Chapter 215: Unexpected Reinforcements
Chapter 215: Unexpected Reinforcements
[They hired such powerful and crazy mercenaries for a lone Outer Academy Student from Akegria Academy. It seems as though they really see me as a threat to them] thought Damian to himself.
[I do hate the idea of nobles, but as Clay and the Spear Wielding Mercenary have shown me, not all of them are bad and many suffer and live terrible lives. It isn't my role to judge and execute them as I please, but if they come after and threaten my safety and that of those that I care about, I will strike them down no matter how powerful they are]
The mercenary group leader clearly saw Damian as a mere plaything and despite his power, his intention was clearly to see how much Damian could struggle before he died.
After hearing that a lone student that was injured was able to kill a royal academy student, severely injure another and also had an unusual, intelligent and powerful Monkey Beast Pet, how could he not be interested.
The reward was also very large since it was secretly sponsored by an elder of the royal academy student that was previously the master of Clay.
Clay was merely an unforeseen addition to the mercenary group leader, but he merely made it even more interesting for the mercenary group leader and this battle could be the spark of a great battle between Akegria and the Royal Academy.
[I have bought more than enough time, when will support arrive. If Royal Academy sent such powerful mercenaries after me, I am sure that Akegria Academy wouldn't give up on me even if I have been gone for so long] though Damian to himself as he backed away from the mercenary group leader with Clay.
"Come back guys, it is time to have some more fun and it seems that their reinforcements have arrived," said the mercenary group leader, who had a very sharp sense of hearing and was how he was able to gather most of his information.
His hearing was incredible and he had been gifted with such hearing from a young age and it allowed him to always tell whether someone was lying.
He could hear the heartbeat of everyone within a few dozen metres of him and could filter all the sound that entered his ears, while he could also use sound to navigate.
From Damian's heartbeat, the mercenary group leader was able to tell that he believed in everything he said and that either made him crazy or extremely confident, but either way, it was entertaining to play along with him.
While he could also tell that Damian was extremely weakened and fatigued to the point that if he continued to exert himself, he could cause himself severe backlash and even kill himself.
It also allowed him to hear that there was a carriage arriving before anyone else and they all stood in silence for a minute before they were able to slightly hear the carriage that was heading in their direction at rapid speeds.
The mercenary group leader was by no means afraid, but he had seen Damian's talent and value first hand, so wasn't underestimating the reinforcements that were sent and stood where he was with his two subordinates as he awaited the arrival of the carriage.
Damian wasn't complaining and sat down in a cross legged position, aiming to recover and relax his body as much as he could, still prepared to fight and not planning on relying on any reinforcements that he knew nothing about.
"Why are you waiting for the reinforcements and giving him time to recover? Finish him off, then help us get out of here or we will report you to the academy" threatened the royal academy students.
Hearing that, the two mercenaries that stood on either side of the mercenary group leader began to laugh along with the mercenary leader who turned to face the two royal academy students.
"The only reason I have left you two alive is because I am happy you have found me some entertainment, but do not become so arrogant. I am not afraid of the Royal Mercenaries or anyone else and were are much more valuable to them than you are. You two are also ordering us to kill a member of your own academy that is more talented, so your hands cannot be said to be clean"
The mercenary group leader was calm and confident and if it wasn't for his craziness, he would be a very talented leader and cultivator.
"Just watch and be quiet, then I will guarantee your survival and safety"
With that, the two royal academy students had no choice but to listen and watch what was occurring, but were still prepared to ditch everything in order to save themselves and get away.
Clay stood close to Damian, ready to protect him from any sneak attacks while he made the most of the time that he had to recover and the carriage reached them within a few minutes.
Whoever was in the carriage was clearly moving at rapid speeds from the loud sounds of the beasts leading the carriage and when they were in sight and neared them, Damian got up to see who exactly was in the carriage and what he saw completely shocked him.
He was expecting that his master had sent some trusted subordinates or a mission was put in place by the Mission Hall to find and retrieve one of their members, but the one he saw leading the carriage was not who he expected.
However when he thought about it, who else was better to come to his aid than his friends.
"Damian, we are coming to save you" yelled Milo at the top of his lungs as he led the carriage and saw Damian in sight.
It was expected that Milo who was reckless would come to the aid of Damian, but he didn't expect for there to be his 3 other friends to be in the carriage.
