Chapter 29
C29 – Master
Understanding the essence of morality in the morning, one could face death with equanimity by nightfall.
Pill King Miao Hujin’s renown reverberated across the continent primarily for his exceptional pill refining skills.
Yet, the most crucial factor was his status as a Rogue Cultivator.
He was an apprentice Alchemist and a solitary Rogue Cultivator.
Through his extraordinary determination and relentless effort, he ascended to the title of Pill King, leaving the continent in awe.
His greatest pride lay in achieving this feat on his own, without the backing of any faction.
Despite his accomplishments, the Pill King faced uncertainty about his future path. He was well aware that without guidance, any hopes of further breakthroughs were nothing short of fanciful.
Encountering a mysterious Alchemist now presented an opportunity he was eager to grasp.
Miao Hujin’s refusal to align with any faction or acknowledge a master stemmed not from pride or detachment, but from the simple fact that no Pill Master in the world could best him.
Yet, this young man before him, despite their brief acquaintance, had utterly won his respect.
Identifying the Poison Dragon Pill’s toxin with just a glance was like something out of a dream.
“Please, stand up!”
Yun Haoyan was flustered to see his master kneel so abruptly and rushed to his aid.
He was, after all, the disciple. The thought of his master kneeling before him was preposterous and deeply improper.
Moreover, his master’s past life had proven to be a disguised blessing. Yun Haoyan would remain eternally thankful.
“Master Yun, I implore you to take me on. I promise to diligently learn alchemy and uphold your esteemed name.”
Pill King Miao Hujin, as if clinging to the ground, pleaded once more.
Yun Haoyan, with greater urgency, helped his master to his feet, proposing,
“Let’s do this: I’ll teach you alchemy, but there’s no need for formalities of master and disciple. Let’s consider it a mutual exchange of knowledge.”
“How could that be appropriate? With your formidable skills, what could I possibly offer in discussion? I ask you to accept me as your disciple, and I will spare no effort in my dedication to you.”
Despite his injuries, Miao Hujin was gradually assisted to a stand by Yun Haoyan.
Yun Haoyan found himself unable to win the argument with his master. He understood that Miao Hujin, the Pill King, was not the type to take advantage of others.
“Here’s a thought: you come over to my place and assist my family with pill refinement. I’ll teach you alchemy, and we’ll both benefit from the arrangement.”
Miao Hujin was momentarily taken aback. What was this all about? With Yun Haoyan’s capabilities, did he really need Miao Hujin’s help with pill-making?
Could Yun Haoyan not refine pills whenever he wished?
Seeing the confusion in Miao Hujin’s eyes, Yun Haoyan explained further,
“The thing is, pill refining isn’t exactly convenient for me. Given my strength, I often end up creating Perfect pills by accident. Trying to control the quality of the pills is quite exhausting.
“Plus, being as young as I am, it’s wise to keep my abilities under wraps. To hide my skill in alchemy, I need to maintain at least the appearance of a Divine Alchemist.”
This world was far from straightforward. Now that he had lost all his cultivation, he was merely a Martial Warrior.
Though his Pill God Body could briefly elevate him to the Martial Grandmaster level, that was insignificant on the grand scale of the continent.
“Alright… we have a deal!” Miao Hujin conceded after a moment’s thought.
What had the world come to? Yun Haoyan could inadvertently produce Perfect Pills, while Miao Hujin, despite all his efforts, struggled to do the same.
It was truly maddening to make such comparisons.
Miao Hujin felt like he had landed an incredible deal. Even though the young man hadn’t formally taken him on as a disciple, he was determined to fulfill the role in earnest.
