Chapter 63 Getting Ready: First Raid

Rubbing his hands, Jake nodded at Infinite Pines.

"Is everything done?" he asked.

"As you wished, everyone has been outfitted." Infinite Pines nodded.

"Good." Jake smiled and turned to look at everyone in the crowd.

"Now that everyone has gotten an entire set of Rare Equipment, which mind you, has not been cheap for me, it is time for us to finally start what we came here to do!" Jake bellowed.

The noise died down, and everyone looked at their guild master.

"Wait. We didn't come here to get the Rare Equipment? There is something else that we need to do?" they asked.

"Of course there is something else you need to do. I am sure that the thirty group captains and the three guild elders got their message? Step forward." Jake said.

Immediatley, thirty three different men and women took a step and formed a lateral line in front of everyone.

"I already assigned who gets who. The guild elders are administrative. They will still have to fight, and have no extra benefits except in informing me what the ten groups below them are up to. Well then, now that we have that out of the way, let me give you a few fair warnings." Jake said as he cleared his throat.

"Where we are going is a dangerous place where you might lose your lives, and a level subsequently. Do not worry. That is all part of the game. You can always recover levels. But what you can't recover is items. Whatever a dead teammate drops, it is up to the guild members to collect and put in the guild storage until he can collect it. Do I make myself clear?" Jake shouted.

"Yes, sir!"

"Now then, onto the more important stuff. The raid. As you are aware, the new update means that the guild will have to go on expeditions to explore unknown lands. The danger levels are great, and the rewards are greater." Jake started.

Listening to him, everyone rubbed their hands with excitement. Who didn't want to be a part of the guild that would try and find the mysterious portal?

"But do you really think that we can go to the unknown lands and find that portal with this paltry group of people? We are still weak! None of us are above level fifty, and none of us have completed a Tier Two upgrade mission. Going to the unknown lands is a suicide mission until we grow stronger. And grinding is the worst possible way to do that. We need to go on raids. And the raid that we are going is the perfect fit for us." Jake crushed everyone's hopes and dreams and poured a bucket of cold water over all of them, waking them up.

"Check your inbox. All of you must have received a location, am I right?" Jake asked, shouting.

Everyone nodded as they looked at the point on the map. But then, someone noticed something a little different.

He raised his hands.

"Isn't this in a kingdom other than Loviel? How are we going to go there?"

"Good point. How do you think we are going to go there. The portal in the city. Don't worry. It is about ten silvers per person. Do you not think that I accounted for this? Why do you think that guilds take most of the loot. Because we invest it back into you people. Now then, let us get going." Jake said, but inside, his heart was bleeding.

Ten silver per person, and there were three hundred people. That was thirty gold coins right there.

And coming back would take another sixty gold coins. This guild was burning a hole in his pocket.

They started walking back into the city, and Myriad Arrows caught up to Jake.

"Are you serious? Mass teleportation for everyone? Are you made of money?" he asked.

"Don't worry too much. Yesterday's bonus is a single time thing. Until the guild breaks even and starts growing, I am not going to hand more money out. This raid should get me the money that I put in and a lot more if I am not wrong." Jake said.

"How much money could you possibly get from a raid?" Myriad Arrows asked.

"You see, there are two things that you can get from a raid like the one that we are doing. The main one is the first clear reward. We are probably the only guild that is trying this out so quickly. And which other guild has outfitted their members with such good equipment?" Jake asked.

"What is the first clear reward? And you still haven't told me where we are going." Myriad Arrows asked.

"Oh right. That. Don't worry. It isn't something too interesting. This is a pretty boring raid, and I just hope that with this raid, our guild's teamwork will improve a little." Jake said.

"What is the first clear reward? And the second reward? You have to answer at least a few questions." Myriad Arrows grumbled.

"Yes." Jake nodded. "The first clear reward will give us a little karma each, and both of us will get a little more than everyone else. As for the second reward, it is the loot that we get from battling the monsters again and again. We can run the raid again, so we can get more and more loot." Jake said.

"What loot can we possibly get?" Myriad Arrows rolled his eyes.

"There are three rare named sets, and one epic named set. We can forget about the epic named set, that's for sure, since the drop rates are a little too low. But we can try and get those completed sets." Jake said.

"Rare Named sets? Even I don't have one!" Myriad Arrows' eyes sparkled.

"You don't need one. I mean, the effects are awesome, but getting all epic items are much better. Trust me." Jake sighed.

"Not everyone is rich like you!"
