Wedding Agreement With CEO

Chapter 23 - PAINFUL

"Elle, why did you just activate your cell phone number?" Filia protested when she was only able to dial Ellena's cell number.

Since her last conversation with Keenan, Ellena had deliberately turned off her cellphone. However, one minute ago, she had accidentally reactivated the phone. So many whatsapp messages sent by Keenan and Filia. Just as she opened the message from Filia, suddenly Filia immediately called her.

"Sorry, Filia. What's wrong?" asked Ellena.

"You know what? Yesterday Keenan came to the office."

Ellena jumped when she heard the news from Filia about Keenan. 'Does that mean Keenan has found out about my marriage to Lucas?' she thought.

To confirm her curiosity, Ellena enthusiastically asked Filia about it.

"You met Keenan, Filia?"

"Yes, Elle, I just happened to meet him," answered Filia.

"What did he say?" Ellena landed her body on the edge of the bed. Her gaze was serious, full of curiosity. She had strained her ears to listen to Filia's story.

"Of course he wants to meet you," replied Filia.

"So what did you say?" Ellena was getting excited.

"I just let him know that you've stopped working in that office."

Ellena breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily Filia gave the right answer.

"He also asked about your whereabouts now." Filia told Ellena more.

"But I said that I don't know," she added before Ellena responded.

Again Ellena breathed a sigh of relief.

If only Keenan knew that the person he was meeting was Filia, Ellena's best friend, maybe he would have asked more questions about Ellena.

It was the first time Keenan had come to town to meet Ellena. So, he didn't know the address of the boarding house, nor about Filia. Ellena did tell about her best friend, but Keenan didn't know what Filia's face looked like.

"Elle, he also asked about me." Before Ellena could end her daydream, Filia's words suddenly made her heart throb, feeling shocked.

"Are you serious, Filia?" Ellena was slightly flabbergasted.

"How could I be joking. I had to lie and say that Filia has also quit her job. I don't think she knows my face yet," explained Filia.

"Thank you Filia, your answer is absolutely spot on." Ellena looked down wearily. It felt like the news from Filia this time made her sport her heart.

Before they had finished chatting, the sound of the phone ringing and vibrating caught Ellena's attention. She stared at the phone screen. Ellena widened her eyes when she saw an incoming call from Keenan.

"Filia, Keenan called me," Ellena softly told. "We have to end our conversation soon, I'll turn my phone back off."

"All right, Ellena. Take care of yourself."

They immediately ended the conversation.

Without wanting to receive a phone call from Keenan, Ellena immediately turned off the cell phone. She had absolutely no intention of worrying Keenan, or even ignoring the man. However, avoiding Keenan was the only best net she could do.

It can't be denied, Ellena really feels guilty for ignoring Keenan. However, what could she do now. There are only two choices, be honest or avoid not lying. She feels, avoiding is the right way when she still can't say the truth about her current status.

For a moment, Ellena's tears rolled down her cheeks. She felt like the worst person in the world.

"I'm sorry, Keenan. I didn't mean to lie to you, or even betray you, but I know this will be very painful for you. In fact, it hurts more than me just ignoring and not answering your calls," Ellena hissed.

In the afternoon. After Lucas came home from work, he immediately asked Ellena to get ready and pack her things.

Lucas already has a new home. The house that Selena chose directly, according to her taste. Initially the house was deliberately bought to be occupied with Selena. However, after the event of the woman's betrayal, all his plans fell apart. Finally he decided to take Ellena to live there, albeit with a heavy heart. Because, it is possible that Selena will always be in his shadow, as long as he lives in that house.

Yes, of course. So far, Selena has always been a dream woman who will accompany her in old age. He had already imagined how happy they would be to live together in that house, then be blessed with small children who would fill their days with joy. Ah, it feels like just imagining it is already very beautiful, especially if the fantasy becomes reality. He really felt like he was going to be the happiest person in the world.

It's undeniable, Lucas still can't forget about Selena, even though he hates her a lot. In fact, it is not easy to erase the traces of someone who has accompanied him for a long time. Lucas was confused about how he would deal with all the feelings that were getting more and more torturous by the day.

Sometimes he wanted to run away from reality, when remembering Selena's betrayal was so painful. It's really unfortunate fate, can not get a reply for his love is so great.

Lucas and Ellena walked out of the house followed by Albert and Veronica behind.

Lucas and Ellena said goodbye to their parents. Veronica seemed unwilling to let her son and daughter-in-law leave the house. The house was that big, but there wasn't a child there. It felt very quiet, even though there were several waiters ready to enliven. Still everything feels different.

"Why don't you just stay here?" Veronica wore a disappointed expression.

"Never mind, Mom. Aren't we adults, so we should live independently," Lucas answered who didn't care about his mother's whining. "Besides, didn't I often sleep in the apartment before? Why is Mom suddenly not willing to do that?" he added, frowning.

"This house will be lonely without you. You know your Daddy? He is so busy with his work, just like you. With Ellena in this house, at least I will have someone to talk to," Veronica explained.

"Don't worry, Mom, I'll be visiting this house often." Ellena responded to her mother-in-law's anxiety.

Veronica sighed. Again she couldn't stop Lucas and Ellena from leaving, despite repeatedly asking them to stay in the house.

"Take care of yourselves, especially you, Lucas!" Albert looked seriously at Lucas' face. "Take care of your wife and treat her well, never hurt her," he later said.

"Fine, Dad," Lucas replied curtly.

They were seen shaking hands while hugging and kissing the right and left cheeks alternately. Ellena and Lucas seemed to be going far from the city, even though the house was not far from their parents' house.

"Sorry, mommy and daddy can't take you. Sometime mommy will stop by your house," said Veronica.. Finally, with a heavy heart she released her son and daughter-in-law to move house.
