Chapter 489 489: A Plan
Chapter 489 489: A Plan
Cole had to used the technique a few more times before he was finally able to control it enough for him to able to see specific dates or time in the past. It was not easy and the backlash after was even worse, but Cole kept at it, letting time pass by, before he was finally satisfied enough to stop utilizing the technique.
[Storm Calling Is Now Level 2!]
[Divining Devil's Eye is now Level 2!]
Cole smiled at the sight of the level up, seeing as he has only been able to raise a single level for all his techniques, it was easy to tell that it would be incredibly hard to get the subsequent levels. He would probably have to push the technique much farther than it has ever gone before, understand it's power and grow it.
Never the less he had to focus on what he now knew about Azrael. Try as he might Cole was not able to divine the future, not even by the small amount of time the technique could already allow him. To achieve. But what he was able to learn though was that the dungeon was huge, the size of mega city, and there was another level to it, or rather another floor.
Cole was not able get much information from divining the present, not even Azrael's location as that was much harder to find and Cole felt as if he was lacking in a couple of things to help him pinpoint the exact area where Azrael was. So with no idea where he was, or how to find him, Cole just learnt as much as he could learn of him, and somehow each time Azrael was aware as Cole would watch the memories of his past and Azrael would be there, sharing the same mental space with Cole.
Cole assumed that Azrael's ability to keep himself hidden, probably was what made it possible for him to know that someone was trying to find out something about him and even go as far as the past to get it. Cole's divining ability was not too bad, but that ability of Azrael was insane and overpowered. You would most definitely never be able to chase after him, track him, or divine him without him knowing.
And so the plot thickens and the game between the both of them got to a whole new level of intense. Cole could not spend his time going all over the dungeon hunting for Azrael'. He needed to find a way out, and staying here acting out the scenes of psychological action thriller movie, was not what he had in mind about exploring the 7th floor.
None the less, it was not a complete loss from using the [Divining Devil's Eye]. Cole was able to understand the landscape of the dungeon and plan out a path and a way forwards.
This entire city is considered the first area of the dungeon, and it was even a lot less dangerous than the deeper areas that had gravity storms and monsters more powerful and quicker than anything Cole has been seen or experienced. He really would have to approach this like any other dungeon dive, prepare his equipment and fight his way down to the Boss room.
But to get to that place he still needed to go through three different areas. The first was where he was with the mega giant space octopus and it's children. This part of the dungeon was a nest of sorts, and this huge creature with seemingly endless wells of energy, was it's boss. Either ways without a doubt Cole would be moving on as he doubted he would be able to do much more than leave a small dent on the creatures body.
The levels and limits he would have to reach in order to bring it down would probably also kill him. And frankly speaking Cole had little to. No control over the kinetic stat.. in fact he was not going to be messing with his stats again until he was in a safe enough place to understand them.
But back to the matter at hand. He'd be moving on, the next stage however was through some abandoned neighborhood. It was infested with zombies of those who used to live here, space zombies, and not the nice kind. These were the plant tentacles with sharp spikes and suckers for a tongue down your throat and eat your heart from the inside before leaving a parasite that would turn you into the same monster, taking the place of your heart.
The gravity there was a lot more chaotic as it was quite stable on the ground but turbulent above it. That meant there was no way he was getting past this areas unless it was on the ground. And he could not use the undergo levels as the place where the neighborhood was place is directly above the colony's sewage and that was home to even worse monsters.
Beyond that was a star rail terminal that led out of the colony to God knows where. The train came in every six hours and only stopped for six minutes before moving on. Cole had to get the timing right and make sure he gets to the rail before the next time it returns.
It was easier said than done, but ultimately what is required to keep moving forwards. Cole got up and brought up his stat page, it was time to get moving.
