Chapter 13: The Drawing of Characters
Chapter 13
After examining Old Master Si, the doctor walked over to Old Master Si's family and said, "Old Master doesn't have any issues. If you are still worried, he can stay in the hospital for observation for a few more days." The doctor was also very puzzled by this result. Old Master Si's condition looked very bad, but after a series of examinations, no issues were found. This was the first time he had encountered such a situation.
"Really no issues?"
"He was clearly foaming at the mouth and convulsing all over earlier. How could there be no issues?"
"Doctor, please examine Old Master again more carefully." Si's family did not believe the results.
"Alright, I will examine Old Master again for you." The doctor walked back to Old Master Si's side and started carefully examining him again.
Ling Yue withdrew her gaze and turned to Si Yuejing, saying softly, "Come out with me for a bit, I have something to tell you."
Only then did Si Yuejing remember that he had brought Ling Yue here too. He nodded and followed Ling Yue out of the ward.
When they reached the end of the corridor, Ling Yue stopped.
"What do you want to tell me?" Si Yuejing's mind was full of Old Master Si right now. He wanted to end the conversation quickly and go back to see Old Master Si.
"Did your grandfather buy a jade turtle a few days ago?" Ling Yue asked directly without beating around the bush.
"How did you know?" Si Yuejing was surprised. His grandfather had shown him the jade turtle when he bought it and brought it home.
"The problem lies with that jade turtle. It was dug out from a tomb not long ago. It's tainted with evil Yin energy. Prolonged contact with it will allow the evil Yin energy to invade the body. The reason your grandfather is like this is because the evil Yin energy has entered his body," Ling Yue looked at Si Yuejing. She would help him if he believed her. If he didn't believe her, she would leave.
"Then what should we do?" Si Yuejing had an incredulous expression on his face. However, Ling Yue had no reason to lie to him since they had just met today. Plus he hadn't told her about the jade turtle before.
Ling Yue smiled lightly. Her captivating peach blossom eyes were moving, "Accompany me to buy some things." Si Yuejing was willing to believe her, so she was also willing to help him.
"Then let me go inform my family in the ward." Si Yuejing hastily moved his gaze away. He quickly walked towards the ward. At this time, if one looked closely, one could see that the tips of his ears were tinged with a light shade of red.
"He really is innocent." The smile at the corners of Ling Yue's mouth deepened a little. She walked to the ward door to wait for Si Yuejing. In her previous life, she was an empress who held power over the world. Naturally, there was no lack of handsome men around her. However, she had never favored anyone. She always thought she was heartless until she met him and found out that she too could fall for someone and be like those young girls, longing to see the man of her heart and wanting to be with him every moment.
Thinking of that man, a flash of complicated emotion crossed Ling Yue's eyes.
"Let's go." Hearing Si Yuejing's voice, Ling Yue came back to her senses and nodded lightly.
Following Ling Yue's directions, Si Yuejing drove to the antique market street. Although he was very curious why Ling Yue had come here, he did not ask further questions. Since he had chosen to believe Ling Yue, he would not doubt her.
Ling Yue walked into the antique market and went into a shop that sold yellow paper. The last time she wandered around the antique market, she had gone into this shop when she passed by it. This shop mainly sold yellow paper, cinnabar, and some ceremonial weapons that had been consecrated by spiritual masters. However, those ceremonial weapons were just too shoddy to provide any real protection.
Si Yuejing took a look at the things in the store, puzzled, and looked towards Ling Yue.
Ling Yue smiled lightly. She walked to the counter and said to the owner who was organizing the counter, "Boss, give me a stack of yellow paper and a cinnabar brush."
The owner stopped what he was doing, glanced at Ling Yue and Si Yuejing, took out a stack of yellow paper, grabbed a pack of cinnabar and brushes from the drawer, put them in a plastic bag and handed it to Ling Yue, "That will be one hundred and five yuan total. Our ceremonial weapons are very spiritual, would you two like to take a look?" Many people who came to his store were here for the ceremonial weapons.
"No need, just these, thanks." Just as Ling Yue was about to take out money, Si Yuejing had already paid first.
Ling Yue stopped her motion of taking out money. She took the things on the counter, "Let's go."
After leaving the shop, Ling Yue walked towards a nearby teahouse.
Si Yuejing quickened his steps to catch up.
"Would you like some tea? Please come in," The teahouse service staff smiled and welcomed Ling Yue and Si Yuejing.
"Do you have private rooms?" Ling Yue asked the service staff. She needed to draw talismans and required a private space.
"Yes, yes, please come this way." The teahouse service staff smiled and led the way.
The environment of this teahouse was very elegant and antique, exuding a faint scent of tea that gave people a very comfortable feeling.
Led to a private room on the second floor, Ling Yue ordered a pot of tea. After the tea was served and the service staff left, she said, "Close the door."
"Okay." Si Yuejing went forward to close the door.
Ling Yue took out the things she just bought, poured some cinnabar into the cup, added some water and mixed it well, dipped the brush into the cinnabar water, and quickly drew a talisman on the yellow paper.
From start to finish, Si Yuejing was completely confused until Ling Yue handed him the finished talisman. He couldn't help but ask about his puzzlement, "What's this used for?" He had also seen similar talismans in the shop selling yellow paper earlier. He didn't understand why Ling Yue had gone through so much trouble to draw it herself instead of just buying it directly.
"This is a Purification Talisman. When you get to the ward, place it on your grandfather's forehead, then shout out a Ling word and it will be done. Also, it's best to dispose of that jade turtle quickly." Ling Yue packed up the things and walked out carrying the bag.
Si Yuejing carefully folded the talisman and put it in his pocket. He chased after Ling Yue, "Let me drive you home."
"No need, I still have things to buy. You go to the hospital." Ling Yue knew Si Yuejing was very worried about Old Master Si.
"Do you have a phone then? Can you give me your number?" Si Yuejing didn't want to lose contact with Ling Yue.
Ling Yue shook her head. "I don't have one." She had originally planned to get a mobile phone from the telecom store when she went to apply for broadband. She didn't expect to get pushed into the water when she went to watch the excitement.
"Then remember my phone number. Wait, let me write it down for you." Si Yuejing ran to the counter to borrow paper and pen to write down his phone number for Ling Yue.
Ling Yue accepted it and put it in her bag.
Si Yuejing drove back to the hospital and quickly walked towards the ward.
In the ward, Si's family all wore worried expressions on their faces. Just now, the doctor's examination showed the same results as before - nothing could be found.
Si Yuejing pushed open the ward door and walked in, his gaze falling on Old Master Si lying in bed. "Has grandfather woken up?"
"No, the doctor has examined him already. He said there's nothing wrong with grandfather," said Si Qianqian with red swollen eyes. Grandfather always doted on her the most usually. Seeing grandfather like this made her very distressed.
