Chapter 249: My Youth (8)
Chapter 249: My Youth (8)
"What for?" Han Yehan asked. Even if the answer was already quite obvious he still asked her.
"My sister." She sighed heavily. "I just can't trust that guy at all."
"Then why don't you look at his background? Investigate him."
"Yeah... I was planning to do that but the only problem is finding time for it." Lu Xingyan was already thinking about skipping.
"Do you know what room he's in? The college campus is bigger than ours."
She pursed her lips and shook her head a bit, "No, I don't."
"Then how are you even going to find him?"
She knew that she has to gather information as well and to do that, she will have to ask Lu Weichun about it without being so obvious with her plans... There has to be another way to do that.
She suddenly remembered her cousin, Xia Liqin. He is a genius in technology just like his mother, Li Bingbing. The only problem dealing with him was... money. He will surely ask her for money especially when he is a money-driven boy.
She still couldn't understand that part of him tho. His family is rich, he is also the inheritor of the Xia family so why was he still keen on asking money from others? It's not like both families are getting poor, right?
Yes, she should go and ask for his help. Maybe she can use her reasoning skills on him.
"I know someone who can help." Lu Xingyan said as she looked at him with her bright orbs.
Han Yehan stared at her beautiful black eyes that reflected his face in them. "If you're going to visit the college campus then I should come with you."
Lu Xingyan blinked a few times in wonder, "Eh? You really don't have to you know.'
"Yes, I don't have to but I want to. Let's just say that I'll be your bodyguard by then."
If he put it that way, Lu Xingyan couldn't agree more. If things went south, she wouldn't be able to fight back if she went to that place alone. Fan Jingli has friends and at times where she is going to investigate him, she needed someone who can watch her back.
A smile found its way on her lips. She really was grateful to have Han Yehan's help, "Thank you..."
She seldom smiled with her lips, but it was her eyes that shine instead, and it was that radiance that made everyone who saw it feel the irresistible impulse to smile back.
"You don't think I'm doing this for free, do you?" He asked with a boyish grin,
The smile on Lu Xingyan's lips disappeared. She crossed her arms and raised her brow in amusement, "Friends aren't supposed to ask something back in return when they help you know."
"Sometimes they do," he chuckled. "And I really need this one."
"You do know that I can go without your help, right?"
"Really?" He asked with a playful tone."You really don't need me? That's fine. I guess you have to find someone else to look after your sister."
She pouted at what he said, "That's not fair you know. Why are you doing this now?"
He hesitated at first, averting his eyes from her inquiring gaze.
"Well?"
He heaved out a heavy sigh. She was the only person who he can ask of such a request, "That's because I need someone to help me out with my blind date?"
Blind date?
"Ahh... You should have said so in the first place. I can just help you out you know." She placed her elbow on the table as she leaned forward and rested her chin on her palm.
"Then you don't mind pretending to be my girlfriend?" He turned his gaze back to her.
Pretend? She looked at him in confusion. If she was going to pretend to be his girlfriend then that only means that it is not going to be a simple blind date, right?
She lowered her hand as she straightened her back, "If I am going to pretend to be your girlfriend then you have to give me details." She narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing him. "This is not just a blind date, right? This is more like... an arranged blind date. A date arranged by your parents perhaps?"
Han Yehan couldn't help but be amazed at Lu Xingyan's sharpness. She was able to deduce that at once just because of a small wording mistake. She really is an observant girl. She was able to catch up at once.
He slightly shook his head from side to side as he smiled in defeat, "To be more precise, it is actually my mother who arranged one."
Now that she thought about it, Han Yehan can't just be in this country just to study, right? If he was here because of this then that would make sense. She knew how his family was keen to arranged marriage just like with how his brother, Han Xukun was arranged to her cousin Lu Mengjie.
"Is this the reason why you're here?" She still asked for confirmation. She wanted to make sure that the first thing that entered her mind was correct. It was just like in an exam, if one is not sure between two answers, most of the time, the first thought that entered one's mind is correct.
He forcefully confessed, "Mostly yeah but part of it is really because of studies."
She looked at him in disbelief, "I feel like there's still something else."
He blinked innocently, acting clueless, "Like what?"
"Something like: 'My parents allowed me to study wherever I want if I agree to marry the girl they choose for me.' Like that?" She crossed her arms as she made her guess.
"..." Han Yehan was left speechless since what she said was correct. Just how does her brain works?
He didn't have to say anything. Just by looking at how his jaw dropped, Lu Xingyan could already tell that she got it right. Once again, she looked at him in disbelief, "No way."
