Chapter 28 - I’ll Believe You For Once
Forty minutes later, the car arrived at Jones' residence.
Augustus was stunned from the sight he beheld.
Before him stood a huge mansion. There were even private pools and a golf course in the estate.
Augustus had the impression that the Harrington family's qualifications were already considered good in Halmont, but compared to the Jones family, the Harrington family could not hold a candle to them. They were a million miles apart both in terms of heritage and capabilities!
"Mr. Cross, you're here!"
A figure came to greet them. It was Howard Zander.
After what happened with Jace, Howard prostrated himself in admiration of Augustus's medical skills, and his manner at that moment was extremely respectful.
Augustus nodded to greet in return. He knew that Howard must be here because he was invited by the Jones family to treat Old Master Jones, so he did not say more.
"Let's go in together."
They entered the living room.
At that moment, in a spacious bedroom, a feeble old man was lying on the sick bed, looking like he had one foot in the grave.
He was the head of the Jones family, Newton Jones.
The Jones family members surrounded the sickbed, as well as a team of more than a dozen of medical experts.
"Elder Jones, after the joint consultation of our team of experts, we've determined that you're suffering from a total heart failure. It's in the advanced stage of this heart disease, and ordinary drugs are of no use. The only way now would be to… perform a heart transplant.
The one who spoke was a man in his fifties. His name was Simon Olsen, and he was the head of Halmont Hospital as well as the leader of the medical experts attending to Elder Jones.
Simon's diagnosis caused an outcry from the Jones family.
"In that case, hurry up and make preparations. There mustn't be a moment's delay for my father's illness!"
The person who spoke was the second son of the Jones family, Jeremiah Jones. He had stood at the top of Halmont City for several years, so his decisions were swift and effective.
However, Simon was said helplessly, "Mr. Jones, you might not know this, but heart transplantation is a very difficult problem all over the world. Not only is it extremely dangerous, the possibility of finding a suitable donor in a short period of time is also very slim..."
The Jones family was stunned.
In other words, they could only wait for Old Master Jones's death?
On the bed, Newton spoke softly, "If it were as you said and a suitable donor can't be found in a short amount of time, how much longer do I have?"
"At most… three months…"
Once these words were uttered, the Jones family was in a complete uproar.
Newton, who had always been as steady as a mountain, was also dazed and lay down helplessly on the sickbed. He seemed as if he had instantly aged ten years.
"There are so many of you experts here. Don't any of you have a solution?!" The third son of the Jones family, Justin Jones, scolded them.
"I'm sorry, we've really tried our best…"
"Tried your best? You couldn't even cure my grandfather's disease. I think you're clearly just a bunch of trash!"
Justin had been immersed in the business world for many years and had a very explosive temper.
The medical team's expressions darkened, and Simon felt himself being put on the spot.
"Third Master Jones, our team is definitely top-notch. No one in this world can cure Old Master Jones's illness, unless the God of medicine is alive!"
As soon as those words were spoken, a voice suddenly spoke.
"There's no need for the God of medicine to be alive. I can cure Old Master Jones's illness!"
Augustus spoke as he walked in.
When they saw that the person who came in was just an absolutely ordinary young man, they were instantly speechless.
"Where the hell did this person come from? How dare you cause trouble at the Jones residence. Hurry up and get lost!"
Justin was furious and cursed at Augustus immediately.
"Uncle, you misunderstood. His name is Augustus Cross. I invited him here to treat Grandpa."
Clara quickly explained.
"Cure Grandpa? Him?"
The Jones family felt like they just heard a big joke.
Justin laughed and said angrily, "Clara, is it the time for this? How could you still be in the mood to joke around?
"That boy is still wet behind the ears, but you want him to treat your Grandpa's illness? That's absolute nonsense!"
Clara explained patiently, "Uncle, please believe me. Augustus's medical skills are really amazing. He definitely has a way to cure Grandpa!"
Augustus nodded. "Yes, Old Master Jones's illness is very simple. I can indeed cure it!"
Before the Jones family could say anything, Simon could no longer hold back.
"Young man, this isn't the right way to seek fame. Do you think experts like us are inferior to a young man like you?!"
"That's right! Any one of us can be your teacher! How dare you try and display your meager skills in front of us experts? You're simply overestimating your abilities!"
The experts held a sense of superiority in front of a youngster.
Just then, someone spoke, "The ones underestimating their abilities are you!"
"President Zander? Why are you here?"
When Simon and the others saw Howard in person, they were all terrified.
Howard was the dean of Halmont Medical Academy as well as the president of the Medical Association. Whether it was his ability or his status, he was naturally leagues above these so-called experts.
Howard looked livid. "Mr. Cross has superb medical skills. It won't be an exaggeration to call him a Sage Doctor. You lot are really short-sighted to belittle him!"
"Him... A Sage Doctor?"
It was the first time they had heard of someone in his twenties being called a Sage Doctor.
Just then, Clara spoke, "I can vouch for him. Augustus's medical skills are indeed superb. My innate cold energy was cured by him!"
Newton's expression changed abruptly.
"Clara, are you telling the truth? He really cured your cold energy?"
"Of course! And he only used three needles!"
Newton was stunned.
In the past, he spent a fortune to find countless experts to treat Clara, but to no avail. However, she was easily cured by Augustus!
"Can you really cure me?"
Augustus held up a finger. "One hour. That's all I need!"
Simon and the others were instantly speechless. They needed a heart transplant to alleviate Newton's problem, but this unknown young man said that it would only take an hour?
That was too much of a bluff!
The Jones family also felt that Augustus was completely untrustworthy.
However, Newton finally nodded. "Okay, I'll believe you for once!"
