Chapter 21
C21 – Steel Pipe
Listening to the trio’s taunts, Qi Ning’s face remained expressionless.
He quietly used the AFK point he hadn’t yet spent on his combat skills.
“Ding! AFK complete!”
Qi Ning watched his combat skill level soar to 999 and finally felt at ease.
Truthfully, if his combat skills were merely at Lv 1, he wouldn’t have been confident facing such a crowd.
After completing the AFK, he felt a surge of strength fill his body, and his mind was now brimming with fighting techniques.
”Don’t just stand there! Get over here!” one of them yelled, pointing at Qi Ning.
“He’s probably scared seeing so many of us,” another chimed in.
The brash Zhang sneered, “I bet Mr. Pei scared him witless.”
“Weren’t you all high and mighty earlier today?” one of them said, stepping up to Qi Ning.
With Mr. Pei backing him, he was emboldened.
Pei Liang had intended to give Qi Ning a lesson today, but then he learned from one of his men that his brother had been bullied at school.
Since they were all at Sigu No. 1 Middle School, Mr. Pei readily agreed to help deal with the bully.
“What a coincidence!” Pei Liang couldn’t suppress a cold smirk upon seeing the three making a scene in front of Qi Ning.
“Speak up. You were quite the tough guy earlier, weren’t you?”
“We’re going to set you straight today.”
“Don’t get cocky just because you know a few moves. Let me tell you, Mr. Pei is not someone to mess with.”
As Pei Liang approached, he heard the trio’s flattery and couldn’t help but look pleased.
Qi Ning noticed that Pei Liang hadn’t come unarmed.
He and his cronies each wielded a steel pipe as thick as two fingers.
In these times, with firearms and knives regulated, steel pipes had become the go-to weapon for these thugs.
Pei Liang stood before Qi Ning, looking down at him with disdain. “You were quite bold yesterday. What’s with the cowardice today?”
Qi Ning remained silent, his gaze coolly fixed on Pei Liang.
One of the boys from Class 6 jabbed a finger at Qi Ning and barked, “What’s wrong with you? Are you deaf? Mr. Pei is talking to you. Don’t you hear him?”
The brash youth with the surname Zhang pointed at Qi Ning and taunted, “Weren’t you all high and mighty before? Why the silence now?”
The final member of the group jabbed a finger at Qi Ning’s nose and barked, “Apologize to us right now. If you don’t, you’ll be spending your evening in the hospital.”
Pei Liang stood by without intervening as they hurled insults.
He was waiting for Qi Ning to respond or to take action.
But to his surprise, Qi Ning appeared to be asleep, showing no reaction whatsoever.
“Are you deaf?” Pei Liang stepped up to Qi Ning, smacking his cheek with the steel pipe he held.
“He must be deaf,” Pei Liang muttered, his patience worn thin. He swung the steel pipe, ready to bring it crashing down on Qi Ning.
“Stop!” Just then, a thunderous shout rang out.
