Under The Veil of Night

Chapter 721 Capital City

Chapter 721 Capital City

"I thought you’ll be waiting for us in the destination place," Kanae commented when she saw Matt standing in front of them.

Matt smiled wryly. His youthful face didn’t match his age at all. Right now, people wouldn’t be able to guess that this man was already pretty old as he looked like their ’elder brother.’

"I have to make sure that you two won’t create any trouble. Have you finished the matter of this city?"

"Yes," Kevin replied shortly.

The matter of this city was handled by Jason and the others. Kevin barely has to do anything else at the front, so he was pretty idle. Of course, he had to start expanding his business if he wanted to gain better foothold in this city.

"I’ll explain about the capital city on our way," Matt glanced at their bags. "Are you sure that you only need to bring that much?"

The two of them only brought two large backpacks. Even though their size alone said that they brought a lot of items, he doubted that it would be enough for days. After all, normally people would bring more items when they were going to visit a new place.

"I don’t really have many things that I want to bring," Kanae shrugged. If it was necessary, she would just wash her own clothes while they were staying in the capital. There was no need to fit a lot of items in her backpack.

Matt shook his head lightly before walking away. He handed them their tickets and guided them to the plane. Upon seeing the large plane up-close, Kanae’s eyes widened.

"I never know that they’re this big," Kanae murmured.

"Is this your first time riding a plane?"

"Yes."

Kevin shrugged. "Just treat it like you’re riding a bus. It’s not any different."

"Really?" Kanae asked doubtfully.

"Once you’re inside, you won’t be able to sense the difference."

Matt had prepared the business class ticket for them, so their chairs were extremely comfortable. Kanae and Kevin sat side by side while Matt sat behind them.

"I’ll start explaining about the capital city. The buildings are not much different from your city, but there are different regulations. The largest difference is the fact that the capital city didn’t have any Black Street, so I hope you can rein yourself from roaming around at night."

"There’s restriction to go out at night?" Kanae asked curiously.

"Yes. You can’t stay outside after 11 PM at night if you’re underage."

"I’m already 18," Kanae rolled her eyes in displeasure.

Matt shook his head. "You may be considered as an adult, but here, the only people who can roam on the streets during the night are only people who have reached the age above 25."

"Why 25?"

"That’s the rule," Matt shrugged. He was not that nosy to search for every single reason they created the rules. Besides, he had much more important works to do rather than searching for them all.

"Anything else we have to remember?" Kevin changed the subject.

"You can act normally since there are many people from different cities in the capital every single day. Try not to offend anyone you found in the capital city because you wouldn’t know what their background is. Many influential people love to wear normal clothes."

"Now, that’s quite complicated," Kanae murmured. In their city, it would be an extraordinary feat for someone from an influential family to act extremely humble. They wouldn’t want to roam and act normal because those people were usually targeted by the gangsters and so on.

"I just hope you won’t create any trouble," Matt rubbed his forehead. He knew that if they wanted to create trouble, it would be very easy. Not even the greatest hacker could stop them from hacking and their physical abilities were top notch.

In the end, Matt had to tell them most of the rules in the city. In the middle of the explanation, Kanae chose to sleep. She felt rather sleepy to hear the same phrase that was being repeated by Matt.

"Kanae... this involves the matter of life and death," Matt rolled his eyes when he saw the two of them acted disinterested.

"We can remember things very easily even though you only say them once," Kevin said calmly. "There’s no need to feel annoyed. We will behave well, Uncle Matt."

Matt: "..." even though my age did suit to be their uncle, I don’t like being called like that.

Seeing that the two of them could stay composed, Matt chose to not delve into the matter anymore. He knew that they were very capable based on his observation during his time in the city. All that he had to do was watch them to not act completely on impulse.

The journey in the plane will take hours, so it was best for them to sleep. Knowing this, Matt didn’t bother them anymore until it was the time for the plane to land.

"Have you woken up, Kevin, Kanae?"

"I’m awake," Kanae yawned and opened her eyes slowly. The first thing she saw was Kevin’s side profile as the man was busy reading. "Good morning."

"Good afternoon," Kevin replied and returned back the magazine that he took from the side.

Kanae eyed the magazine curiously. "Did you not sleep?"

"I’m not sleepy," Kevin replied flatly. In truth, he couldn’t sleep because she was looking at his direction. With her face so close to him, he couldn’t calm down even if he wanted to. The only thing he could do was making sure that he was busy enough to not think of anything inappropriate.

"You can sleep later in the hotel that I have prepared," Matt remarked. "For today, don’t venture out of the city."

"Ok."

The three of them got out of the plane when it was the time. Seeing the colorful building, Kanae’s eyes widened. Her sharp sense told her the difference of this city that she felt clearly.

"The capital is much livelier," Kanae commented.

Kevin nodded. "And dangerous."

"Yes."

The two of them could sense the malicious gaze that several people gave to them. Even though their appearances were rather ordinary, their clothes were pretty good. At the standard of this city, they still could be considered as well off. This was the reason many people gave them some glances with hidden motives behind them.

"We’ll get used to them," Kanae shrugged. She had faced them during her youth because many people wished for her downfall. This degree was already nothing in her eyes.

"I’m more interested in the buildings," Kevin changed the topic. "There are some different types of architecture."

"Brother Matt says that there are some changes because of the history. This place is more like a port because of the sea at the border, so it’s easy for new kinds of ideas to come in. Besides, the internet is growing at a fast rate lately."

"You’re correct, but you shouldn’t have called Matt like that."

"Why? Is it wrong to call him as brother?" Kanae tilted her head in confusion. Matt was more than a decade older than her, so she preferred to use some honorific when calling the man.

"You should call him ’uncle,’" Kevin shrugged.

Kanae: "..."

She knew that he was much older than her, but his appearance made it hard to call him that way.

"Hey, why are you going ahead of me?" Matt strode to their place. "I’m searching for you two everywhere."

"We’re here the entire time."

"I can’t sense you at all."

"It’s normal, isn’t it?" Kanae giggled. The two of them would unconsciously hide their presence in normal times. Because of that, they would be able to escape the watchful eyes around them.

Matt rolled his eyes. "Just follow after me. I’ll take you to the hotel."
