Chapter 134 The Legion Military Company
"I can take you guys out of the city. I'll send a route to your devices and I will keep you updated with the police's movements." Winter's words made everyone feel a bit relieved.
Khalon led the group while following the route sent by Winter.
"There is a police team up ahead. I don't suggest going against them since that would only complicate things. The Italian government might put you guys on the wanted list if you kill them. I'll send you another path to follow."
"You guys can't go to the airport. The Cassano Family is already waiting there with the police."
"I already called a mercenary company and asked them to fetch you at..."
"...they will deliver you to a secluded town in Sicily. From there, a boat will come to pick you up."
Arlan's group had to take numerous detours to evade the pursuit of the Cassano Family and the Italian police. If it weren't for Winter, they would have already been captured.
Arlan stared at Ben Hidalgo who was visibly out of breath from the non-stop running. Among the people in the group, he was the most worn out.
Arlan stared at Krizia and noticed that she was still doing fine. 'Good thing I gave her the Body Enhancing Serum...' He thought to himself.
"Are you alright, Mr. Hidalgo?" Arlan asked in a low voice.
Ben could no longer speak because of the exhaustion, but he still managed to shake his head in reply.
"Khalon, carry him on your back." Arlan commanded. Khalon was the most physically fit among them and he wouldn't have any trouble carrying another person with him.
"...Huff! Puff! That is unnecessary..." Ben grabbed his knees as he stopped for a moment.
Khalon ignored his words and carried him on his back. "Just stay still."
Ben was a bit embarrassed, but he knew that he would only slow down the group if he insisted. 'Nevermind...' He muttered in his heart.
The group increased their pace and they soon arrived in an open space.
"Just wait for them. They will arrive soon. I'll try to slow down the police by disrupting their communication."
"Are those mercenaries trustworthy?" Arlan asked solemnly. He was afraid that the Cassano Family would be connected to this mercenary company.
"You don't have to worry about that. I've already checked their background. They are not in any way involved with La Cosa Nostra. However, you might have to pay them a huge sum since these people are quite greedy." Winter replied in a cold voice.
"That's fine. I can give them whatever they want as long as they bring us out here." Arlan didn't mind paying a lot of money.
"I already sent half the money to them. I'll send the remaining half after they send you to Sicily."
"Alright. By the way, how much did they ask?" Arlan asked tentatively.
"100 million dollars." Winter replied.
Her words almost made Arlan trip on the road. 'What a rip-off...' He smiled bitterly. That amount could already buy a huge plot of land in Maharlika.
Soon, they saw four helicopters flying towards them.
"It's them. I already informed them about you guys." Winter said.
As soon as the helicopters landed, several armed men jumped out and walked towards them.
"Please surrender your weapons to us temporarily. We will return them once we arrive in Sicily." One of the armed men shouted in a serious voice.
Arlan furrowed his eyebrows upon hearing this, but he still chose to trust Winter's words. "Give the weapons to them." He commanded the group.
Khalon and the other soldiers handed their weapons to the armed men while eyeing them coldly.
After taking their weapons, a mercenary shouted. "Hop in. We don't have much time."
Arlan's group quickly entered the helicopters under the watchful eyes of the armed men.
While Arlan was observing the mercenaries, Winter's voice echoed in his ears. "This mercenary company is called Legion Military Company. Apparently, the owner is a former high-ranking officer of South Africa. He took in many retired soldiers from all over the world and he also trained a large batch of soldiers which now makes up 70% of his total personnel. They offer bodyguard services and also special operations services. I also found something interesting in this company..." Winter paused for a moment.
"Ten years ago, they took in 5000 African orphans and strictly trained them for an experimental super soldier program. The kids followed an extremely harsh regime which resulted in the death of more than 4000 of them. After the ten-year training, only 69 people survived and the company calls them 'Oorlewende' which means 'survivor' in South Africa. I'm not exactly sure how strong these 69 people are since there's no information about them in the company's database. I'll tell you after I discover more information."
Arlan was shocked by this. He never thought that someone would actually train 5000 kids to become super soldiers and with more than 4000 of them dying in the process, he could already imagine the hellish training they had gone through.
He also had the experience of a super soldier, but those kids were different. They had to go through rigorous training that could make even the most iron-hearted crazy.
After three stops and more than 15 hours of travel time, the group finally arrived in Sicily.
There were five Hummer trucks and more than a hundred mercenaries waiting for them at the landing area.
A mercenary patted Khalon's shoulder and told him while pointing at the company of soldiers. "They will take you to the port. Your weapons will be kept by them until you reached port." He thought that Khalon was the leader of the group so he relayed the message to him.
Khalon reacted calmly. "Let's go." He shouted to the group. He acted as if he was the leader to keep the mercenaries' attention on him.
The leader of the escorting party introduced himself briefly to Khalon. "I am..."
"... tell your people to enter the vehicles."
Khalon nodded his head.
