Chapter 224 Advanced Miracle-Doctor Skill
"Noah," he started, glancing at him. "There's something you should know about Henderson."
Noah raised an eyebrow but didn't interrupt. He allowed Adam to continue, knowing exactly what was coming.
"I don't know how much he's told you," Adam said, "but Henderson wasn't always the man you see now. He was one of the best in his prime—a top-tier soldier in the special forces. His team relied on him, and trusted him with their lives. But then..." Adam trailed off, his face clouding briefly.
"An injury," Noah said flatly, cutting through Adam's hesitation.
Adam blinked, surprised. "He told you?"
Noah shook his head, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "He didn't have to."
Adam's brow furrowed, clearly puzzled, but he didn't press further. Instead, he continued. "After that injury, everything changed for him. He left the military and fell into a slump. It's not easy for someone like him to go from being a hero to a shadow of himself."
Noah remained silent, his expression unreadable. Inside, he was already piecing together the next steps.
"When I saw him here today," Adam added, "I barely recognized him. It's like he's back to his old self—or better. And I feel like, that's because of you." Discover stories at empire
Adam's brows furrowed slightly as he watched Noah, his words replaying in his mind. The younger man stood there with his usual calm and composed demeanour, his arms crossed and a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
"When I saw him here today," Adam repeated, as if grounding himself in reality, "I barely recognized him. It's like he's back to his old self—or better. And I feel like that's because of you."
Noah's smirk widened, though his tone remained nonchalant. "Well, he came to me and asked about healing. You know I dabble a bit in medicine," he said, waving a hand as if it was nothing more than a casual hobby.
"Since I saw that you had a past with him, I agreed to help. He must be someone extraordinary if he earned your respect. But I didn't expect him to end up in my team. That was… a surprise." He chuckled lightly.
Adam's mouth twitched.
'Dabble in medicine?' His thoughts whirled with disbelief. 'This is the same guy who healed my father—a man who was on the brink of death, beyond the help of the best doctors in the world—and he calls it 'dabbling'?'
"Extraordinary, huh?" Adam said aloud, forcing his expression into something resembling neutrality. "Well, that's an understatement for Henderson. But you—" He pointed at Noah with an accusatory finger, though his tone was teasing. "You're the real enigma here."
Noah raised an eyebrow, his smirk never faltering. "Me? I'm just a guy who likes to keep things interesting."
Adam rolled his eyes but couldn't help the laugh that escaped. "You're impossible, you know that? Every time I think I have you figured out, you do something that throws me off."
Noah leaned back against the edge of a nearby bench, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Keeps life exciting, doesn't it?"
Adam shook his head, muttering under his breath. "Exciting isn't the word I'd use."
...
The next morning, Noah headed to the bathroom to start of his day.
After his mourning routine, Noah checked out his Exchange Shop skill. Curious, he activated it and browsed through the items available for purchase.
One item caught his eye, standing out from the rest:
[Skill Enhancement Token: Upgrade Any Intermediate Level Skill to Advanced Level] – $5,000,000.
A small smirk tugged at his lips. "Perfect," he muttered, immediately purchasing it without hesitation.
[Skill Enhancement Token has been received!]
As the notification chimed, Noah opened his skill inventory. His gaze swept across the list of intermediate-level skills, analyzing each one carefully:
> Intermediate Driving Skills
> Intermediate Cooking Skills
> Intermediate Teaching Skill
> Intermediate Miracle-Doctor Skill
> Intermediate Marketing Skills
> Intermediate Accountant Skill
> Intermediate Goldcraft
Noah frowned slightly, leaning back in his chair as he weighed his options. Two skills stood out among the rest—Goldcraft and Miracle-Doctor.
Goldcraft had been instrumental in setting up the gold shop and ensuring its success. Upgrading it would further solidify his business ventures, allowing him to innovate more in crafting and jewellery design, potentially increasing profits.
But Miracle-Doctor was different. It wasn't just about money; it was about saving the lives of the people close to him, and potentially his own. While Noah had his Miracle Pill as a failsafe for extreme situations, he couldn't deny the value of having another means of healing. The advanced skill could be the difference between life and death in emergencies.
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, the two options battling for dominance in his mind. After a few moments, his decision was clear.
"Gold can wait," he murmured, his expression firm. "I'll always find ways to make more money. But having more life-saving skills? That's priceless."
