Chapter 25 - I'M NOT A COWARD
Ellena immediately rushed to the toilet located in the room. She intended to clean up immediately, after a few hours of struggling with housework.
Tonight, Ellena felt very tired because she had just finished cleaning the bedroom and several other rooms. Even if it's just sweeping and mopping, it still makes her sweat from the work.
She didn't expect that she would feel so exhausted on her first day occupying this luxurious and magnificent house. She thought, Lucas had taken the initiative to hire someone who was ready to clean the house they were going to live in. However, it turned out to be beyond her expectations. Lucas instead delegated all the work to her alone, without any help from anyone.
Ellena sat at the dressing table, studying her reflection in the mirror. While combing her long and slightly damp hair, she didn't stop grumbling, cursing her fate. Could living in the new house be the beginning of his suffering?
"Did he deliberately marry me just to make me a slave?" Ellena grumbled in annoyance as she tied her hair in a ponytail.
A growl like the sound of 'creaking' in the stomach seemed to distract Ellena and stop her activities. She lowered his head and rubbed his stomach. The sound of worms protesting inside made Ellena just realized that it was time for her to have dinner.
"Ah, what time is it? Why am I so hungry?" Ellena turned around, without moving from her seat. The clock on the wall pointed to the number 9, making her widen her eyes in surprise.
"Arrgh, no wonder I'm so hungry, how many hours did I spend for dinner?" Ellena rose from her seat and left the room.
Ellena descended the stairs one by one very slowly. After only a few steps, she found Lucas sitting relaxed on the sofa watching the news broadcast on television. She paused for a moment, then looked at Lucas from up there.
Lucas, who had previously noticed the sound of someone's footsteps, immediately looked back. He then looked up, staring at Ellena who was standing staring at him. However, it didn't last long. He refocused his gaze forward, continuing to watch television broadcasts.
Realizing that Lucas didn't really care about her presence, Ellena immediately approached the man. She was standing beside the sofa looking at Lucas with disapproval. This, of course, made Lucas, who was focusing on the television screen, suddenly turn his head towards him.
"What are you looking at? Why are you looking at me like that, huh?" Lucas pursed her lips while looking at Ellena scornfully.
Ellena took a deep breath. Instantly her gaze turned a little sad. Not feeling sorry for Lucas, but feeling sorry for her hungry stomach.
"I'm hungry, isn't there something I can eat in this house?" Ellena landed her body on the single sofa that was beside the sofa where Lucas was sitting.
Lucas was silent for a moment, then slightly bent his back as he reached for the cellphone that was located on the table in front of him.
"What do you want to eat?" Lucas stared at the phone screen, not wanting to turn to Ellena. In fact, he forgot the fate of his stomach as well as that of Ellena's.
"Too bad for her, she must be really hungry," Lucas muttered under his breath.
"Anything, the important thing can make my stomach full." Ellena slightly tilted her seat facing forward, looking at the television screen which was still broadcasting the same news as before.
Meanwhile, Lucas seemed to be typing something on his cellphone screen. Maybe he was ordering food online. After that, he put the cellphone back on the table.
This time they did the same. Watch television together. There is no conversation between them. Only the voice of the news announcer on the television filled the silence of the room. There seemed to be nothing important for them to discuss.
After a few minutes, a knock on the door startled them for a moment. Quickly, Ellena stood up and walked over to the door. Even though Lucas didn't tell her to, she didn't think he would be willing to open the door for someone out there.
"Madam, this is a delivery for Mr. Lucas," said Arley, who was standing in front of the door holding out a red pizza box.
"Okay, thank you." Ellena immediately grabbed the box while smiling brightly. It seemed that she could not wait to immediately devour the food in the box.
Ellena placed the pizza box on the television in front of the table. Without waiting for orders, she immediately opened the box and devoured the piece of pizza she took.
Meanwhile, Lucas was just watching her seriously. In fact, he couldn't believe seeing Ellena eating so voraciously. It seemed that she was really hungry.
"Are you really hungry?" Lucas looked at Ellena curiously as he grabbed a slice of pizza.
"You think I'm kidding?" Ellena glared, without stopping the activity of chewing the food that had moved to her mouth. "Aren't I tired of cleaning a house this big by myself?" Ellena stopped what she was doing for a moment. Looks like a slice of pizza that is already in front of her mouth and ready to eat.
Lucas just shook his head slowly, in response. He then stuffed the pizza slice into his mouth, his gaze refocused forward. In contrast to Ellena who seemed to be in a hurry, Lucas was eating so leisurely. In fact, he didn't even realize how many slices of pizza Ellena had eaten in such a short amount of time.
Because Lucas thought the pizza was very delicious, he decided to take another slice of pizza. However, he was suddenly wide-eyed when the pizza box turned out to be empty, with nothing left.
"You finished all this food?" Lucas looked up, staring at Ellena in disbelief. How could that woman eat that much pizza so quickly, he thought.
"So what?" Ellena wore an innocent expression. "Isn't that food you bought for me on purpose? Then why can't I eat it?" he asked innocently.
Lucas looked away, annoyed with Ellena. In fact, he was also still hungry and wanted to eat the pizza again.
"In fact, you don't care about my stomach," Lucas quipped flatly.
"Do you really care about me being exhausted from cleaning your house?" Ellena didn't want to lose, suddenly making Lucas a little wide-eyed.
"How dare you!" Lucas snapped. However, Ellena did not care and immediately left the place. "Argh, dammit!" he cursed then.
Lucas also got up and followed Ellena's footsteps. "Elle, wait!" Ellena stopped, then turned around.
"Why?" asked Elena.
"Starting tomorrow, there will be a maid working in this house. So you don't have to be busy doing your own housework," Lucas informed.
"No need! I can do it myself!" Ellena firmly refused.
"I'm not a coward who can only oppress a weak woman like you!" Lucas walked past Ellena so haughtily.
Ellena was flabbergasted for a moment. How is it possible, Lucas could say like that, when what that man had done to her all this time. She felt that was also quite oppressive.
"With you getting me trapped in this marriage, isn't that bullying too?" growled Ellena. However, Lucas didn't seem to care.. This was proven by Lucas who went straight into the room, without responding to Ellena's words.
