Meanwhile, Aion was considering what he could buy with the coins. He probably should save two gold coins and use the other to buy equipment to process and absorb.
Since it was only noon, Aion decided to check some blacksmiths and Georges and Elio guided him to the ones his father recommended. They were too high class for Aion, but he found some crappy items there.
Aion bought a bigger and larger sword, helmet, shield, gauntlets, and boots. All of them cost only fifty silver coins since they were the cheapest items around. Aion also decided to buy a golden and blue hairpin for his mother that had the shape of a butterfly. It seemed ironic given her position…
The shop owner knew Georges and Elio, so he asked who Aion was. When they told him, his expression barely changed, but Aion could see a glint of coldness in his eyes. Money was money… But Aion certainly wouldn't give his money to assholes.