With a determined look, he activated the enhancement token.
[Skill Enhancement Token: Intermediate Miracle-Doctor Skill (Intermediate -> Advanced)]
The token dissolved in his inventory, and a familiar glow enveloped him. Information surged into his mind like a floodgate had opened.
Anatomy, herbal remedies, surgical techniques, and even advanced methods that he never heard of. Techniques that seemed miraculous, bordering on the impossible, were now part of his repertoire.
He exhaled slowly as the light faded, his mind recalibrating to accommodate the influx of knowledge. Flexing his fingers, Noah could feel the precision and newfound confidence in his hands—a doctor's hands, capable of extraordinary feats.
"So this is what an advanced miracle doctor skill feels like," he said softly, a smile playing on his lips. "I can work miracles now—literally."
...
Noah's phone buzzed as he sat in his car, the advanced AI assistant softly announcing the notification.
"Message from Jackson: Boss, we— we need your help. My brother, his arm was cut off. I could only think of you."
Noah's brow furrowed, his grip tightening on the wheel. Without wasting a second, he tapped the screen, opening the message.
"Send me your location. Now."
Jackson's response came instantly, accompanied by a pin drop on the map. Noah's foot pressed hard on the accelerator, the Lykan hypersport roaring to life as it tore through the streets. Traffic blurred past him as he navigated with precision, his eyes narrowing at the flashing speed cameras. He knew he'd racked up a few tickets already, but that was the least of his concerns.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"This better not be too late," Noah muttered under his breath.
In just ten minutes, Noah pulled up to a small warehouse on the outskirts of town. The area was crowded with Jackson's men, all looking anxious and out of place. As the Lykan screeched to a halt, they parted, their faces filled with equal parts hope and desperation.
Jackson ran out to meet him, his face pale. "Boss! Thank God you're here."
"Where is he?" Noah demanded, stepping out of the car and heading to the trunk. From inside, he grabbed a sleek black bag filled with advanced medical tools provided by the system.
The bag looked deceptively simple, but it contained equipment that far surpassed anything available to modern medicine.
Jackson led him inside, his voice trembling. "We did what you said… we put it in ice… but the bleeding, it's—"
"Stop talking and point me to him," Noah snapped, his tone sharp but not unkind.
They rushed to the corner of the warehouse where Jackson's brother lay, surrounded by worried faces. His complexion was ashen, and his shirt was soaked with blood.
An ice bucket sat nearby, containing the severed arm. The sight of it made a few of the onlookers grimace.
Noah's eyes scanned the room quickly, his mind already racing. "Clear the area. Everyone who isn't helping, get out."
The men hesitated for a moment before Jackson barked, "You heard him! Move!"
Noah knelt beside the injured man, his movements calm and deliberate. "You're going to be fine," he said, though his voice carried an undeniable authority that left no room for doubt.
He turned to Jackson. "You did well putting the arm in ice. It's given us a chance."
Jackson nodded, swallowing hard. "Will he… will he be okay?"
Noah didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he opened the bag, revealing an array of tools and vials that looked futuristic, almost alien. He cleaned the severed area of the arm with a sterilizing solution, his hands steady despite the tension in the room.
He took out a small device resembling a laser pen, its surface gleaming with a faint blue glow. Pointing it at the bleeding stump, he activated it. A soft hum filled the air as the device began sealing blood vessels, stopping the bleeding almost instantly.
"What the…?" one of the men whispered, but a sharp look from Noah silenced him.
Next, Noah took the severed arm from the ice bucket, inspecting the cut carefully. "Clean break," he muttered. "Lucky."
He aligned the arm with the stump, ensuring perfect symmetry. From the bag, he retrieved a needle-like instrument and began threading ultra-fine synthetic sutures that merged seamlessly with the tissue. With precision that defied belief, he reconnected the veins, arteries, and muscles, each moving smoothly.
As he worked, his voice was calm. "The human body is more resilient than most people realize. If you know how to guide it, it can heal almost anything."
After nearly two hours of gruelling focus, Noah made the final connection, binding the bones together with a device that emitted a faint glow before dissolving.
"Done," he announced.
The room was silent, save for the faint breathing of Jackson's brother. His colour had already begun to return, and the arm, though immobile currently, looked as if it had never been severed.
