Chapter 14
C14 – Saving Lee Qianqian Alone
Ye Hao immediately recognized Bai Si’s handiwork.
After brief contemplation, he turned on his heels and headed towards warehouse number 13.
Previously, Ye Hao wouldn’t dare venture there alone. But now, with his transformed physique, he felt confident facing a dozen or more men.
When Lee Qianqian regained consciousness, she was alarmed to find herself tied to a chair.
In her proximity, several young men who appeared rather rough were engrossed in a poker game.
Lee Qianqian had no knowledge of these individuals.
Suddenly, one of the young men noticed her stirring and tossed his cards aside, remarking, “Fourth Brother, she’s awake.”
The group of young men promptly stood up.
Anxiety gripped Lee Qianqian.
“Finally, you’re awake,” a tall figure emerged before her.
Lee Qianqian’s eyes widened as she inquired, “How are you out so soon?”
There was no way Bai Si could have served just thirty days in prison!
Bai Si gazed at Lee Qianqian and explained, “After my arrest, the police dug up my past using some leads. Three years ago, during a robbery, I killed a couple. If they find evidence of this, I’m as good as dead.”
“So you escaped?”
Bai Si nodded and continued, “I managed to break free during a prisoner transfer. I can’t linger in Jiangnan City any longer. But I’m not going to leave without settling scores.”
A murderous glint flickered in Bai Si’s eyes as he declared, “Without revenge, I won’t find peace.”
Lee Qianqian’s expression took a somber turn.
In that moment, Bai Si moved closer to Lee Qianqian and extended his hand.
Suddenly, the warehouse door burst open with a resounding crash. Ye Hao entered, brandishing an iron rod.
Bai Si withdrew his hand and coolly appraised Ye Hao approaching. “You’ve got some nerve, young man.”
“Do I look as timid as you?” Ye Hao surveyed the surroundings, devising a strategy in secret.
“Ye Hao, did you call the cops?” Lee Qianqian felt a surge of relief at Ye Hao’s solitary arrival.
Ye Hao shook his head, replying, “I didn’t dare. His gang warned me that if I made that call, they’d kill you.”
Lee Qianqian was taken aback.
She hadn’t anticipated that Ye Hao truly refrained from involving the police!
However, Lee Qianqian became apprehensive as she recalled something and urged, “Ye Hao, run!”
“I came to rescue you,” Ye Hao grinned at Lee Qianqian.
“You fool! They’ll kill you!” Lee Qianqian exclaimed with anxiety.
“Who’s killing who isn’t set in stone,” Ye Hao wielded the iron rod and locked eyes with Bai Si and his cohorts. “Are you planning to confront me one by one?”
“Fourth Brother, I’ll take the lead,” a young man armed with a switchblade advanced towards Ye Hao, declaring, “Young man, today I’ll teach you a lesson.”
Upon hearing this, Ye Hao promptly activated his speed-reduction ability without hesitation.
In the next instant, his iron rod connected with the young man’s neck, eliciting a stifled groan before he crumpled to the ground.
The expressions of the dozen or so young men shifted involuntarily.
“Let’s strike together.” A dozen or so young men exchanged glances, steadily closing in on Ye Hao, brandishing iron rods and steel pipes.
“Ye Hao, run!” Lee Qianqian’s voice rang out as she witnessed the unfolding scene.
Yet, Ye Hao remained composed, meticulously calculating the seconds.
Fighting Taishi Xiu had left Ye Hao with only seven seconds on the clock.
He had to incapacitate this bunch of individuals within those seven seconds.
Ye Hao harbored a sense of satisfaction as they encircled him. This situation would, in fact, buy him precious time.
As they closed in within a mere two meters of Ye Hao, he promptly triggered his time-slowing ability. His iron rod swung, connecting soundly with the bodies of the two young men before him.
Those two crumpled, unconscious under Ye Hao’s swift strikes.
Ye Hao couldn’t afford to halt now; he pivoted, striking down the two assailants behind him.
Five breaths later, the dozen or so attackers lay sprawled, all incapacitated by Ye Hao.
In this moment, Bai Si and Lee Qianqian stared at Ye Hao in sheer astonishment.
They couldn’t even follow Ye Hao’s movements with their naked eyes.
It dawned on Bai Si that the previous encounter, in which Ye Hao had knocked him out, hadn’t been mere luck.
As Ye Hao advanced, Bai Si swiftly positioned his dagger at Lee Qianqian’s delicate throat.
“Advance another step, and I’ll end her.”
Ye Hao measured the distance between himself and Bai Si – a mere ten meters.
A single second was all he required to close the gap.
Without hesitation, he triggered his time-slowing ability.
In Bai Si’s vision, Ye Hao blurred into an afterimage. Instinctively, Bai Si aimed the dagger at Lee Qianqian’s neck.
At the critical juncture, Ye Hao snatched the razor-sharp dagger, simultaneously delivering a powerful kick to Bai Si’s groin.
Ye Hao sensed something giving way, and it was followed by Bai Si’s agonized howl.
“Are you okay?” Ye Hao turned his attention to the terrified Lee Qianqian and inquired.
Lee Qianqian had been utterly petrified.
The scorching blood that had dripped onto her body snapped her out of her fear-induced stupor.
She swiftly questioned, “Ye Hao, is your hand hurt?”
“I’ll manage,” Ye Hao responded, pivoting away.
Upon inspection, he discovered that the dagger had pierced right into his bone.
With gritted teeth, Ye Hao extracted the dagger, and his blood welled forth instantly.
Resisting the searing agony, he employed the dagger to sever the binding rope ensnaring Lee Qianqian.
Lee Qianqian discarded the rope and hastened to assess Ye Hao’s wounds.
As soon as she spotted the blood coating Ye Hao’s left hand, her eyes welled up with tears.
“How can you claim to be unharmed?” Lee Qianqian battled to regain composure, recalling some basic first aid knowledge she’d gleaned from a book.
Her gaze flitted to a young man donned in a white T-shirt.
Lee Qianqian wielded a switchblade to truncate a fragment of the young man’s T-shirt, then used it to fashion a makeshift bandage for Ye Hao’s injured hand.
Gradually, the flow of blood ceased from Ye Hao’s wound.
Lee Qianqian breathed a sigh of relief at the sight.
“So, what’s our next move?”
“Contact the authorities,” Ye Hao contemplated briefly before suggesting.
Ye Hao wasn’t concerned about facing legal repercussions for excessive self-defense.
These assailants were undeniably ruthless. If Ye Hao had unleashed his full might, subduing them would have been nigh impossible.
Before long, a contingent of heavily armed special police officers stormed in, accompanied by members and medics from the city’s criminal police division.
The head of the criminal police team inquired succinctly about the incident and couldn’t help but be astonished upon seeing Ye Hao.
“You took them down all?”
