Chapter 225 RESULTS DAY!
The room was silent, save for Jack's faint breathing. His color had already begun to return, and the arm, though immobile, looked as if it had never been severed.
Jackson stared, his mouth agape. "Boss… how?" Explore stories on empire
Noah glanced at him, his expression unreadable. "You asked for my help. This is what I do."
Jack's stirred, his eyes fluttering open. "Ja… Jackson?" he croaked.
Jackson dropped to his knees beside his brother, his voice trembling. "Jack! I'm here, You're okay!"
The other men in the room exchanged stunned looks, some whispering in disbelief. "That's… impossible," one of them muttered. "No doctor can do that."
Noah stood, packing his tools back into the bag. "He'll need rest. No heavy lifting, no stress on the arm for at least two weeks. After that, he should be as good as new."
Jackson grabbed Noah's hand, his eyes brimming with gratitude. "Boss… I don't even know how to thank you."
Noah shook his head slightly, his voice calm but firm. "Don't worry about it, Jackson. Just tell me—what exactly happened to him?"
Jackson hesitated, scratching the back of his head as he glanced at his still-recovering brother. "It's not what you think, boss. My brother was trying out one of the new machines we received… a faulty conveyor setup. He got too close to the edge while adjusting something, and the blade… well, you know the rest."
Noah's brows furrowed slightly, but his tone remained steady. "Faulty setup? Did you check it thoroughly before letting anyone near it?"
Jackson winced at the question, looking down like a scolded child. "We did… but clearly, not well enough. I didn't think it'd malfunction so soon after installation. It was my oversight, boss."
Noah nodded, his voice carrying an edge of authority. "Accidents happen, but they don't excuse negligence. From now on, I want every piece of equipment double-checked—no, triple-checked—before anyone uses it. I don't care how much time it takes. Safety comes first."
"Yes, boss," Jackson said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll make sure it doesn't happen again."
Noah adjusted his bag over his shoulder and turned toward the exit. "I'm busy right now, so I'll head out. Let me know immediately if anything changes with your brother's condition."
"Yes, boss. Thank you… again." Jackson's voice trembled slightly as he spoke.
...
A few weeks passed by since the incident with Jackson and his brother. Noah's time was spent either attending to his several businesses, hanging out with his family and sometimes Amelia, or training the special forces team. Life had settled into a balanced, albeit busy, routine.
At the breakfast table one morning, Caroline looked at Noah with a mixture of excitement and curiosity. "Noah, honey, today's the day you get your results. How are you feeling about it?"
Noah, finishing his scrambled eggs with a calm demeanor, glanced at his mother and replied, "It's alright, Mom. I'm sure I did well in those exams."
Caroline smiled proudly, resting her chin in her hand. "You've already made us so proud, sweetheart. This is just another step. Right, David?" she said, turning to her husband.
David, sipping his coffee and reading the morning paper, gave a nod of agreement. "Of course. I don't even have to worry. I know our son has done well. We just have to wait for the good news."
Caroline beamed, and Emily, who had been silently munching on her toast, suddenly jumped up from her seat, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Brother, brother! Please take me with you! I want to be there when you get your results!"
Noah raised an eyebrow at her, setting his fork down. "Emily, why would you want to come? It's just a boring day with some papers. You'll probably be bored out of your mind."
Emily puffed her cheeks in defiance. "I don't care! I want to be there when you make Mom and Dad super proud. And besides, I packed snacks!" She held up her backpack triumphantly as if it were the ultimate argument.
Caroline chuckled. "She's been talking about this day all week, Noah. Just let her tag along."
David added with a smirk, "Seems like she's more confident in your results than you are."
Noah sighed theatrically, leaning back in his chair. "Fine, Em. You can come. But no making a scene, alright?"
Emily grinned ear to ear, running to grab her shoes. "Yay! This is going to be so much fun!"
Noah finished his breakfast and got up, grabbing his car keys from the counter. As he turned toward the door, Emily was already waiting, practically bouncing on her toes with excitement. "Let's go, let's go!"
Caroline and David exchanged a glance filled with warmth and pride as they watched the two siblings head out. "That boy of ours," Caroline said with a smile. "He's growing into someone truly incredible."
David nodded, folding his newspaper. "And he still takes the time to be a good big brother. Can't ask for more than that."
With a wave and a promise to update them as soon as the results were in, Noah and Emily climbed into his car and set off toward the school. Emily couldn't stop chattering about what she'd do once he got his results, her excitement filling the car with energy.
Arriving at the school, Noah parked his G-Wagon just outside the main entrance, its sleek design and gleaming finish drawing more attention than he intended. Students milling around the grounds turned to look, whispers immediately spreading through the crowd.
"Who do you think that is? I don't remember anyone in our year having a car like that."
"Maybe it's a guest speaker or something?"
As Noah stepped out of the car, a wave of shocked gasps and murmurs swept through the students. Heads turned, and conversations erupted around him.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"No way, that's Noah Thompson?"
"Isn't he the guy people said owned a hotel or something? I thought it was just a wild rumour!"
"And he's smart too! Ugh, talk about unfair."
A girl with glasses near the entrance stared at him with wide eyes, nudging her friend. "Rich, smart, and good-looking. Imagine having kids with his genes. They'd be unstoppable."
Noah, ignoring the murmurs, opened the passenger door for Emily, who hopped out with a bright grin. She didn't seem to notice—or care about—the attention, already pulling at his hand to guide him toward the main building.
Inside, the buzz of students chatting and comparing notes filled the air. Noah walked through the crowd with an air of calm detachment, nodding slightly when a few classmates greeted him. Many stared at him with a mix of curiosity and awe, but he paid them little mind, and focused on reaching the results area.
Among the throng of familiar faces, one stood out—Lily. Spotting him from across the room, she immediately made her way over, her smile lighting up her face as she approached.
"Noah! Hey!" she called, her voice cutting through the ambient noise. She reached him quickly, her gaze shifting down to Emily. "And Emily! You're here too! Wow, you're getting taller every time I see you."
Emily beamed. "Hi, Lily! I came to see my brother get his results. He's gonna ace it, just watch!"
Lily chuckled, kneeling slightly to Emily's level. "I don't doubt it for a second. Your brother's always been a genius, hasn't he?"
Standing back up, Lily turned her attention to Noah, her expression warm. "How are you feeling? Confident about the results?"
Noah shrugged casually. "I'm sure I did well. No reason to stress about it."
Lily raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Still as composed as ever. Must be nice to be that sure of yourself."
He gave her a faint smirk. "When you prepare, there's no need for doubt."
Emily tugged on his arm. "Lily, are you going to get your results too?"
"Of course," Lily replied with a smile. "I'm just waiting for the crowd to thin out a bit. But I had to come say hi when I saw you two."
Minutes passed, and the hum of conversation in the room subsided as the headmaster walked onto the podium. He adjusted the microphone, clearing his throat. The silence that followed was punctuated by the occasional shuffling of feet or the hushed murmurs of students.
"Good morning, everyone," the headmaster began, his deep, calm voice resonating through the hall. "It's an exciting day, isn't it? Today marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and determination. For many of you, this is not just the end of one chapter but the beginning of another."
Some students straightened up in their seats, listening attentively, while others exchanged knowing glances, whispering to their friends.
"Now," he continued, a small smile tugging at his lips, "I know this past year has been particularly challenging. Between the countless hours spent studying, preparing for exams, and navigating the ups and downs of life as a student, each of you has shown remarkable perseverance. And for that, I want to say—well done."
A few scattered claps broke out before the headmaster raised a hand to pause them. "Now, now, save the applause for yourselves when you see those results."
