Chapter 244: White Flame Sovereign.
The heat in the dungeon was rapidly rising as Ark faced off with the Sovereign made up of pure white flame. Normally, Ark would've thought that the white flame was surprisingly beautiful, but right now he had no such thoughts. The white flame that was burning brightly in front of him represented extreme danger, and he had to be extra cautious.
One wrong step and he might end up forfeiting not only his own life but also the lives of the family waiting for him outside.
The humanoid flame didn't have a face, and definitely not eyes yet Ark felt like it was observing him. He presumed that it was doing so through the use of its soul or something, but he was unsure. This was a situation that he had yet to encounter. Whilst Ark was watching the movement of the white flame closely, he suddenly felt a slight surge in the surrounding fire mana.
Without wasting time, Ark immediately activated his own [Chaos Domain] and started accumulating mana, ready to strike back anytime.
With the activation of Ark's [Chaos Domain], a silvery grey mana suddenly appeared in a hundred-meter radius around him. This was Ark's domain, and within it, he was stronger than normal, whilst his enemies would be suppressed. Not only that, but Ark's perception towards the mana inside of his domain was a lot more precise, and even the most minute movements couldn't escape from his senses.
On the other side, the humanoid white flame waved one of its arms in Ark's direction. A large torrent of fire mana surged into a large fire tornado that swept everything in its way. Ark had already accumulated his mana and immediately responded. A large stream of water started revolving around him, creating a tornado made out of water that soon met the tornado of fire head-on.
As the tornados ground away at each other, Ark felt a little surprised.
Normally, a water tornado like that would've been enough to easily resolve the attack. Combine that with the amplification effect of Ark's domain, and Ark thought that the White Flame Sovereign would've had to make another attack to cancel out his attack. Ark realised that he had underestimated the power of the normal fire magic that the White Flame Sovereign commanded.
Since the power of its fire magic was beyond something an absolute affinity could contend with, Ark would have to come up with something else.
Thankfully, he had plenty of cards up his sleeves. As Ark accumulated mana, he waved the spear in his hands a few times, creating several streams of water that started rapidly revolving around his body like sea serpents. As they spun around him, the streams of water turned into long snake-like figures. Ark pointed his spear at the White Flame Sovereign.
The snake-like torrents of water shot out, heading towards the White Flame Sovereign at a breakneck speed.
As they travelled through the air, the water serpents ignited with dark purple lightning. The White Flame Sovereign didn't show much of a reaction to the attack and merely waved its hand again. Through such a small gesture, the fire mana in the dungeon went into a frenzy and created all kinds of flame creatures that rushed to defend their master.
As they clashed with the purple lightning water serpents, deafening explosions rang out, filling the dungeon with water vapour and smoke.
Not all flame creatures disappeared in the explosions and the remaining ones charged at Ark with ferocious momentum. Ark frowned slightly and waved his spear once. A gust of wind infused with water started revolving around the approaching flame creatures, snuffing them out in the blink of an eye. The White Flame Sovereign tilted its head slightly as it watched Ark.
It then pulled back one of its arms gently. With an unpractised swing, it punched the air slowly.
The dungeon shook heavily as a massive fist made up of scarlet flames extended from the White Flame Sovereign's arm. At the core of the scarlet flames, a small number of white embers were burning weakly. As Ark watched the attack approaching him, he had a heavy expression on his face.
He had noticed the White Flame Sovereign's actions earlier and accumulated some mana in response, but he didn't expect the attack to be so fierce.
The scarlet flames didn't bother him, but the small white embers made his soul tremble slightly. This was a fire that could injure him, and severely at that if there was enough of it. A fire that could burn a sovereign's soul was a scary thing. Using normal magic to combat it was useless, so Ark had to make a risky move.
With a sigh, Ark thrust his spear out, piercing through the air and creating a massive current of air that flew to meet the fist of fire.
The green wind magic had a tint of grey in its core, and Ark watched on with some slight trepidation as the two attacks collided in the air. The entire dungeon shook violently as a white light consumed Ark's vision. The massive tremors that shook the entire dungeon even extended to the outside world, shaking the small campsite outside.
The children who had originally been playing jovially stopped abruptly.
The adults looked at the dungeon with nervous expressions, whilst Ephine clenched her fists tightly. She had a bad feeling earlier, something like a premonition. It was like she knew that something was going to happen today. She believed in Ark, but she felt a deep sense of anxiety as she looked at the cave that Ark had entered earlier.
Atar could sense his mom's anxiety, and clenched her hand tightly.
Back in the cave, Ark heaved a sigh of relief. This was the first time he had ever tried to fuse chaos magic with normal magic. The destructive power lived up to his expectations, but the mana consumption was nothing to scoff at. Whilst that was the case, it was better than using spatial magic to shatter space.
If Ark had done that, the spatial storm would've consumed the fire fist and even the white embers, but it would've cost Ark even more mana.
Seeing that Ark had managed to counter its attack, the White Flame Sovereign finally showed a reaction. A strange ear-grating noise reverberated throughout the dungeon, causing Ark to squint in annoyance. It seemed like he had finally managed to enrage his opponent a little. Striking whilst the White Flame Sovereign was distracted, Ark thrust his spear forward.
The spear entered the empty void in a flash of blinding light before suddenly reappearing next to the White Flame Sovereign. Although it was angry, the humanoid figure of the White Flame Sovereign flickered slightly as it sensed some danger. With but a thought, it moved quickly to the left, but Ark's attack had already arrived.
As space shattered, a blinding light consumed the White Flame Sovereign's left arm. The arm was completely devoured by the shattering of space, before being purified by the blinding light.
The White Flame Sovereign, a being made up of pure flame mana had taken a large injury, as a chunk of its body was purified into nothingness. As the White Flame Sovereign raged, the dungeon shook.
