Chapter 154: You talk a lot.
Chapter 154: You talk a lot.
It was a new experience, it was another occurrence that proved how big and mysterious Genesis was. He received a quest that basically had no information but as soon as the church was mentioned, the quest was updated. However, that didn't necessarily make it better. The only clear instruction was to visit the Church of Artemis.
But what was so special about the church?
Even though Vraun wasn't the biggest of Kingdoms, there were many churches, all strategically placed. Naturally, these were for Dionysus and Demeter, however, there was one other church. A new one and this was the church of Artemis. While that wasn't anything too great, it symbolized the rapid growth of a religion.
Night had a choice, it was a risky one, but one he had to make. Was he to assist the others with the monster wave? Or was he to visit the church? Of course, there was the option to do both, but considering the events that lead up to the quest updating and the entire circumstance, it made sense to choose one.
After all, both of the situations seemed to be weirdly interrelated, and there was a reason that this was the case. 'Arghhh, why do I bother, it's obvious where I'm going...'
"Uh change of plans," Night said bringing everyone to a pause.
"What does that mean?"
"This isn't the time to be changing anything"
Of course, the only ones that spoke up were Nate and Pythia who were in a serious discussion as to what should be done regarding the monster wave and the church of Artemis, as well as The Primordials associating themselves with the Kingdom of Vraun.
"I need to visit....the Church of....Artemis.." Night answered in a slow and dragged-out tone.
"But why the sudden change?" Alaric asked. Right now in the room, other than Pythia and Nate, Alaric, Cassandra, and Layla were perhaps the only ones that didn't think with their heart or sword. While Mocha wasn't as impulsive as Eve, he was definitely not one who could be considered reasonable or rational.
As childish as Cassandra and Alaric tend to come off, they were the future Queen and the Current King of Vraun, there was a reason the Kingdom flourished. Besides, even if they weren't initially like that, Pythia would've beaten them into shape.
"..."
He wasn't speechless because he didn't want to say, honestly, Night wasn't someone who would withhold information for no reason. It was easier if everyone knew the cards on the table, however, even if Night wanted to do so, at the max they would count as blank cards.
"I'm not sure...I don't know, I just have this feeling that I should go," Night explained in a low voice, "I want to visit it. Take Shade with you, Noctis is more than enough to cover for me in case things go wrong,"
"...." There was no point in denying or even trying to protest what Night said. As loyal as Shade was, he wasn't blind. He could see how serious His Lord was and by the looks of it, even the others could.
"I don't mind, but hopefully once you're done, you can help us answer a few questions," Pythia responded calmly. Even without Noel, the group would do wonders. Another reason as to why the Imperial Kingdom was so fierce was due to its military force. The soldiers of Vraun were only a little above the level of Nate and the others. Of course, there were a few exceptions to this as well. However, even if the benefit of the doubt was given to the soldiers of Vraun who were above level 200, they were nothing compared to the Imperial Kingdom.
"Yes, that would help a lot. Are you sure you don't need any one of us?" Nate asked, he more or less knew that Night must've gotten a weird quest but that raised the question as to why he couldn't talk about it.
"Yes, I'm su-....." before he could finish his sentence, his voice completely stopped as his eyes fell upon Everzone, who was nervously looking around, as it was his first time in such a place.
"Whatever just take him and go," Nate said as he realized who Night was looking at.
"Cool thanks," Night replied as he threw his arm over Everzone's shoulder and dragged him away, "see you guys later! And have fun! Oh and make sure you keep the Kingdom safe"
Once they left the Royal Castle, the pair immediately set off to the Church of Artemis. The main streets were filled with cheers and laughter, there wasn't a hint of fear or worry. The only thing that was even remotely unusual was the random blue-robed men running around in a hurry.
'Well they aren't really summoning anything dangerous right now...so...'
Night ignored the frantic men and focused more on the pleasantries. Properly looking at Vraun made it obvious as to why Dionysus and Demeter were the patron Gods. Almost every house had a small front or back yard where crops were grown. At the same time, another popular crop was the grapevine.
"So tell me, what did you think about being in the same team as the one who beat you?" Night asked Everzone as they cruised through the crowd.
"Oh....I don't think anything about it...honestly, everything that has happened so far is a new occurrence. Besides, wasn't Senior Nate an enemy as well?" Everzone asked inquisitively. It was clear from the way he spoke that he was getting more comfortable and calm around Night.
"Well, it is different because Nate and I knew each other, actually, everyone in the group previously met, even if they didn't meet, they were at least aware that the other person wasn't hostile." As calm as he sounded while explaining, Night was curious as to what made Mocha change his mind. As far as he knew, Mocha was uncomfortable with people knowing his identity.
"Um, Senior Night..." Everzone muttered in a questioning tone, "how long until we reach the Church?"
"Hmm...I swear Nate mentioned this, well whatever there's a simpler method," Night said before he threw his Glacial Balance into the alley they just happened to cross.
*HIIIEEK*
It was similar to a young girl shrieking except it was barely audible. Night found it funny how Vraun was a place where crime wasn't common at all, one of the reasons for this was the fundamental personality of everyone here. However, at the same time, this fundamental personality of theirs could easily be exploited. The Kingdom was loud and lively always, they had nothing to worry about, a murderer would have a feast in such a place.
"Let's ask this one now," Night said as he slowly and sneakily dragged Everzone into the alley.
"Well well well, what do we ha-"
"No please forgive me, I didn't mean to do it, I will tell you everything you want, please spare me, it's all Pope Moonstar and the elder's fault, it was them. I had nothing to do with the Forest please leave me alone, please I beg you, you don't understand, I have a family to feed, my grandparents are dying, my parents uhh they're adventurers, please, I beg you man, I will become your true follower, your number one fan, you know? So I ask you to let me live, no I plead you. Actually, wait, I don't care, you can't do anything to me, I'm a follower of uh someone. Hah, you thought I was afraid? You must be as foolish as you lo-....uh as foolish as the kid next to you loo-....whatever, you must be foolish!" It was nonstop, the man just wouldn't stop yapping, even then he only stopped to properly look at Night and Everzone's face, " I mean honestly, you're a pretty good-looking lad right? Both of yall are, come on then, do me a favour and help a brother out, come on then, I know you want to, why would you stain those pretty faces with the blood of a somewhat innocent being? Go ahead actually kill me, I have no family anyway, everyone's either dead or well...dead actually, huh that says a lot-"
"SHUT UP FOR FCKS SAKE!" Night said as he punched the wall next to the blue-robed man, "WHY ON EARTH???!!! DO YOU??!?! TALK??!?! SO MUCH??!?!?! YOU LITERALLY JUST ASKED ME TO SPARE YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE FAMILY OR WHATEVER AND THEN, NO NO IT GETS GOOD, AND THEN YOU PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THEY'RE DEAD??"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"No, you see why it's an issue? I can't believe that didn't work! I was so close but wham! and everything went to shit. He just had to be that talented, urgh. It makes me sick that a mortal is that absurd."
"Hah, well what'd you expect, simply acting for the sake of chaos is fun and all, and it's safer because, well...it works but this time...haha this time you made a mistake. You just had to get your feelings involved, didn't you?"
"Oh? Because you never made any mistakes? Remember the mistletoe dumbass?"
