The Villain's Little Cat

Chapter 47

47 Resting

Jake was silent.

He knew that what Kyle said was correct. When these animals had started to mutate and caused drastic changes in the ecosystem, he had already had an inkling that this situation would definitely last for weeks.

Or worse, months or even years.

It would be impossible for them to solve the problem of these mutated animals that turned giants so quickly.

During this time, how were they supposed to find food?

Farming?

It was estimated that many farmers had died because they were living in the outskirt and their field were destroyed because of these rats, snakes, and many other animals turned bigger overnight.

With normal weapons, it will be hard to defeat them.

“Fine, but we’re not eating them now.” Jake definitely will find it repulsive to eat the meat of mutated animals. At least, there were still more than enough normal food that they could eat for the time being.

.....

“Emergency food.”

“Yes, they’re all emergency food.” Kyle nodded and saw that Kate had already finished moving everything into her space. Thinking about the sizes of these giant rats, he silently wondered how much space were left in Kate’s space.

“Little Kitty.”

“Meow?”

“Do you still have a lot of space?”

“Meow.”

Seeing that they didn’t seem to understand, Kate simply moved towards Kyle. He promptly picked her up. “My clothes are dirty, so I can’t carry you like usual.”

Kate didn’t care and tapped Kyle’s arm once.

Kyle smiled. “So there are still a lot of space left, huh? I have the feeling that your space is very big.”

“Do you want to know about the other people who have space ability? I could gather some of their information by asking around.” Jake was curious.

“Dylan will handle it.”

“Ok.”

The information that was spread to the netizen was definitely extremely limited. It would be impossible for the higher ups to truly tell the truth to these people about the limits of their ability until the researchers were satisfied.

Well, anyway, there was some information that was withheld.

Even if Jake was good at digging information, Dylan was better because he could directly find them through the internet.

“Anyway, it’s good that the internet is still online. If we don’t have internet at all, it’ll be impossible for us to watch the news and knew the development.”

“There are internet satellite.” Kyle was calm. Internet satellite had already developed for so many years and a lot of people were using it.

“Uh, I flunked my technology related class.”

“It’s internet that you can access by having access to the satellite. The information is transmitted in the air and no longer through undersea cables,” Kyle explained.

“Uh, wait, how in the world that satellite work?”

Kyle chose to explain in simplified manner to Jake because he understood his friend’s brain was a bit... underdeveloped in some matters.

In short, internet satellite was using satellite as medium. However, the satellite that was used could only last for a few years (depending on the manufacturer), so they were equipped with self-destruct mechanism when they couldn’t be used anymore to avoid littering the sky. As for battery, they were using solar panel, so it would be able to work as long as the sun was still shining.

...

A/N: Real History’s Corner

Internet Satellite had been developed rapidly by 2020. This concept was introduced because of the limitation of internet cables due to the terrains. There were several companies who worked on the project but if you want the detail, you need to search in the internet.

Note: By the time this is written (2022), internet satellite had been used by some people in certain countries, but many still relied on the normal undersea cables. Also, I set the story in the future alternate world, so some technology that was actually still in development can appear here as already being used. :p
