Chapter 77
Chapter 77 - Love Letter
Ye Hao poured out a pill and handed it to Hwa Xu. Hwa Xu took a whiff and exclaimed, “This pill contains sealwort aged three hundred years, ginseng of five hundred years, and snow clams that are two hundred years old.”
He listed over a dozen esteemed herbs. “This pill truly deserves to be called a panacea,” he remarked.
“Could you sell me one?” Hwa Xu asked eagerly, rubbing his hands together. “I'd like to analyze its formulation.”
“You won't be able to,” Ye Hao replied, shaking his head. “And even if you did figure it out, you lack the necessary ingredients to produce it.”
Hwa Xu nodded in resignation. Ingredients had always been a bottleneck in the world of traditional medicine.
“May I purchase one from you?” interjected Ping Mei, a middle-aged noblewoman, stepping forward. She had overheard Ye Hao mention that the pill could extend an average person's life by five to six years.
Ye Hao shook his head gently.
“I am Qingqing's mother,” Ping Mei stated, her displeasure evident.
“And what of it?” Ye Hao could tell at a glance that Ping Mei was unlikely to be Qingqing's real mother. Regardless, he wouldn't just hand over the medicine.
“Would you consider selling me two of your panaceas?” Lan Zhongtian also expressed interest in Ye Hao's panaceas.
“Mr. Lan, do you really think a panacea from the Way of Nature can be bought with money?” Ye Hao asked with a smile. “Besides, do I look like I'm in need of cash?”
Lan Zhongtian's face betrayed a flicker of anger.
“Qingqing, I have other matters to attend to. I'm heading back,” Ye Hao told Lan Qingqing before turning to leave.
Lan Qingqing stamped her foot in frustration and hurried after Ye Hao.
“He's oblivious to his own good fortune,” Lan Zhongtian grumbled in anger.
Hwa Xu gave Lan Zhongtian a sidelong glance and warned, “Mr. Lan, I must remind you that even with your strong connections in Anesas, he is not someone you can afford to provoke.”
“What?” Lan Zhongtian responded, taken aback.
“Never mind his acquaintance with the cultivators from the Way of Nature; his current level of cultivation is such that even your personal bodyguard wouldn't stand a chance against him,” Hwa Xu added.
“That's impossible,” Lan Zhongtian exclaimed, visibly shaken.
His personal bodyguard was a nine-star top-level Acquired expert.
Hwa Xu remained silent, turned on his heel, and left the area.
Ping Mei spoke with a grave tone, “Unless something unforeseen occurs, a young nine-star expert like this will surely ascend to the Innate Realm. Experts of the Innate Realm enjoy certain privileges within the country.”
“It appears that Ye Hao's friend must be a cultivator from the Way of Nature, and for Ye Hao to possess such formidable powers at his age, do you think he might have access to a Hidden Book from the Way of Nature?” Lan Zhongtian mused.
“Do you desire Ye Hao's Hidden Book?” Ping Mei asked, taken aback.
“Our Lan family has never been able to monopolize Anesas, but with Grandmaster Bai Ruo's support, we might just achieve that,” Lan Zhongtian said, locking eyes with Ping Mei.
“You're considering asking Grandmaster Bai Ruo to confront Ye Hao?” Ping Mei asked hesitantly. “Bai Ruo is of the Innate Realm, so she could take on Ye Hao. But what about Qingqing's illness?”
“For the Lan family's sake, Qingqing's well-being can be put on hold,” Lan Zhongtian declared after a lengthy silence.
Ping Mei shuddered. She stared at Lan Zhongtian, seeing this man as a stranger for the first time.
Though Ping Mei sought power, she had not reached Lan Zhongtian's extreme.
“Ye Hao, I'm sorry,” Lan Qingqing said, catching up to him with a remorseful look.
“The one who should be apologizing is me,” Ye Hao responded gently. “I still need more time to prepare the panacea that will cure you.”
“Please don't say that,” Lan Qingqing implored. “It only makes me feel more guilty.”
“Then let's drop the subject,” Ye Hao suggested, smiling at Lan Qingqing's tear-filled eyes. “You should head back. I need to get to class.”
Unbeknownst to Lan Qingqing, as Ye Hao turned away, his smile vanished.
Perhaps even Lan Zhongtian failed to realize that his arrogance had incited Ye Hao's ire.
And Ye Hao himself hadn't noticed that with the black dragon's memories, the creature's pride was beginning to subtly influence him.
Before, Ye Hao would never have considered leaving.
After departing from the hospital, Ye Hao called Tang Pianpian. Learning that she was at the computer market purchasing computers, he quickly joined her. Together, they bought several pieces of equipment.
By the time they got back to Blossomfall Chateau, it was already eight in the evening.
On the table, Ye Hao noticed two rune papers and a letter.
The letter was from Xiao Ming.
He informed Ye Hao that he had gone to the Supernatural Bureau.
The rune papers were protective talismans.
“Pianpian, you should get a small plastic bag tomorrow to keep the talisman safe, then tuck it into your purse,” Ye Hao suggested, to prevent the rune paper from getting damaged or wet.
“I have such bags already.” Tang Pianpian quickly fetched two small plastic bags from her room.
“You really do have everything!” exclaimed Ye Hao, taken aback.
Tang Pianpian flashed a proud smile and glanced at Ye Hao.
Her smile was captivating, making Ye Hao shudder. “Senior, are you trying to test your allure?”
“Cultivators mustn't get too close to women,” Tang Pianpian said with a twinkle in her eye.
“Who told you that?” Ye Hao glared at her fiercely. “If you keep trying to tempt me, you'll have to deal with the consequences.”
Tang Pianpian feigned a scared expression, “Don't pick on me.”
Ye Hao knew he had to leave, or he might not be able to stop himself from kissing her!
He stood up and retreated to his room, where he began to read the Encyclopedia of Herb.
He was confident he could finish it today.
Ye Hao was certain he could ace the upcoming exam.
After all, excelling in this subject was a matter of rote memorization.
The following morning, Ye Hao and Tang Pianpian walked to the university together.
“Ye Hao, is it time for us to buy a car?”
“Do you have a driver's license?”
“I've got one.”
“Well then, let's go car shopping.”
“We'll pick one out this afternoon.”
“Sounds good.”
With nearly thirty million yuan at his disposal, Ye Hao could easily afford a car worth several hundred thousand yuan.
“I guess it's time for me to get a driver's license,” Ye Hao mused aloud.
Upon their arrival at school, Ye Hao made a beeline for the sports field. At that moment, his classmates watched him with a mix of awe and respect. The video of Ye Hao taking on Meng Yongyan and eleven other boys had gone viral within the school. No one had anticipated that the seemingly frail Ye Hao could be so formidable.
“That's the mark of a true man.”
“He took on twelve guys by himself and didn't even get a scratch. He's incredibly cool.”
“I'm starting to develop a bit of a crush on him.”
“He just keeps getting more attractive.”
While some of the girls in his class were openly swooning over Ye Hao, a girl from the next class approached him, her head bowed. She handed Ye Hao an envelope and said in a hushed tone, “I wrote you this letter.”
