Chapter 66
Chapter 66 - The Crisis of Lin Family
“Let's hear it,” Ye Hao said, settling into a comfortable position with a smile.
“The Lin family is surrounded by danger. If you get involved, you could end up dead.”
“Really?”
“Do you truly understand the complexities of a major family?” Leng Xue asked gravely. “The Lin family is being targeted by both the Zhou and Zheng families, not to mention the watchful eyes of the Wang, Sun, Kang, and Leng families. No matter how powerful, the Lin family can't withstand this.”
“The Leng family?” Ye Hao interjected. “Miss Leng, you're part of the Leng family, aren't you?”
“You!” Leng Xue was so flustered she could hardly speak.
She had shared so much, and yet Ye Hao was focused on this?
“I'm not concerned about the Lin family, but nothing must happen to Lin Rou'er,” Ye Hao stated, looking at Leng Xue.
“Lin Rou'er is the current Head of the Lin family. Do you think they would spare her?”
“If anyone dares to harm Lin Rou'er, they'll pay with their life,” Ye Hao declared evenly.
“Ye Hao,” Leng Xue said, taken aback by his calm assertion. It was then she realized she might not fully understand this student.
“I'm just kidding,” Ye Hao burst out laughing. “I'm merely a student; how could I possibly get involved in the feuds of your elite families?”
In frustration, Leng Xue punched Ye Hao, who just chuckled and sidestepped.
?Perhaps as a form of payback, Leng Xue deliberately bought an excessive amount of groceries. To her surprise, Ye Hao carried them effortlessly.
?”In the future, if you need to take leave, call me directly,” Leng Xue instructed once Ye Hao had set down the bags.
Ye Hao nodded, “Miss Leng, I won't be living in the dorm from now on.”
“What's the issue?” she asked. Students needed a counselor's approval to live outside the dorm.
“It's inconvenient to stay there.”
“Is it because you're not getting along with Yuan Gaoxing and the others?”
“No, it's not that. I've rented a place at Blossomfall Chateau.”
“Have you already found a place to rent?”
“Yes.”
“I don't agree with this.”
“Miss Leng, I'm sure you'll come around.” Ye Hao said, turning to leave. “I've still got some time, so I need to get my things in order in the dorm.”
“Do you think I won't deduct your credits?”
“For every credit you deduct, I'll earn another one back.”
Once back in his dorm, Ye Hao started to pack his clothes.
Guo Xiu had prepared a lot of clothes for him.
Ye Hao intended to take most of them to his new rental. In the dorm, he figured leaving just two or three outfits would suffice.
“Ye Hao, what are you up to?” Xiao Laoshi inquired.
“I'm planning to move out.”
As soon as Ye Hao mentioned moving out, Yuan Gaoxing and the others gathered around.
“What's the matter?” Zheng Xiaolong asked.
With a smile, Ye Hao neatly folded a shirt and said, “I'm just more comfortable living by myself.”
“If we've done something to offend you, please tell us,” Yuan Gaoxing implored earnestly.
“It's not about that.”
“Then why move out?” Yuan Gaoxing asked, clearly puzzled. “Aren't you aware of how expensive rent is in Glento?”
After a brief pause, Ye Hao revealed, “The truth is, I'm moving out because I'm going to be living with a girl.”
“What?” Everyone was taken aback by Ye Hao's announcement.
Nobody had anticipated that this was his reason for moving.
“Ye Hao, aren't you moving a bit too fast?” Yuan Gaoxing exclaimed, astonished.
“I just want to know who you're going to be living with,” Xiao Laoshi asked eagerly. “Is it Zhang Lan?”
“You've got it all wrong.” Ye Hao didn't elaborate further and continued packing his clothes.
Despite their speculations, Zheng Xiaolong and the others never guessed it would be Tang Pianpian.
It seemed improbable for Tang Pianpian to move in with Ye Hao after only two days of acquaintance.
?Zhang Lan, on the other hand, might be the one, considering she had been actively pursuing Ye Hao.
After Ye Hao had packed both suitcases, he prepared to head out.
“Let me give you a hand,” Yuan Gaoxing offered with a smile.
“No need,” Ye Hao winked at Yuan Gaoxing.
“Oh my God, now I really have to go,” Yuan Gaoxing said, though he stopped what he was doing.
Ye Hao returned to Blossomfall Chateau and put his luggage in the guest bedroom since Tang Pianpian had taken over the master bedroom.
Military training had just ended when Zhang Lan approached Ye Hao.
“Let's go see a movie tonight,” she suggested, flaunting two movie tickets in front of him.
Their conversation sparked a flurry of whispers among the onlookers.
Zhang Lan's intentions were clear for all to see.
Ye Hao was about to respond when his phone began to vibrate.
He answered May's call with a hint of confusion, “It's only five now; do I really need to come over?”
“We need to get things ready ahead of time,” May responded gently.
“Okay. Where are you at the moment?”
“I'm right outside your school.”
“Give me twenty minutes,” Ye Hao said before hanging up. He turned to Zhang Lan with an apologetic look, “I've got something on tonight.”
“In that case, I'll see you later,” Zhang Lan replied softly.
As Ye Hao was about to walk away, Bai Hehua blocked his path, questioning, “Ye Hao, what's this about?”
“What do you mean?”
“How can you just turn down Zhang Lan?”
“I'm busy tonight.”
“Just cancel your plans.”
“I can't.”
“What's so important tonight?”
“I'd rather not say.”
“Would you tell Zhang Lan?” Bai Hehua pressed.
Overhearing this, Zhang Lan quickly intervened, pulling Bai Hehua aside.
“Why are you pulling me? I'm trying to stand up for you,” Bai Hehua protested, dissatisfied.
“I don't need you to handle my affairs,” Zhang Lan retorted, her face stern.
Bai Hehua was taken aback.
After a brief pause, Ye Hao leaned in and whispered to Zhang Lan, “I've got a task from my employer.”
Zhang Lan's eyes sparkled with intrigue.
Ye Hao had actually offered her an explanation.
Did this mean she held a special place in his heart?
But then, her mind raced with new questions.
Employer? Task?
What was Ye Hao involved in?
Without elaborating further, Ye Hao hurried toward the dormitory.
He couldn't meet May dressed in his military uniform.
Upon reaching the school entrance, Ye Hao saw six luxury cars lined up. It dawned on him that Lin Rou'er must be there too.
Guided by May, Ye Hao arrived at the central vehicle.
“Rou'er,” Ye Hao called out as he settled into his seat.
Lin Rou'er passed him a bottle of mineral water, asking, “You must be thirsty after all that military training, right?”
Lin Rou'er's thoughtfulness was undeniable.
Such a simple gesture spoke volumes about her character.
Ye Hao accepted the water, expressing his astonishment, “Has Nongfu Spring come out with a new product?”
The mineral water bottle before him was made of glass, etched with the image of an eagle in flight.
May chimed in at the right moment, “This is Nongfu Spring's premium line, Moya Spring. However, I personally find that Evian from France has a better taste.”
