Chapter 921 T.D.O.N.B: S15C, Part VI - Martin's Duel
Meanwhile, on the opposite side, beyond the plaza, Martin and Hailwic were rushing between the buildings to provide help. There was a battle going on ahead. Will was fighting several enemies. Although he was holding them back very well, it was tough to secure enough superiority on the battlefield to break the stalemate.
There were especially two aliens, both able to fight him in the air, who provided enough resistance to create the whole situation.
The two humans weren't the only ones, though. Some of the guardians also were rushing there to support their forces, and the two groups met. Three warriors against two.
Hailwic didn't hesitate. Without stopping she just raised her axe and picked the target, before leaping forward.
All three enemies looked very similar. Heavy armor without any distinguishable symbols, decorations, and greatswords. All of those items definitely enchanted.
She landed close enough to strike. Despite buildings being around, they had enough space to fight. The warrior was joined by two others, pushing Hailwic very quickly into a defensive stance. Martin was about to help, but suddenly he was blasted by a telekinetic wave, which pushed him hard enough to smash into one of the nearby houses.
Just by itself, the wave trashed several others too. Sending the debris into the air like a barrage of bullets. The giant didn't stay down for too long. He leaped straight into the air from under the rubble. Despite clearly a lot of force being involved in his movement, he didn't go that far, like there was some kind of force pulling him down more than just the weight of his body and the armor.
He landed and then charged with one hand stretched to the side. A humming sound filled the area, and from under the ruble shout out his massive weapons, flying with incredible speed. He grabbed it, focusing his attention solely on the target.
An alien, wearing a brown long coat, with metallic armor under. He had a hood covering his head, and a mask obscuring his face. His right hand was still in the position he took when he produced the telekinetic push, while the other was holding the two-bladed staff. One on each end.
The guardian decided to move his hand, to grab a building with his telekinetic powers, tear it off from its foundation, and smash the human with it. It blasted martin, turning into rubble in the process, which sprayed all around the other side but didn't even slow down the armored juggernaut.
Electrical discharges started to jump around martin, stretching from his feet to the ground with each step, like some kind of blue glue. They also swarmed the massive morgenstern.
The alien decided to strike him directly once again, with yet another shove. It scraped part of the ground, pealing the concrete of the soil itself, as the force burst abruptly. The debris was sent flying once again from a wide area, but it didn't stop Martin at all.
The guardian realized that he has no choice but to start preparing himself to block the attack because the human was already in a position to take a swing, which he did. He stopped, sliding a few last meters while swinging hard.
The weapon slammed into the barrier, producing a shockwave, that completely flattened the area where the force was directed, as it bounced off the telekinetic bubble. The noise was so loud, that it could rival the loud roar of flames produced moments before by Sanders. Which effects they all still had to deal with.
Somehow, the protection endured, allowing the alien to drop it by himself and jump right at Martin's face. He struck him with a few quick slashes, each bursting with sparks as the metal collided with metal, but clearly dealing no damage - to the point, that the human ignored it completely.
He grabbed the weird swordsman, then threw him right into the ground. The morgenstern was about to follow, but the guardian managed to change his position, land on one hand, then push himself out of the way, rolling midair, to land on his feet, then rush further to the side, to circle around Martin's massive body.
He tried to turn around, but there was no way he could match the speed, so in the end, he was struck from behind. The direct hits proved to do no damage. They only looked flashy, as their attack was very gracious, and produced more bursts of sparks.
The human retaliated, swinging his massive weapon and forcing the alien away. As the swordsman jumped far back, he attempted to pull his opponent after himself, but the telekinetic powers couldn't move Martin at all.
Despite the failed attempt, he still succeeded in escaping. This clearly was annoying for the human. He smashed his morgenstern right into the ground, trashing the whole vicinity on a loud impact. What was even more spectacular, was the sudden burst of electricity, right from underground in the spot where the alien landed.
It hit him directly, but he somehow made it out. Then, accelerating fast, started to run around. He already knew that speed was his major advantage against the heavily armored opponent, to whom he had problems dealing any damage.
At the same time, Hailwic was being pushed more and more toward the plaza. Not only did she have to defend against three warriors, but also avoid getting hit by all the debris shot out by the previous telekinesis attacks.
She tried really hard to mark the swordsmen, but except for a couple of blue signs on their swords, most of them were getting left behind, because they consequently made her retreat. To make things worse, the guardian who was just weighing with Martin, decided to change his target.
On the pretext of running away, he cut the distance between him and her short, then suddenly leaped forward, to attack viciously with a flood of cuts and strikes. The situation was not looking good.
Martin noticed it. He immediately knew that he won't get there in time.
