Chapter 722 Ferdinand’s Friend
Chapter 722 Ferdinand’s Friend
For the rest of the day, Kevin and Kanae stayed within the hotel. They didn’t go anywhere because there was not much that they could do. Matt didn’t allow them to go out on the first day.
"The hotel will have to prepare more food if you eat this much every meal, Kanae," Kevin looked at the empty plates in front of Kanae. He wondered how she managed to eat much more than him.
"I’m hungry," Kanae grinned.
"I can see that. Let me wipe your mouth, there’s rice."
"Ah, thanks."
Ignoring the gaze around him, Kevin stretched out his hand and used his handkerchief to wipe Kanae’s mouth. His movement was done carefully as if he was worried that he would hurt her.
"It’s already night. Let’s walk around the hotel."
"Yes!"
Standing up from her seat, Kanae walked to Kevin’s side. He placed her hand in his own before guiding her away from the place. The soft hand felt extremely comfortable as they walked around without any specific direction. At the same time, they were memorizing the layout of the hotel.
"There are a lot of rooms," Kanae looked at the rooms around them. They were mostly using the same layout, but she could see the difference between each place.
"They make it like a maze."
"Won’t it make the guests find it hard to return back to their room?" Kanae asked curiously.
"This place is known as the maze hotel. The structure is designed to make it entertaining because some people just love the difference in layout for each floor," a voice sounded from behind them.
Kanae and Kevin stopped and turned around. They could see a man standing behind them. He was wearing a black formal suit. If not for his tanned skin and well-built muscle that they could only faintly guess, they would think that this man was an ordinary citizen.
"Hello," Kanae greeted the man. "Nice to meet you, Sir."
The man nodded his head. He looked at the two of them. "Nice to meet you, Kanae and Kevin."
The two of them tensed up when they heard the man called them using their real name. They had never seen the man before. After all, today was the very first day they came to this city. Even though they couldn’t sense any hostility from this man, it would be better to stay careful.
"Have we met before?" Kevin asked in a cold tone.
The man arched his eyebrows. He could sense the wariness that these two exuded in a split second. In just an instant, they were looking at him full of wariness and readiness to fight.
"Nope," The man replied nonchalantly. "My name is Richard, I’m one of the soldiers stationed in this city."
Richard?
The two of them have never heard this name before, so they looked back at Richard. Their eyes held deep wariness for they didn’t want to create any trouble, yet at the same time, they didn’t want to lose their lives.
"What do you want from us, Mr. Richard?" Kanae asked solemnly.
Richard was watching their movement with interest. He had heard the news regarding the two of them not long ago, so his curiosity piqued up. Upon meeting the two of them, he realized that they were not ordinary teenagers. Even though they were barely 18 and 19 years old, they seemed more similar to that of a veteran soldier.
"I just want to know: how did you two manage to defeat Ferdinand?"
From their built and aura alone, he could gauge that their strength should be below Ferdinand. Knowing that Ferdinand has some weird abilities that allow the man to wield more power than ordinary people, it was hard to believe that these brats would be able to defeat them. They were extraordinary, but he didn’t see anything more than that.
Kevin narrowed his gaze. "Why do you think we defeat Ferdinand?"
"I received the report," Richard replied shortly. "Ferdinand is my underling, so of course, I monitor his every action."
Underling?
Both Kanae and Kevin were shocked to hear that word. They eyed Richard cautiously. If there was anyone stronger than Ferdinand, they would be doomed. Their strength alone was not enough to deal with Ferdinand. Much less if that particular person was stronger than Ferdinand.
"You should stop scaring them, Richard," Matt walked towards them. His expression was gloomy because he didn’t expect to see Richard in this place. It seemed the news traveled faster than he thought.
Richard snorted. "Do you think they can be easily scared? The report that I receive stated these brats as the strongest people in that city."
Matt looked at Kanae and Kevin. "This is Richard, the commander for every national soldier in this city. He holds the highest authority and command them all, but you don’t have to worry about defeating him. Both of you are far stronger than this middle-aged man."
"Don’t spout nonsense, Matt."
"I’m just introducing you to them," Matt shrugged. "I have called your assistant. He must be worried that their leader hasn’t returned yet."
The two of them glared at each other. Even though it was a simple exchange, Kanae and Kevin could sense the killing intent that they leaked out to each other. It seemed that their relationships were not that good.
"I’ll be going now. Brat, we’ll talk again later."
Watching Richard’s back, Kevin’s eyes narrowed once again. Even though Matt said that they were stronger than this man, he could sense the faint danger from Richard. In a real battle, strength didn’t only come from their selves, but also the surrounding and how they managed the situation.
If they had to fight against Richard, things wouldn’t end so peacefully.
"Are you two alright?"
"He can’t do anything to us," Kanae grinned. "It’s nothing much, Uncle Matt."
Matt: "..." I’m an uncle now?
"What is his relation with Ferdinand?" Kevin went straight to the point.
"Ferdinand’s team is under Richard. Like I say, he holds the control for every single soldier, including the special team. He’s the one giving orders to them, meaning, he’s Ferdinand’s superior and friend. Some of my men say that they’re pretty close."
Kanae frowned. "Will he take revenge to us?"
"I don’t know," Matt replied. "He has more than enough strength if he wants revenge. The soldiers in this country obey him much more than their own leader because he’s the highest rank leader. I would recommend you to not make him your enemy."
"We already killed his friend."
"I know."
Kevin’s eyes flashed with ruthlessness. "If he wants to take his revenge on us, I don’t mind playing with him."
"Kevin, you come here just for testimonies."
"If that annoying middle aged man tries to bully us, we won’t stay silent. I’ll let him have a taste of my sword."
"Kanae, how did you bring your sword?"
"Good idea, Kanae," Kevin nodded his head.
"Of course."
Seeing these two were eager to beat Richard should that man make any move; Matt rubbed his forehead. He should know better that these two were already in their own world. From the bottom of his heart, he hoped that this matter could be cleared in the peaceful way.
