The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 170: Escape!

As he opened his eyes, Ark had no idea where he currently was, and as frantically looked around, he managed to fall down onto the ground. Naturally the sound attracted a lot of attention, and almost all of the adventurers that were present turned to look at what was happening, and what they saw was just a confused Ark that sat in the dirt, wondering what the hell was going on.

Since no one was speaking to him, Ark was about to ask what was going on, when he seemed to notice something.

Where was Ephine? As he looked around, he couldn't spot her anywhere, and his heart started to beat faster, what the hell was going on? He tried to calm himself down, but when he kept looking around, he noticed that Thufrat was nowhere to be seen either. Though he was worried, when he saw that Atar was fine, and was currently sleeping, he could at least find a little bit of inner peace.

"Where are Ephine and Thufrat?"

The abrupt question naturally surprised a lot of people, and considering his domineering voice, no one really felt like answering. Before he was able to get mad, the young lady pushed her way through the crowd that had gathered. Seeing the familiar face, Ark restrained his anger for a little bit, before he asked once more. "Where are Ephine and Thufrat?"

"They are still in the dungeon!"

With a step forward, Ark had a dangerous look in his eyes.

"What did you just say?"

"They stayed behind so that we could escape. The lady wanted us to escape with her son!"

Ark had already stopped listening after she said that they had stayed behind. Had these people actually left them behind and ran away by themselves? And they had actually taken him with them? Where did they get all of their guts from? His anger was beginning to boil over, and he already had a little trouble just restraining himself.

Even though he was furious, his first priority was to help out Ephine and Thufrat, this would have to wait until later.

Everyone could feel the tense atmosphere, as they could all see the apparent anger on Ark's face as he gave them all a quick glance. "Take care of Atar for me, if I even see as much as a hair out of place on his head when I come back then… I'll let you imagine the consequences."

Since he needed to be as fast as possible, Ark activated his "Envoy of Holiness" skill. Light that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere instantly enveloped his body, imbuing it with endless power. After a couple of seconds, the power that was enveloping his body burst out into brilliant lights that scattered everywhere.

With eyes that glowed with a white light, Ark once again gave the adventurers a final glance, before he turned around, and disappeared into nothingness.

A second or so after he had disappeared, the ground upon which he'd been standing cracked open completely.

In the middle of a dark cave, an intense battle was in midst of happening. With their combined efforts of four people, you'd think that the angel would have a hard time, but the angel didn't seem to be concerned at all with this fight. At this point, it was basically just playing around.

Even though all it was doing was playing around, all four of them were covered in wounds, while the angel was unscathed, since every time they managed to injure it, it just healed back to normal.

At this point, they were all beginning to lose their hope, as they couldn't seem to find a way to do any lasting damage, and their mana reserves were rapidly drying up. Since the only other thing they could do in this situation was try and run away, Ephine's brain started working at full capacity, trying to figure out the best way for them to get away from this terrible foe.

After only a few seconds, she managed to come up with a decent idea, all she needed was some help from the other three.

"Twins, Thufrat!"

Since she would call out to them for no reason, they all regrouped quickly, and before they could ask her what was going on, she enveloped them with a fairly gentle tornado. It only took five seconds before the tornado disappeared, and when it did, all four of them had serious expressions on their faces.

The angel was a little amused, to think that a human would use a tornado to stop him from hearing their plans, she didn't seem too stupid in his eyes.

They all quickly spread out and surrounded the angel, but the angel was too conceited to move, no matter what these humans were planning, he would take it face-first, and then watch them as they fell into despair when they realised that nothing they did would work.

With Ephine standing in the front, the twins on the sides, and Thufrat behind him, they started their attack. The twins slashed out their swords, sending out both fire and wind which came at the angel from both sides. Thufrat swung his hammer, and condensed earth mana into spikes which were sent out flying toward the angel's back.

Ephine conjured up a large sphere of water, which she swiftly hurled toward the angel.

The angel just stood there and waited for the attacks, as nothing like this would ever make a dent on him. The sword attacks dispersed by themselves as soon as they hit, and the earth spikes had no way to penetrate his black armour, as for the water sphere, it didn't even manage to explode, as it crumbled under his pressure before it even arrived, and just drenched him in water.

As the angel realised this, his anger reached new heights! He wasn't taking these humans seriously, and now it seemed like they were making fun of him? He was going to slaughter them all!

Even though their attack seemed to have failed, Ephine only sneered, everything was going according to plan so far. The twins had already joined up with each other, and while the angel was still befuddled, they had already arrived quite close to it. As they both swung their swords together at the same time, sparks of lightning erupted out of nowhere.

Unlike earlier, the twins used all the mana they had left, and created a shocking attack.

All that was heard in the quiet cave was the sound of a thunderclap that seemed to have originated from the heavens themselves. Before the angel could react, it was hit by this monstrous attack, and along with the water on its body, the angel was screwed. Thufrat didn't wait at all, and swung his hammer once more.

He had been manipulating their surroundings with his magic for a while now, and with a large "BOOM!" the entire cave started trembling.

As soon as they heard this, they all started to run as fast as they could out of the dungeon, leaving the angel behind them. The first space to collapse in the dungeon was the large settlement, and the angel was quickly buried alive.

None of the four dared to stay behind and look for even a second, and they all arrived outside of the dungeon in less than a minute, and at that point, the entire dungeon was buried underground…
