Chapter 744: A Clash Between the Forlorn Hope and Absolute Disaster
Chapter 744: A Clash Between the Forlorn Hope and Absolute Disaster
Eclipse smiled brightly while holding a purple sun umbrella. In front of her stood a boy of similar height.
“Aren’t you curious why I’m here?”
"Interesting. It's amazing too. Eclipse can't get out of here...”
As she mumbled and cutely stamped her feet, a chill appeared on the boy Katshi's face.
“Why am I here? You should know.”
“Hmm?”
Katshi lightly took a step forward, tilting his head and looking at her cutely.
Crack!!
At the same time, the air distorted and a black spear flew toward Eclipse.
Clank!!Eclipse reflexively raised her umbrella to block the spear before her eyes then filled up with tears.
“Did you just hit Eclipse?”
The black spear she deflected reached the fragments of the destroyed world, distorting the surrounding space as if it was breaking down into tiny particles.
“I shouldn’t have trusted the fucking Abyss in the first place, but my creator wanted me to fucking cooperate with you...”
As Katshi muttered, the space behind him distorted and shattered into pieces. Soon, more floating black spears poured out from it.
“Let me teach you a fucking lesson here.”
Thud!
Katshi made the first real move. He surged toward Eclipse, much stronger than when he fought Davey.
"Aha! You were in this place with Eclipse before!”
Katshi’s existence was never stable on Earth in the first place as his full power was sealed here.
Thud!
Thud!!
Eclipse jumped around, dodging his near-catastrophic attacks while using her umbrella to deflect the ones she couldn’t avoid.
“Hmph… Eclipse is going to punish you!”
Pow!
As she slapped the air with her hand, Katshi’s body went flying.
Squelch!
But Katshi still got the upper hand. Eclipse looked down blankly at the black spear stuck in her stomach.
“Hm… This hurts Eclipse…” she muttered briefly. She then grabbed the spear without saying a word.
Crackle!
At the same time, black flames erupted, and the black spear disappeared instantly as if it had evaporated.
“Eclipse... is bleeding… Eclipse was told not to get hurt… Eclipse just wanted to play...” she muttered briefly, looking at Katshi with an expressionless face.
In the still silence, Katshi glared at Eclipse. But she was quicker.
Swish!!
An enormous translucent black tail snatched him up.
Bang!!
She then slammed him to the ground without the slightest hesitation.
Bang!! Bang! Bang!!
Eclipse showered Katshi nonstop with attacks. He took every hit, not being able to fight back.
“Eclipse is!! Eclipse is going to punish you!!!”
- Kaaa!!
Her huge roar echoed in the air and her eyes split vertically like those of a reptile. At the same time, she took on a completely different atmosphere than before, blowing out something like steam from her mouth.
Eclipse made a deep, rumbling growl. As she gritted her teeth, scales sprouted on her hands, and her fingernails became sharp.
"You look like a monster. I cannot believe that someone who lost the Absolute Gem possesses this level of power… Have you gotten stronger than before?"
"Eclipse is…”
Katshi transformed into a gigantic monster in response to baleful energy she let out.
Bang!!!
"Going to punish you.”
Then half of her body dissipated like smoke, and a huge black dragon towered above her. The dragon soon rushed toward Katshi, who reflexively formed horns in an attempt to deflect the dragon.
Crack!
The gigantic dragon figure—Eclipse's main body, presumably—bit into his body, violently shook it, and tossed him away.
Katshi furrowed his brow at the sudden attack. He reflexively balanced his body to counterattack. But, before he was able to get to her, he saw her eyes coming after him. He flinched and froze as if he was petrified.
Eclipse sent him flying. She then, in her human-form incarnation, caught up with him at a speed that was impossible for him to react to. She wasn’t taking on the form of an enormous dragon, but back to the small body she initially had before parts of her body turned into smoke and disappeared.
She gently pointed the tip of the umbrella in her hand, which had closed up at one point. Even though it wasn't as fast as the first time, Katshi couldn't avoid it.
He simply couldn’t.
Squelch!
