Chapter 22
C22 – I Want to Enter Class D
Bo Miaojiao gently leafed through her “Grimoire of Demon Spirits,” her gaze landing on a crimson orb of fire. Two dark voids adorned the orb, resembling the eyes of the fire spirit within.
As she called upon it, a summoning circle of the same fiery hue coalesced at her feet, the air around her warming noticeably.
A floating crimson fire spirit materialized before Bo Miaojiao. It darted into her arms the instant it appeared.
Bo Miaojiao instinctively embraced the endearing creature, surprised to find it not as scorching as she’d anticipated. It was like holding a cozy treasure, utterly soothing.
“Indeed, it’s a fire spirit.”
The teacher overseeing Bo Miaojiao’s awakening ceremony couldn’t hide her excitement at the Elemental Spirit’s emergence, her voice quivering with emotion.
Bo Miaojiao, too, couldn’t help but smile as she stroked the little fire spirit nestled in her arms, her joy at awakening an Elemental Spirit evident.
The tiny spirit chirped with delight.
“Congratulations on successfully awakening your Elemental Spirit. You’ve earned direct entry into Class A!” the teacher exclaimed, her face alight with enthusiasm.
She reached to note this on Bo Miaojiao’s record, but Bo Miaojiao cut in, “Hold on!”
“What seems to be the problem? Are you considering running for class president? Your fire spirit could certainly give that light spirit a run for its money. We didn’t expect such an abundance of Elemental Spirits this year. Perhaps we were hasty in deciding on the class president,” the teacher mused, a touch apologetically.
In times past, the awakening of even one Elemental Spirit was a rarity to be celebrated at Sacred Heart Academy. The immediate appointment of a class president upon the appearance of a light spirit was customary, but the subsequent emergence of an ice spirit and now a fire spirit was unforeseen by all.
“That’s not what I meant. I’m not the least bit interested in Class A,” Bo Miaojiao retorted, her lips pursed in disdain.
“What exactly are you trying to do?” asked the awakening teacher, his face etched with confusion.
“I’m going to join Class D!” Bo Miaojiao blurted out.
The teacher responsible for Bo Miaojiao’s awakening was utterly flabbergasted, his expression plastered with question marks. Had this woman lost her mind? She actually wanted to join the lowest-ranked class?!
No, that couldn’t be right. I must have misheard, he thought to himself.
Shaking his head vigorously to dispel the ludicrous idea, the awakening teacher asked once more, “Student Shen, I must have had some auditory hallucination because I didn’t catch that clearly. Which class did you say you wanted to join?”
“There was no hallucination. I said ‘D’ as in Class D. That’s where I want to go!” Bo Miaojiao replied, her tone laced with exasperation, emphasizing each word.
This young lady must be out of her mind. She was already assured a spot in Class A, yet here she was, insisting on being placed in the lowest tier. If that wasn’t insanity, what was?
“Teacher, are you even listening to me?” Seeing the teacher frozen in disbelief, Bo Miaojiao waved her hand in front of his face and raised her voice.
