Chapter 21
C21 – Fire Spirit Awakening
“I never imagined we’d actually end up as classmates,” Qin Hongyu said with a glance at Fu Tian, teasing him.
With a resigned smile, Fu Tian responded, “Guess that’s on me.”
“Next up, Bo Miaojiao!”
Bo Miaojiao’s name suddenly echoed from the stage.
“My turn at last,” Bo Miaojiao said solemnly.
“Hope you don’t end up like us,” Fu Tian said with a smile to Bo Miaojiao.
“Please, no more talking,” Qin Hongyu quickly interjected, covering Fu Tian’s mouth before turning to Bo Miaojiao with a grin. “We’ll be here waiting for your good news.”
Fu Tian put up a token resistance, but it dawned on him just how strong Qin Hongyu really was.
“Prepare for my good news!”
With those words, Bo Miaojiao turned and strode toward the stage. Unlike the others, she appeared calm and collected as she took her place at the heart of the Awakening Array.
“Ready?” prompted the teacher overseeing the Awakening ceremony.
After a brief pause, Bo Miaojiao nodded. “Yes, teacher, please begin.”
The “Awakening Array” began to glow, emitting a red flame—not merely a glow, but a real, intensely hot flame.
Above her, a tangible flame took shape, an intimidating sight.
“Is she about to awaken a Fire Elemental Spirit?” The teacher, surprised by the sight of Bo Miaojiao, took a moment to regain his composure before adding, “It looks like Sacred Heart Academy is in for a fortunate year—we’ve got a third Elemental Spirit!”
Typically, a battle spirit’s awakening is heralded by a specific color: blue for water, green for wood, and red for fire.
But the awakening of an Elemental Spirit is distinct from that of a regular battle spirit. An ordinary fire battle spirit would manifest only as a red glow, incapable of producing actual flames, unlike Bo Miaojiao’s manifestation of real fire.
The emergence of a tangible element—be it flames, water waves, ice crystals—signifies a certain awakening of the corresponding Elemental Spirit.
Yet, in the mere half minute before Bo Miaojiao’s turn, another had awakened Sacred Heart Academy’s second Elemental Spirit—an Ice Spirit, composed entirely of ice crystals.
In that moment, the attention of every teacher and student was captivated elsewhere, leaving Bo Miaojiao’s circumstances unnoticed by all.
Surrounded by a slowly coalescing aura of red flames, the fire above Bo Miaojiao began to fade, unveiling a crimson “Grimoire of Demon Spirits”.
The tome was a deep, fiery red, radiating intense heat. One could occasionally catch sight of tiny flames flickering out from its pages.
“Quickly summon your battle spirit. If all goes as expected, it’s likely to be a fire spirit!”
The teacher overseeing the awakening ceremony, upon glimpsing the Grimoire of Demon Spirits in Bo Miaojiao’s grasp, felt even more confident in his hunch and pressed her to proceed.
Bo Miaojiao gave a slight nod and, guided by her will, the crimson “Grimoire of Demon Spirits” gently floated into her hands.
