The WealthTap System: Rising from Rags to Riches

Chapter 95 One Of Worst Fails

  // BEEP! WINNER… TEAM-2! //

"HAH?!"

"No way!"

"Is it bugged?!"

"OI, WORKER!" the beefy guy who had betted a lot of money on Taylor was shocked seeing the result as he grabbed the worker by his collar, "HOW THE HELL DID TEAM 2 WIN?!"

"S-Sir… please have some patience, we are trying to find the cause of it…" the wimpy worker murmured back weekly, resisting under the beefy guy's strong grip.

"Tsk, hurry up." the beefy guy threw the meek worker away and moved a bit back.

"Y-Yes!" the worker quickly scurried away and pressed the camera option in his laptop, opening it up.

His laptop loaded open slowly and the cameras that were installed all around the arena's latest recording were played, all the audience leaning forward on the laptop to check out how the hell did the machine glitch.

Never before has the machine ever had such a glitch, why did it happen only now?

In the recording, everything played in slow motion as suddenly, Cathy had stopped shooting and quickly turned the water gun ahead, aiming at Taylor's target.

While the remaining water was fending off the Alia's attack which still didn't stop even for a second.

Reinforced by mana, Alia's water stream easily tore through remaining water that was in air due to physics, while Cathy's stream also launched at Taylor's target.

No matter how anyone looked at it, even if by a small margin, Taylor would still easily win because his water stream was running and still in air while Cathy's was just launched.

"It is obvious that your machine is bugged." the beefy guy scoffed even though the recording still wasn't finished…

"Sir, one minute please." wimpy worker raised his hand and silenced the beefy guy, this time there was not an ounce of hesitation in his voice as he was fully focused on the laptop recording.

"Hah, whatever." not in mood to mess with the focused worker, beefy guy scoffed and continued to watch as Alia's water stream hit Chris's target.

He was just about to cheer at that, however he was left shell-shocked as instead of tearing through the target, the water was repelled away by some other force!

Yes, the mysterious force known as mana didn't last too long as the barrier, however, till Alia's water stream tried to wash away the mana and break the target… Cathy's water stream reached the target first…

The mana enhanced stream directly tore through the already battered target… and back to the present… the beep renounced, announcing Team-2 as victors.

"That… you used mana as the shield to block water, huh? Clever bastard." Taylor clicked his tongue, staring at Chris who was grinning ear to ear as his plan worked.

"Well yeah, since we had already established we will use mana at the end moment, why not go all out?" Chris smiled.

"All out, huh? That was your all out?" Taylor asked suddenly, he didn't even bother to blame Chris for cheating or complain he would lose 500k dollars.

Chris was tongue tied at the question, he wanted to say, 'No, I have plenty left up my sleeves.' however he couldn't. He had to keep it a secret.

"Maybe, who knows." Chris smiled and decided to act mysterious, as annoying as it was for the other person, it also saved his face from being called a liar or getting his truth found out. Both of which were quite unfortunate outcomes.

"Ha~ good game." Cathy, who was in full focus for the whole game, jumped out of the car and took Chris's shoulders to support herself as she sighed in relief.

"Good game to you too. Your mana channeling was quite decent." Taylor praised politely.

"Thank you, yours is quite scary too." she gave a polite smile back while Alia just stood beside her man who had already ended up liking some other bimbo, even though she herself was with him.

If it wasn't that he was her first, and the one she unfortunately loved dearly, she would have left him already.

"Babe, we are getting late for the inner games." Alia intercepted subtly while glaring at Cathy.

However, Taylor didn't seem to have liked this intrusion as he gave a cold "I know." and ignored Alia again.

"Well, it seems you guys are getting late. We also need to be somewhere, so we will take our leave too." Chris didn't miss Alia's words and followed up with a farewell that was quite hard for Taylor to deny, no matter how much he wanted to be with Cathy more.

"Indeed. Let's catch up later, and you should check out the inner area of X-Fun too sometime, it is much different than… this." Taylor shrugged.

"Inner area? The one that can be accessed by the golden card?" Chris confirmed as he remembered Taylor mentioning something like this before.

"Yes. You can access it now." Taylor nodded and continued, "Anyways, well played you all. I will get you 500 thousand dollars worth of credit here as promised."

"Yeah, alright. By the way, rather than adding here, can't you add them directly to my bank account?"

"Why not here?"

"I just think that we wouldn't be coming to this place as much as you do."

"Ohh? You will be surprised how much you would like to come here after seeing the inner area, hah! But oh well, take it in the bank account then."

"Yes, well played. I had fun."

"Haha, me too. Send me your bank account number, I will transfer the amount. Bye then." Taylor waved and left promptly, not bothering to linger more than required.

*I guess getting 500k makes my hard work worth it." Cathy murmured with a small smile on her face. Coming from the boonies, now they were standing in a big gaming lounge, betting against a suave rich young master… time sure flies.

"It does indeed."

"It only became possible because of you, thank you for everything, little brother." Cathy smiled brightly and ruffled Chris's hairs, something she used to do in past to hide her embarrassment and happiness.

"Tsk, how many times have I told you that you are the younger one? And stop messing up my hair!" Chris smiled back and berated.

"I just made them better, hah. You have no sense of style." Cathy scoffed back, and while they were bickering, Max and Cassie came towards them, Cassie directly hugging Chris who patted her head lovingly.

"Brother, that was so great! And so close! I was so scared we would lose!"

"Hah, I had everything in control." Chris smiled and joked narcissistically.

"Hehe, yep. Me and Brother Maxxie got eliminated so quickly though, we were useless… we only dragged you down." Cassie lowered her head.

"Haha, that's not true. You weakened the white car a lot so we took it out in a shot. Don't worry, you did great." Chris reassured her.

"Now, let's go see how good Cathy is, haha." Chris laughed and placed his hands around Cathy's shoulders.

"Hmm? We are finally going to the audition?" Cathy asked with a tinge of excitement and hope… alas, they were crushed with just a word…

"Nope." Chris smiled, "What's the rush? There is still one hour remaining."

"Sigh, what do you want to do now? Check out the inner area?"

"As much as I am tempted to, we will do it some other time when we have more time and money, haha."

"Tsk." but unexpectedly, hearing Chris's words, Max clicked his tongue as if he was very excited to check out the inner zone.

"Huh? What's with that reaction… don't tell me… you found a chick going in there?" Chris chuckled.

"Uhh yeah, that too, but also I wanted to earn some quick bucks. I heard one of the best casinos in the city is there."

"No no no, I ain't letting you gamble bro, I know your luck in that." Chris gave him a side eye.

"N-No! It has changed! I can feel it in my veins!"

"Ohh really? That's what you said when we went to the strip cas-"

"SHUSH! YOU WIN! We aren't going in there, happy!? Just shut up!" Max hurriedly covered Chris's mouth.

"Oh my, did I just hear 'strip'? Maxxie, did you partake in strip gambling?" Cathy whistled and teased Max.

"Yep! It was so fun, he had made so many bets and-"

"SHUT UP, BRO!" Max felt like crying as Chris was nonchalantly telling one of the worst fails in Max's history.

"Hahahaha."
