Chapter 15
C15 – Bronze Dagger
Liang Mo stood out as an exceptional graduate of the police academy.
Dealing with three or four of these young delinquents posed no challenge for Liang Mo. If he were confronted by more adversaries, he could end up injured or even lose his life.
Nevertheless, the seemingly unremarkable young man before him effortlessly dispatched all of the delinquents armed with clubs.
“Did you knock them all out?” Liang Mo inquired, his expression a mix of astonishment and skepticism, directed at Ye Hao.
“Indeed,” Ye Hao affirmed with a nod.
Liang Mo asked, “How did you accomplish that?”
Ye Hao scratched his head, remaining silent.
Liang Mo gazed intently at Ye Hao and instructed, “Take their statements immediately.”
This incident needed to be officially documented, following proper procedure.
Lee Qianqian inquired softly, “Will Ye Hao be okay, Officer?”
“These individuals killed two police officers just three days ago during the abduction of Bai Si. So, even if you had to use force, you won’t face legal consequences. Moreover, Ye Hao acted in self-defense in this situation,” Liang Mo explained with a smile.
“That’s a relief,” Lee Qianqian sighed with relief.
Lee Qianqian had been concerned that Ye Hao might become embroiled in a lawsuit for excessive use of force.
Once the forensic team had completed their work, both Ye Hao and Lee Qianqian had provided their testimonies.
“Let’s depart,” Liang Mo whispered.
Ye Hao and the others proceeded toward the warehouse’s exit.
At that moment, Lee Qianqian called out.
“What’s the matter?” Ye Hao and the others turned around, their expressions filled with surprise, as they looked at Lee Qianqian.
“Someone just blew cold air on the back of my neck,” Lee Qianqian said, turning to look, but there was no one in her vicinity.
“What?” Ye Hao exclaimed, taken aback.
Given the circumstances, it was inconceivable for Lee Qianqian to crack such a joke.
Liang Mo and the other police officers surveyed their surroundings with grave expressions.
“I haven’t encountered such an enchanting young lady in quite some time. You may remain here with me,” a frigid voice reverberated through the air at that very moment.
This voice instilled a sense of trepidation in Ye Hao and his companions.
In the wake of that voice, Lee Qianqian involuntarily started sliding away.
Liang Mo hastily lunged forward, clutching Lee Qianqian’s hand.
To Liang Mo’s astonishment, an icy force coursed through Lee Qianqian’s form, propelling Liang Mo’s 70-kilogram physique away in an instant.
Witnessing this spectacle unnerved the other policemen.
From a distance, it appeared as if invisible hands were tugging Lee Qianqian towards a mysterious destination.
The moment Liang Mo was repelled, Ye Hao dashed forward, firmly gripping Lee Qianqian’s delicate hand. An intensely chilling sensation crept into his body, yet he managed to endure it.
Despite his immunity to the cold, Ye Hao was powerless to halt Lee Qianqian’s inexorable slide forward.
Liang Mo and the fellow officers raced towards Ye Hao and his spouse.
At that juncture, they were flabbergasted to witness a swirling vortex materialize ten meters ahead of Lee Qianqian.
The vortex emitted a profound energy, as though it bridged a connection to another realm.
“Ye Hao, release her!” Liang Mo exclaimed.
It was beyond doubt that should Ye Hao maintain his grip on Lee Qianqian’s hand, he too would be ensnared by the vortex.
It wasn’t that Liang Mo was oblivious to the fact that if Ye Hao let go, it meant Lee Qianqian would be drawn into that whirlpool.
Nevertheless, one person’s demise was preferable to both perishing.
“Ye Hao, let go!” Lee Qianqian implored.
At last, Lee Qianqian comprehended the gravity of the situation.
There was no way Ye Hao could prevent her from entering the ominous black vortex.
In such a scenario, Lee Qianqian pondered why she had entangled Ye Hao in this predicament.
Ye Hao gazed intensely at Lee Qianqian, his voice carrying unwavering determination as he stated, “I promised to take you away.”
Just as Lee Qianqian was about to voice her thoughts, Ye Hao abruptly released her hand.
A profound sense of emptiness swept over Lee Qianqian’s heart.
Who would willingly meet their demise alongside her?
Unbeknownst to Lee Qianqian, the moment Ye Hao relinquished her hand, he activated his time-altering ability.
A mere second had been at Ye Hao’s disposal.
And that solitary second proved to be sufficient for him.
Ye Hao swiftly surpassed Lee Qianqian and drew a dagger from his waist, brandishing it before her.
In that fleeting moment, a piercing cry filled the air. In the next instant, Lee Qianqian felt the gravitational force pulling her dissipate.
What just happened?
As Lee Qianqian glimpsed Ye Hao standing before her, the realization dawned upon her.
Ye Hao had released her hand earlier to surge ahead of her.
“What kind of enchanted artifact are you wielding?” A chilling voice emanated from the vortex.
Ye Hao clenched the Bronze Dagger firmly, retorting icily, “Do you believe I would divulge that information?”
“The power of an enchanted artifact hinges on the user’s strength. Young man, you lack cultivation. So, even with a high-level enchanted artifact, what can you achieve?” As the voice concluded its statement, Ye Hao suddenly found himself ensnared by several ethereal tendrils.
Despite Ye Hao’s struggles, he was astonished to discover he could not budge. Subsequently, these tendrils began pulling him toward the vortex.
Instinctively, Lee Qianqian attempted to tug Ye Hao back.
However, the moment she touched Ye Hao’s garments, a frigid force repelled her.
Lee Qianqian hurried toward Ye Hao, but her path was swiftly blocked by Liang Mo.
“Please refrain from acting impulsively,” Liang Mo cautioned with a deep, steady tone.
Tearfully, Lee Qianqian exclaimed, “I must rescue Ye Hao!”
Liang Mo couldn’t bear the thought of losing Lee Qianqian as well. Thus, he gently grasped her and implored, “You can’t save him like this.”
As Ye Hao drew nearer to the ominous vortex, he felt a growing sense of helplessness, prompting a troubling notion within him.
“Will this be the end for me? Absolutely not!”
A resolute gleam filled Ye Hao’s eyes.
“I refuse to meet my demise! My parents would be utterly devastated!” With the menacing whirlpool inching closer, Ye Hao extended his left hand at this crucial juncture.
A tentacle firmly ensnared Ye Hao’s right hand, the one clutching the Bronze Dagger.
Consequently, Ye Hao could only rely on his injured left hand in this dire moment.
Astonishingly, as Ye Hao’s left hand made contact with the black vortex, the vortex mysteriously dissipated, followed by a heart-rending scream reverberating throughout the entire warehouse.
“No!”
What ensued was a chilling silence.
Liang Mo and the others were left in a state of shock.
Perplexity hung in the air.
Liang Mo, caught off guard, momentarily lost his grip on Lee Qianqian, who rushed to Ye Hao’s side and inquired anxiously, “Ye Hao, how are you?”
Ye Hao stared at his bleeding left hand in a daze, offering no immediate response.
Overwhelmed with concern, Lee Qianqian implored, “Ye Hao, don’t frighten me!” Her eyes welled with tears.
“I’m alright.” At that moment, Ye Hao’s gentle voice reassured Lee Qianqian.
Witnessing Ye Hao’s bright, intact eyes, Lee Qianqian threw herself into his embrace. She lightly tapped his chest and murmured, “Thank goodness you’re safe.”
