Chapter 99 - The First Genius Daughter Returns
Chapter 99: The First Genius Daughter Returns
“If your sister were as stupid as you, she would have died so many times at the Flying Frost Pavilion by now. I’ve told you many times that I don’t care how much pride you have, but you must know when to hold it in and how to have a longer-term plan. Everyone needs to hide behind a mask so that they can catch their enemies off guard and kill them with one shot. You? You are like an idiot who just stands in the open waiting to die.”
Xu Jiayi scolded her for a long time, and Feng Xiuyu continued howling and crying because she felt everyone was unfair to her.
Feng Xiuyu had indeed stepped on a landmine, but she was still Xu Jiayi’s daughter, after all. When she saw how Feng Xiuyu was crying so miserably, she softened.
“Take this time to rest quietly and straighten out your thoughts,” she said. “You have to remember that now, you’re as good as useless. Feng Tianlan can kill you anytime.”
“Mother!” Feng Xiuyu cried as she hugged Xu Jiayi.
Xu Jiayi gently stroked her head and told her seriously, “You must remember, don’t be rash. No matter how much you hate her, you have to control your temper. Otherwise, the one who’s going to die isn’t her, but you.”
Feng Xiuyu didn’t respond, so Xu Jiayi asked in a firmer voice, “Can you bear that in mind?”
“I will,” Feng Xiuyu answered in a hoarse voice through clenched teeth.
Feng Tianlan!
There was a long way to go—nobody knew who was going to have the last laugh. I will come up with a new revenge plan, Feng Xiuyu thought to herself. I am going to make sure that Feng Tianlan is paid back a thousand times over.
On the other side of the house, Feng Tianlan had a good sleep. Chuling asked her about the shout she’d heard the night before: “Miss, I heard some noise last night. Did someone come?”
Feng Tianlan nodded. Chuling had gone to check out what was happening on Feng Xiuyu’s side of the residence first thing in the morning then reported everything she had heard to Feng Tianlan.
“I’ll have some peace and quiet, for now, then,” Feng Tianlan said calmly. She was not surprised that Xu Jiayi and Feng Xiuyu were not allowed out of the house.
As for whether they would hate her even more now, it didn’t matter. Just hating her wouldn’t harm her physically, anyway.
Chuling also told her what she had heard when she’d gone out earlier: “Second Miss is coming back.”
“Feng Xiupei?” Feng Tianlan raised an eyebrow. Feng Xiuyu had mentioned that before she’d been sent back to her room. It turned out it was true, after all.
Ten years ago, a had circulated legend that the First and Second Misses of the Feng family, who were born only one day apart, would become Spiritual Kings, the hope of South Winds Nation.
But in the end, one legend became two. The elder sister became a hopeless laughingstock, while the younger one developed into a powerful, respectable fighter.
Five years later, the Second Miss was only ten, but she’d been accepted by the top tier sect, the Flying Frost Pavilion, to be their novice disciple without going through any qualifying tests. Five years had passed since then, and there was no news of what happened to her, so Feng Xiuyu had become famous as the next genius of the family.
Now, the first genius of the family was coming back. Naturally, everyone started talking about her again; she was the hottest topic in the whole of South Winds Nation. The first female genius of South Winds Nation, Feng Xiupei, was now returning from the Flying Frost Pavilion.
The news spread like wildfire, and South Peace City was ablaze with everything they’d ever heard about her.
“Legend has it that the Second Miss met someone powerful when she was ten, so she didn’t need to pass any qualifying tests to get into the top tier sect, Flying Frost Pavilion.”
“Legend has it that the Second Miss is really beautiful, gentle, kind and generous! She’s practically perfect! Whoever marries her will be the envy of all men!”
“There’s another legend about the Feng family’s Second Miss—apparently she has the destiny of a phoenix and will fly higher and higher.”
“Destiny of a phoenix? So, she’ll become the next empress?”
“No, a fortune teller said that she’s a phoenix who will fly out of Guiyuan Continent.”
Gentle, kind, and generous? Ha! What irony.