The disastrous fight between the two, that started with one of them trolling and due to another person's unintentional interference, turned into a storm.

The mutant now no longer resembled Chao Huang or Davey O’Rowane. He had just turned into a grotesque blob. He tried with all his might to escape Davey’s grasp, but every time he manifested his power, Davey’s Power of Taboo reflexively permeated into him and suppressed him.
Davey never knew something like this was possible. At a distance like this, it seemed impossible for the mutant to make stealthy moves regardless of how much it distorted reality. Now that Davey knew what it was capable of, he imagined he would be using it to do the same in the future.
"Hey, you’re pretty useful, aren’t ya?”
Davey knew the mutant would be able to track down the Death Lord that was leaving its traces out in the open, as it even found a Malicious Spirit that was in hiding.
But no matter how good the Power of Taboo was, it still had its limits on effective distance. Davey also knew that the mutant in his hands had extremely good detection capabilities.
Davey already had a lot of the materials of the Artifact, the power of the Death Lord. Rinne had absorbed the power of the Death Lord, and he had managed to acquire a lot of its fragments.
‘So I’ll inject the wave and see when it reacts,’ Davey thought.
The mutants the Illuminati made were running rampant all over the world, but it didn't take much time to find them. It surely seemed like the Illuminati was running the world, but Davey didn’t care about what happened after the Red Void appeared on the continent of Peslisa or what they wanted. All he cared about was the fact that they came together with the Malicious Spirits and interrupted his peaceful rest.
"I’ll beat you up until you’re about to die, and then hit you one more time to finish you.”
Davey then lightly waved his hand at the fallen mutant. Its solid head flew into the air, spraying blood.
‘It’s impossible to save mutants without elixirs. If they get some before they change, they can be saved right away, but after they change, they’re not coming back unless a miracle happens.’
In other words, mutants were like parasites on a human corpse. They would eventually take over and become the owner of the corpse. Davey knew that holy magic couldn’t solve everything.
Frankly speaking, Davey found it difficult to consider the mutant he just killed as a human being. But his uncle seemed different, a bit unusual in a way. Even though he became a monster, a part of his reasoning remained. In other words, the parasitic mutant was not able to completely take over his uncle. Davey knew this wasn’t a coincidence.
"I won’t forget that I owe you one, so don’t worry,” Davey muttered.
God's favoritism sounded like a funny idea, but it seemed pretty clear that Neltarid had protected Davey to this extent. Now that all those mutants had stopped what they were doing and attacked Asgard under the orders of the Illuminati, it was safe to say their main base was virtually empty.
"There’s an unusual amount of them here for some reason.”
But then…
- Creak!!
The mutant in his hand struggled violently, trying to run away to somewhere. The hypnosis that Davey and Verdandi applied started working again.
"Hm, what are you trying to do this time?”
Davey had already taken care of more than half of the Illuminati leaders who had established themselves in China. They knew very well that it was over for them the moment he discovered their location. So, knowing what was coming, they had no choice but to run away.
Normally, when Davey was occupied dealing with the mutants, some of the members would stay and hold him back while the others would run away. Their plan was basically a decoy guerrilla tactic.
"But I won’t let you have it your way.”
Davey knew it was definitely wise for them to do so, but it was also annoying for him. So he figured that he wouldn’t even give them a chance to try anything here. As he had already taken out a lot of mutants, most of the surrounding mutants were dying after taking hits of light crosses.
"They… they’re all people!"
At that time, someone bravely shouted at him. It was the Awakened man he had just rescued.
"I know."
The man trembled at his calm answer.
"Those people...can they be turned back?"
"Do you know who I am?"
"I don’t think there would be anyone on this earth who doesn’t know you by now.”
The man was holding his chest and breathing heavily, as if his heart was still pounding violently.
"I can’t save them. They’re already basically corpses with parasites feeding on them.”
"That can’t be..."
"So if you want to save more people, take down the monsters as soon as you see them."
Just as Davey expected from mass-produced monsters, they were weaker than before. He knew it meant that they were in a hurry now.
