Chapter 153: The Messenger.
Chapter 153: The Messenger.
'I wonder what the notifications reading, "resisted!" were about. Why is another unknown being watching me again? A God and a Primordial isn't enough? I should ask Night about this. If it is another God, what's the occasion? Unless there's a God of extinguishing a fire, I don't see anything else....'
Nate was deep in thoughts as the entire group finally arrived before the castle. After meeting up with Mocha, Davinky, and Noxx, they went straight to meet Noel and the King.
"They sure treat you with respect huh?" Mocha questioned when he saw the guard's behavior towards Night, even the guards stationed outside the Royal Castle showed Night the same respect they show Royalty. Night left the blue robed men with the royal guards, considering how annoying it was to drag them along, he was in no mood to entertain them any further.
"Meh, perks of being the student of a Legend," Night waved it off as if it was nothing. However, this was new information to them, they were aware of Noel's strength only through the tales and the random mentioning and initially, Mocha and the group found it hard to believe but after Night just confirmed it for them, it was obvious that they were just fooling themselves.
As expected everyone there except Nate fell silent, it wasn't like they were surprised but it was just another adding another hundred steps between Night and them. However, it didn't hit as bad anymore, they were a clan and it was pointless to feel that way. Everyone felt that way, well, everyone except Everzone, who was surprised to hear the new information.
"Woah...is that...true?"
"Yeah, we're here, now let me tell you the King's daughter can be a litt-"
"MY SON! You're here, after such a long time," Cassandra's voice echoed through the luxurious corridors as she immediately pulled Night into an embrace.
"He's right, she is lit," Davinky whispered to Noxx.
"Your Highness-"
"Mother" she interrupted.
"....Mother...you've met most of them before but this is a dear friend of mine, Nate" Night said as he pointed to his friend.
"Ah, of course, I'm Cassandra Tristan, certainly a pleasure to meet you,"
"The pleasure is mine, Your Highness," Nate said as he kneeled and imitated Shade's actions towards Night.
"Hoho, anyway, there is something that must be discussed so let's go to the courtroom alright?" Cassandra said as she turned around and began walking. However, a similar scene played out in front of Night. It was the same thing that happened to him.
"YOU-" Pythia yelled as she hastily rushed towards Nate, "how did you do it?? Tell me! was it an artifact? You're from the Imperial Kingdom aren't you?" Pythia completely ignored Night's presence, not that she needed to specifically greet him. Her status in the kingdom was in a way higher than the king's itself.
*KRRRRRRRRRUUURRRRR*
Before anyone of them could react, Noctis let out a low growl from Shade's head, the color of his eyes very slowly changed. It was natural he would behave this way. Nate was Night's closest friend and Noctis and Shade knew this fact.
"Woah, calm down now, both of you," Night said as he stepped in between Noctis and Pythia, "it certainly is a pleasure to meet you, Madam Pythia..."
"Alright fine, I stopped! See?! I didn't mean to harm your precious little buddy," Pythia explained to Noctis, "and yes, lovely seeing you again child,"
However, before anyone could reply another voice echoed in the wide corridor, once again it was a familiar voice, it belonged to someone even Night, The Anomaly would proudly bow down to. Obviously, it belonged to Noel, only he dared to talk to The Oracle of Delphi in such a manner.
"Sack of bones stop ogling my disciple's friend,"
"Master..." Night said as he knelt down and greeted the man that stood in front of him. The second he did that, Shade was right next to His Lord, there was no way Shade would let Night bow down to anyone, at least not alone.
"Get up kid, you're making me seem like some kind of a tyrant in front of your new friends hahahahaha," Noel laughed heartily, "anyway, introduce me,"
"Of course master,"

Once everyone properly introduced themselves to Noel as well as the others, including King Alaric who was nonchalantly seated on the throne when the group entered, the talk regarding the monsters and the current situation of Vraun commenced. However, just before they could begin, Pythia interrupted the meeting and asked Nate a question,
"If you do not wish to answer me properly then fine, but tell me, are you just like Night boy?"
"...."
It was definitely something to think about. Naturally, everyone except the new members of The Primordials understood what was being talked about. It was something that nudged their curious personality's and honestly, it was important to know.
"Yes...I am..." Nate answered after thinking about it for a bit. While he had no obligation to tell her, he felt it was necessary considering the fact that Night shared a close relationship with them, and they were soon going to propose an alliance with the Kingdom, so revealing a little bit about himself was a small price to pay.
"....I see. Anyway, we can talk about this later if you wish to. You said there was something important that we should know?"
"Yes you see....well. As you know, there was a sudden increase in public faith in Goddess Artemis, while it was sudden and slightly unusual, we began to speculate what could've happened. However, on our way here, we discovered something...Interesting. We witnessed around ten or more men in dark blue robes that had a moon and a deer as symbols...."
"What? But those are the followers of Artemis, what could they possibly be doing there?"
"That's what we wanted to know, and only when we went up close did we realize that they were hostile. Unfortunately, at that point, it was too late...."
The meeting went on for another few minutes, it was a little too much to call it a meeting considering it was literally only Nate and Pythia talking most of the time.
"And the men?? What did you do with them??"
"Oh they're with the royal guards, we left them there before entering, there's no way we could do endanger everyone in the castle...."
"Good choice!"
"Yeah yeah whatever, anyway, it looks like there's a lot more to be talked about. The church of Artemis definitely needs some rewiring or perhaps some renovating," Noel said with an evil smile.

'What....it's still weird? I don't understand....'

"Bah, I told the kid to just pray to me. All he needs to do is pray and I'll be there and not once has he called for me, it's annoying. To make thing's worse, these godforsaken Imperials just want to slaughter or annex everything that's in their sight. However, there was one good thing I suppose. I got to witness a Legend in battle hahaha! Quite impressive if I must say, actually very impressive but to think there would be someone who was equally if not more interesting, hiding away in the Imperial Kingdom.."
"Descendant of Achilles eh? It's been a while since I've heard that name, well honestly, I just hope none of this falls onto the kid. He's still not strong enough to protect himself from the other Gods. Let alone Gods, I don't think he's strong enough to protect himself from anything. I'm pretty sure he can't even take on a Cyclops alone."
"Haah, it's so boring here in the mortal world, but for some reason, all the evil shiznit happens here, it's weird. Well, hopefully, it stays a little peaceful, at least until he grows, you know? We can't have Mount Edna or something erupting ahaha, there's just no way anyone can deal with that you know? At least, not yet."
"Boy but those Dragonborns sure are a wild bunch. They're practically gods and all they care about is spilling blood and conquest, even I don't feel safe going there, phew. Thank god for the sea in between the two continents huh?"
It was a weird sight, it was just one grumpy-looking man who was busy talking to the staff in his hand. Anyone would guess he was senile, but it was impossible to see through his disguise. He was a Divine-being after all, not just any Divine-being. He was one of the 12 Olympians,
Hermes, the Messenger of the Gods.
