Chapter 22
C22 – I’m Willing
Qi Ning turned to see Pang Yuejuan, fragile and delicate, clutching a brick in her hands, her cheeks flushed with excitement.
“What are you doing here?” Qi Ning asked, his brow furrowed in concern for Pang Yuejuan.
Truth be told, his heart warmed at the sight of her.
Her slender frame and the blush on her cheeks moved him deeply. That she would stand up for him in such a situation touched him profoundly.
Pei Liang’s eyes brightened when he saw Pang Yuejuan. Shoving Qi Ning aside, he strode toward her.
“You’re quite pretty!” Pei Liang remarked to Pang Yuejuan in a mocking tone. “Spend the night with me, and I’ll spare your lover. What do you say?”
Pang Yuejuan hung her head, murmuring softly, “He’s not my lover.”
Pei Liang burst into laughter. “Then why save him? I’ll be honest with you; even a deity couldn’t save him today.”
He leered at Pang Yuejuan with eyes full of desire.
Pang Yuejuan was undeniably beautiful, her simple attire only enhancing her charm.
“What?” Pang Yuejuan looked up at Pei Liang with eyes that almost begged.
Pei Liang smirked. “Unless, of course, you agree to spend the night with me.”
Pang Yuejuan’s face turned pale.
“Who asked you to come?” Qi Ning stepped in front of Pang Yuejuan, pulling her safely behind him. “This is none of your business. Leave now!”
Pang Yuejuan looked up, tears brimming in her eyes.
“I’ll do it, as long as he lets you go,” she said, her cheeks tinged with red.
Qi Ning felt a tingling in his scalp and shook his head at Pang Yuejuan.
“Fine,” she said softly, yet Pei Liang heard her clearly. A vile gleam appeared in his eyes. “Spend the night with me, and I’ll surely release him.”
Qi Ning paid no attention to Pei Liang, instead addressing Pang Yuejuan with a voice full of tenderness, “Please go. It’s going to get very dangerous here.”
“No,” Pang Yuejuan replied, her voice resolute and her face etched with determination. “I can’t let him harm you.”
Qi Ning touched Pang Yuejuan’s head with a look of resignation and chuckled, “Do you really think he could hurt me?”
Pang Yuejuan appeared utterly bewildered, rooted to the spot without a single movement.
Qi Ning’s gaze fell upon Pang Yuejuan’s face, a mix of irritation and affection stirring within him.
Pei Liang bellowed, “Today, I’m going to set you straight!”
Unperturbed by Pei Liang’s outburst, Qi Ning turned to Pang Yuejuan and said with a sigh, “It’s okay if you don’t want to leave. Just remember, no matter what happens, stay behind me.”
Pang Yuejuan gave Qi Ning a resolute nod, her face set with determination.
