Chapter 100 - Feng Tianlan and Feng Xiupei
Chapter 100: Feng Tianlan and Feng Xiupei
Feng Tianlan returned from the Luo residence to find a huge crowd at Feng Manor’s door, blocking the way and talking among themselves excitedly.
When she heard what they were talking about, Feng Tianlan raised an eyebrow. Feng Xiupei was back?
The Feng family’s Second Miss, Feng Xiupei was born in the same year and month as Feng Tianlan, just a few hours later.
Feng Xiupei was a prodigy, who had been gathering spirits since she was six. She’d become a Spiritualist at ten and was supposed to be the first female genius of South Winds Nation. But, after leaving for the Flying Frost Pavilion at the age of ten, people had stopped talking about her and started talking about Feng Xiuyu instead.
Feng Xiupei was currently in the middle of the adoring crowd, but she spotted Feng Tianlan from afar and started walking toward her with a big smile. She pulled on Feng Tianlan’s arm and started speaking in an intimate tone, “Oh, my sister is back! I was just wondering when you would come out to welcome me!”
“Sis, why are you talking to her?” Feng Xiuyu came up and pulled the two apart, glaring at Feng Tianlan. “She destroyed my cinnabar field, so you’re supposed to help me teach her a lesson and destroy her cinnabar field, too.”
“Don’t simply blame your eldest sister. I’ve checked with Mother already; it’s not Eldest Sister’s fault,” Feng Xiupei gently chided Feng Xiuyu as objectively as possible.
“Sis...” Feng Xiuyu wanted to say more, but Feng Xiupei threw her a knowing glance, so she could only ‘humph’ and let go of Feng Xiupei’s hand. She quickly went to clutch Si Rong’s hand and looked triumphantly at Feng Tianlan, trying to show off to her.
Feng Xiupei tried to take Feng Tianlan’s hand again, but Feng Tianlan dodged her hand and smiled awkwardly. “Sis, I’m not here to steal your limelight, so don’t be angry and don’t hate me. You’re the only older sister I have.”
“Hypocrite,” Feng Tianlan spat out only one word as she threw her a dirty look and walked past her.
Feng Xiupei’s hypocrisy reminded her of Shen Yunya, a woman who could bury someone alive with mere words. Meanwhile, not only did she remain unhurt, she even bettered her reputation.
“No wonder nobody likes Feng Tianlan. She doesn’t even welcome her own sister warmly and says mean things.”
“Second Miss is so nice, standing up for her, but then gets scolded in return.”
“I feel so bad for Second Miss for having a sister with a nasty temperament.”
“Why does she even bother to be nice to such a sister? And what did she mean by ‘stealing the limelight’? Today’s star is Second Miss. There’s nothing to steal!”
Seeing that Feng Xiupei was trying her best to reconcile the sisters, but Feng Tianlan still treated her coldly and even called her a hypocrite, the crowd’s murmurs grew louder. The people began to despise Feng Tianlan.
Feng Xiupei pursed her lips and said to the crowd, “Everyone, please don’t talk about my sister like that. Eldest Sister is not that kind of person. She’s just...it’s all my fault, so please don’t talk about her like that anymore, it will make her feel bad, too.”
These words made the crowd despise Feng Tianlan even more. They put Feng Xiupei on a pedestal as if Feng Xiupei were a fairy from the heavens, and Feng Tianlan was mere dust. Feng Tianlan didn’t feel anything. These were just random onlookers, and nothing they said would agitate her.
“Sis,” Feng Xiupei called out when she saw Feng Tianlan leaving. She took out a brocade box from her storage ring and opened it to reveal a pill. She earnestly said, “I heard that you’re able to train up now, so I brought you a Marrow Cleansing Pill from my Master. That way, you’ll be able to become powerful again and be in the spotlight.”
If one looked closely at Feng Xiupei, one would have noticed a spark of evil intent in her eyes.
