Chapter 33: Sleep Together? Part 2
Chapter 33: Sleep Together? Part 2
“Thank you for riding on bus 318. See you again.” The driver smiled twice, with a meaningful tone.
When Chen Shu and Ye Sui stepped out of the car, those ghosts rushed down as they finally got home. How could they not be happy?
The terminal was a cemetery. Looking far away, there were tombstones everywhere.
Those ghosts were like youngsters. One by one, they jumped joyfully on the tomb and soon disappeared in front of Ye Sui.
Among them, there was one ghost whose behavior was especially strange compared to others. He sauntered to his tombstone, appearing very reluctant. It was the one who was just crying on the bus—that middle-aged ghost.
Ye Sui didn’t continue to watch. She finally broke away from those bus ghosts and felt relaxed. As soon as she turned her head, she saw Chen Shu looking around.
His eyes were full of doubts. Curiously inspecting the cemetery nearby, he asked Ye Sui, “Is this your home?”
Pooh! His words carried no harm.
Ye Sui pulled Chen Shu over and stood beside the bus stop. She was very embarrassed to explain to Chen Shu.”We got on the wrong bus.”
Chen Shu finally put away his curious eyes. Ye Sui was the first to see the expression of Chen Shu upon seeing the home of his wife in the cemetery. It was quite impactful to Chen Shu.
The autumn wind was a bit cold, especially in the wilderness. It gave chills to the travelers.
On one side of the telephone pole, a missing person poster was stuck and blown a few times by the wind. Ye Sui turned to look at it; the notice was a witness of a traffic accident.
A couple was killed here, but the murderer could not be found. The time of the crime was more than a week ago.
Ye Sui almost wanted to put her eyelids on the poster. Why was she so curious? Now, after seeing this, why did she feel scared?
“Chen Shu, don’t you think the wind is a bit too strong.” Ye Sui quickly moved a step toward his side and held his arm.
Ye Sui felt the wind stinging at this time as if it was too severe to bear.
Chen Shu, lying through his teeth, said, “Yeah, it is.”
Ye Sui smiled twice, ‘thank you for your cooperation.’
Ye Sui and Chen Shu had good luck as a taxi came on the road where few vehicles ever passed. Ye Sui’s face immediately brightened, and she desperately waved in the direction of the cab.
The car slowly stopped in front of them, and they stepped into the car.
“Finally got a ride.” As soon as Ye Sui got in, she sighed with emotion. Soon, she covered her stomach.
Ye Sui said with bitterness, “I’m so hungry.”
Chen Shu comforted Ye Sui, “We can eat later.”
The next second, the taxi driver hit the brakes and stopped at the side of the road. Before Ye Sui and Chen Shu could react, the driver suddenly began to beg for mercy.
“Please spare me; I’m old, and I don’t have any meat on me. I don’t taste good either. If you don’t mind me, I will pay respects to your memorial tablets when I return home.”
Just now, Ye Sui and Chen Shu had spoken a few words that terrified the driver. He took them as the couple that died on the notice poster.
Coincidentally, the place where the bus dropped them was beside the cemetery. It was no wonder the driver thought so.
Ye Sui immediately approached him, who was close to the brink of collapse. “Mr. driver, my husband and I are going home for dinner.”
Finally arriving at Yan Lan’s home, Ye Sui stepped forward and rang the doorbell. After a while, the door opened, and her mother came out.
At first, Yan Lan was confused when she saw Ye Sui and Chen Shu. But then, she was pleasantly surprised and beamed delightedly. “How come you are here? Come, come in quickly.”
Ye Sui didn’t tell Yan Lan that she would come here in advance just to surprise her. The couple went in and sat in the living room. Yan Lan said, “You sit down first while I bring you water.”
As Yan Lan was going to the kitchen, Ye Sui stood up and held her hand. She glanced at her mother’s foot and asked with concern, “Does your foot still hurt?”
Yan Lan did not understand how Ye Sui knew that her foot was injured, so she was deeply moved. She had never cared so much about her before. “It doesn’t matter.”
Ye Sui was determined to have Yan Yan rest, not allowing her to get up. “Since you are a patient, don’t strain yourself.”
Ye Sui looked at Chen Shu and said, “Besides, we are not guests, so rest well.” Chen Shu also nodded in acknowledgment.
At their behest, Yan Lan had to sit there. She asked, “It’s already so late. Have you had dinner?” Ye Sui shook her head.
Knowing that they hadn’t eaten, she was in a hurry. How could this be allowed? So, she insisted on going to the kitchen to cook for Ye Sui and Chen Shu.
Ye Sui wanted to stop Yan Lan. But at this inopportune moment, a gurgling sound was heard from her stomach. Chen Shu looked at Ye Sui and smiled.
“You’re all hungry. I’ll cook right away.” This time, she refused to back down.
Yan Lan could do not much, but as long as it was within her power, she would certainly provide the best for Ye Sui.
Ye Sui rarely came, like a blue moon. Yan Lan fixed a table of dishes with great care. Ye Sui had been hungry for a long time and was famished. As soon as the food finished, she ate it, even boasting that it was delicious.
On the other hand, Chen Shu was holding the chopsticks and eating slowly. Wherever he might be, he would always remain elegant, not forgetting his manners.
After Ye Sui and Chen Shu finished dinner, it got very late. Yan Lan had already cleared up the room while they were eating. At ordinary times, she didn’t know when Ye Sui would come back, so she cleaned it every day.
Now she just needed to tidy it up a bit.
Yan Lan did not know the relationship between Ye Sui and Chen Shu. She pushed the two people into the same room: “Go to bed early. I’ve been tired all day.”
The two entered the room with their luggage, but when they gave it a glance, Chen Shu and Ye Sui were both stunned. The furniture in the room was spotless, and everything was complete. But what was embarrassing was...
There was only one bed in the room. How would they sleep here?
