Global Awakening: Monster Taming Necromancer

Chapter 123: Equip

Thayer noticed immediately when Kaelith became restless, and he knew immediately that things must not be going his way. He grinned behind his mask, so the guys have done it!

'So what will you do now, Kaelith? Since your card has been checked,' Thayer thought. 'Will you continue your calmness or do the next possible thing – take another hostage! Me!'

At the end of the hall, Kaelith turned and looked his way, and the two of them locked eyes. Thayer grinned. "I haven't fought in a long while. Let's see, I have some already bought goods. Let equip!"

He scrolled through his Codex and began to press 'yes' to what he needed. Just then, he suddenly leaped up, and his movement was graceful but still unusual because why was he jumping into a party?

They knew soon enough – flat tentacles of blood red curved and rose from the floor slashing the air towards him. He wove among them as if he were air.

People shouted in alarm and flinched back, murmuring and pointing. They are surprised but not that alarmed. This wasn't the first time that they would be witnessing something like this assassination is a common thing after all.

But what alarmed them was the target. It's Thayer Argent! As he predicted earlier, Awakeners rushed forward, and the room exploded into bright lights as skills filled the air, followed by a shockwave that made the room shake.

When the dust settled, there were at least four Awakeners dead with their throat slashed brutally, and one neck was taken off cleanly.

"Ah, now he's done it," Thayer said from above. He was standing above the ground, his legs firmly on compressed air. "Now you'll have to kill everyone to keep yourself safe. On wait, no matter what you'll have to run again after today with the Tower after you."

Kaelith was passed caring, his eyes hardened and he ripped the mask on his face away. "I'll kill you, Thayer, even if it's the last thing I do, but I must first secure you as a valuable hostage first."

Thayer looked at the Awakeners gathered below and he saw fear in them. Maybe they might have fallen on the blood Necromancer if he was weaker than them, but now that they knew his silver rank, they began to give space.

Lord Ola was standing with the two silver ranks among them, and the stance was clear: they won't be standing with the Argent tonight; it's a risk against their business when this is all over, but at least they'll still be alive.

"Do you see now?" Kaelith began to walk forward, taking his time, and each step he took expanded the pool of blood that began to grow under him, rippling with each movement. "At the end, they won't throw their life away; at the end, they choose the one that'll guarantee their life. You should have put this in your plans when you decided to box me in."

Thayer was silent, and he looked at him blankly for a while, then he suddenly nodded. "Is that what you think? I learned the business from the greatest since I can count. Do you think any sane businessman goes with one plan? Or five?"

"Still arrogant, I'll break that from you with the time I have. Before that boy offers himself in replacement for you."

"But you intend to kill all of us, even Jael eventually. Of course, I cannot kill you, but I just might be able to hold you off before help comes."

Then he looked at those cowering Awakeners and said. "Is there anyone willing to take a gamble and stand with me? Risk is part of business after all. Anyone?"

Most of them looked away from him, and soon sneered that he was too naive and didn't know how the world works, but there was a shuffling of feet, and then someone stepped forward. It was Lord Owen.

Thayer laughed. "Well, Lord Owen, I'm going to make you very rich, but for now, all you have to do for me is guard this! Equip!"

A thick metal pole metalized in front of Lord Owen, shining brightly. Those who are familiar with it gasped out loud, it's a potable portal that can bring only one person and for a single use!

And it's so fucking expensive.

Lord Owen swallowed. "I'll...d...do my best." He realized that he was doomed now; maybe he shouldn't have come out, but his business was doomed, and he was planning to retire to one of the far towns.

He pulled a lot of strings and leaned on his crumbling influence just to get here and have a small chance to talk to Thayer. To think things will turn out like this! Well, he's very sure his daughter will be able to sell the rest of their stuff and start a new one in one of the far towns. "I'll do my best, Lord Argent!"

Thayer laughed, cracking like a broken machine. "Then I'll face the blood Necromancer on my own! Behold, the riches of the Argent! Equip! Equip! Equip!

Equip! Equip!Equip!Equip!Equip!Equip! Equip! Equip Equip.......and Equip!"

"What," Kaelith said.

Thayer Argent was now clad in a golden armor that shone with light magic. He held a sword that was soaked in so much black magic that it began to corrupt his metal hand. He was standing on a big metal golem, and around him on the ground were small golem, human size, and they all blazed with Iron rank power.

A lot of people don't know, but one of the requests of becoming a Guildmaster is to have the power and means to be able to at least defend a block of a town or city from a number of Iron ranks threats alone! (Since they are on the lower floors where Iron is common, it's naturally what's used for judging but when he gets to Silver he'll have to take the test again...and so on)

Thayer smiled. "You will now be fighting the Guildmaster of the Gold Guild."