Davey took out an amulet and cast a summoning sorcery. He knew that Earth went best with sorcery. He materialized the beings that were probably on vacation or enjoying themselves.
"Come on out, you psychos."
Four divine beasts along with huge letters slowly appeared around him. They were going to take his place while he went elsewhere. He knew they would be able to easily deal with the weakened mutants.
The four divine beasts Davey summoned—Fire Chicken, Rumble, Whitey, and Black Turtoise—spread out across the city and began to cause trouble, as if to protest that they were only now given the chance to come out and showcase their abilities.
They were literally causing chaos.
But they only lashed out their ferocity exclusively toward the mutants. They frantically took down the mutants that had survived Davey’s attacks.
Although Yellow Dragon was more extreme, divine beasts were fundamentally very wary of and detested irrational beings like mutants. Therefore, everything they were doing was only natural.
As the four continued their rampage, Davey summoned another divine beast. Even though it might be inferior in combat, in terms of efficiency, it was a high-level divine beast comparable to the Mythical Beast King. He summoned the core divine beast, Yellow Dragon. But he didn’t stop there.
“Where do you think you’re going? Trying to run away?”
He then pushed his hand further into Pocket Plane and grabbed a deck of cards from a card album.
"Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon.”
Two cute children appeared in translucent forms and ran toward him. They disappeared once they passed through Davey, then blue-red light gathered and transformed into Super Ribbon. But Super Ribbon wasn’t what Davey was going for. He summoned her to assist him in the situation he was going to create using the Heavenly Demon’s Card Album he took out.
He floated the cards in the air and reached out for the card with a familiar symbol on it. The Heavenly Demon was a truly unique hero.
[Do you think I’m amazing? I think so too. I may be a Special One that you speak of, but I prefer being a spiritualist or card magician who deals with the power of the soul. I don't know when you’ll need it, but if you want to use it, you can use the gift I left for you.]
"Card…"
Just as Davey was about to talk, he was ambushed.
Swoosh!!
Knights in black with unique armor surrounded him in an instant and attacked from all directions. There were ten of them, each wielding an Aura blade and at least Death Knight-level or higher Black Knights.
Davey figured they thought they couldn't stop him with normal methods and were resorting to desperate measures. He then noticed others approaching with dangerously unstable magic stones all over their bodies.
“I’m putting my life on the line!” a man in black robes shouted as he jumped out from among the Black Knights, throwing himself forward.
Bang!!
A massive explosion occurred, completely dissipating the mana in the area. Because of this, Davey lost a large amount of mana, just like how water works when trying to maintain equilibrium.
He figured they knew that he relied on mana and were extremely determined to deplete it. In fact, other than the mana fission he used before, it was the most efficient way to achieve a mana EMP effect.
Davey knew this method was created by the Death Lord. Originally, it wasn't a method that was worth self-destruction, but it seemed they had decided it was too difficult to approach him to use magic. It surely was an extreme measure, which showed their desperation. He could tell they knew that if they couldn't stop him here, it would be over for them.
Of course it would be.
“Alright, do whatever you guys want to do.”
Davey instantly guarded himself against the aftermath of the explosion and deflected all the self-destructive attacks against him.
“Do you think I’ll run out of mana first, or you all go down first?”
‘You should’ve known who you’re dealing with,’ Davey thought.
As he continued blocking the attacks, he returned all the cards he had activated earlier to the deck. Then, he started shuffling leisurely while levitating Super Ribbon as a telekinetic blade in the air.
“Is this your first time fighting a card magician?”
Bang!!!
Bang!!!
“Allahu Akbar!!”
“Huh, there’s a strange guy as well.”
There were some that attacked with physical explosions instead of mana explosions. The Black Knights took cover to protect themselves from the self-destructing crazies that Davey was trying to take down.
“Open Tarot card.”
Then Davey scattered the cards he shuffled quickly in the air, where they aligned themselves. He then picked one and uttered a command.
“Tarot card open in the right position.”
[Berserk Soul]
Davey smiled as he looked at the card. As a wise man once said, trusting cards made second dealing possible.
