Chapter 851 Something Odd

Chapter 851 Something Odd

"It doesn't seem like they have any good intentions.." Blinken spoke with a calm look as he glanced towards the distance. Even though no one could be seen there, he knew they were.

The Village Chief frowned upon listening to them. He clearly had stated that they were to leave Max and Blinken. But, it was obvious from the current situation that someone was not satisfied with his decision, and had overstepped their boundary by going against him.

"Sigh! Don't do anything to them. It must be one of the Elders who is still suspicious about your origins."

"What about you? I am sure they must have seen you by now. Is there any method for them to inform the village that you are travelling with us?" Max asked as he looked at the guy.

"Well, we do have messenger birds. But, it doesn't matter who I am with. I have left the letter behind. Besides, if they have seen me with you guys, they won't do anything foolish. So, let's continue on our way.." The Red Haired Chief spoke with a serious look on his face.

Blinken didn't seem to be satisfied with the answer though. He looked towards Max with a dissatisfied look on his face.

"Leave them be for now. But, if they really cross the line, then we won't be polite… Max looked towards the Chief at the end of his sentence, leaving a warning.

There was a limit to patience after all.

"There won't be any such situation. Let's go. I will lead the way.." The Village Chief spoke as he looked in the direction where the people tailing them were hiding, and then took the lead to leave the place.

  …

The group of three travelled for the whole day, and soon the sun set beneath the horizon and the surrounding began to turn dark while the temperature rapidly dropped.

Hence, they decided to stop for the night and camp out in the open.

"Did we really need to stop? I could have still gone ahead with no problem?" Blinken muttered with calm as he looked at the Chief sitting on the other side of the little campfire.

"You sure could have…" The Village Chief smiled as the reflections of the flames danced in his eyes. "But, the nights in this place are not an easy one. It's better to lay low, and keep yourself at one place rather than moving around.."

There was a little hint of warning mixed within those light words.

"Try and sense around a bit.." Max looked at Blinken and smiled. He knew that travelling in the night would get them to their destination faster. But, it sure was going to be a pain in ass. And, he wasn't in that much of a hurry to take the pain.

Blinken's brows creased upon hearing Max, and he slowly spread out his senses when his face twitched and he realized something.

The place around was actually crawling with Beasts. Yes, these were sand beasts. Monster like creatures very similar to Mana beast but a little different and one indigenous to the current era and place.

'But, why are they not attacking?' Blinken was a little confused when he realized that the beasts were encircling them, but not daring to intrude within a radius of 100 m to them. Something really seemed fishy here.

  "Hmmn.."

Finally, Blinken realized why it was so. It was the campfire. The Beasts were roaming around in the dark shadows but not daring to intrude in the light filled area.

  "Roar!!!!!!!!!!"

Suddenly, a sky piercing roar resounded through the barren dry land shaking the earth and sky alike.

All three of the trio suddenly felt a chill rise up their spines on hearing the roar. A strange pressure seemed to be carried by this roar which seemed to have enough capability to suppress heaven and hell.

All the Beast's which had been roaming around in the vicinity immediately calmed down and laid motionlessly in submission.

"What is that?" Blinken asked as sweat rolled down his forehead.

"Definitely seems like the thing we need to deal with .." The Village Chief spoke with a dark look on his face.

Max on the other hand was staring into the distance where the roar had come from. The roar was really overbearing but it wasn't like the one they had heard before.

'It seems this creature is a little different. But, something felt off..' Max couldn't help but think like that. His skin had felt a prickling sensation, it was clear that the pressure which had been brought down on him contained something which could make Max feel the pressure. But, it didn't seem to belong to the creature itself.

After all, a creature at the level of Ascension was not something that Max and others could deal with. Even its pressure at this distance should be able to smash them half to death if not fully.

"We are still doing this, right?" The Village Chief couldn't help but ask on seeing Max go into a deep thought with that frown on his face.

"Of course, there is no change.." Max finally broke out of his thoughts, and replied.

  …

  On the other side…

  Ocien.

"I smell it…the presence of trash.." A bald man stood at the entrance of the Orena bordering the Ocean. This was actually a border camp made to defend the borders by the Scarlets and it had a lot of forces deployed.

Currently, a group of people had arrived at the entrance of the Border. And, this was actually a rare scene. After all, the border around this part was known to be very dangerous, and it was rare that you would see people venturing into it.

"Who's there?" A guard finally seemed to notice the group.

The bald man slowly raised his head, and looked at the guard on the border wall.

"Go and get your Commander. I was only here to oversee the competition this time. But, with the smell of this trash lingering around, it seems I will need to change my plans.." The Bald man smiled as he licked his lips.

The people following behind couldn't help but shake their heads.

"Did he smell Demons again?" One of the guys asked his comrade.

  "Probably.." Another nodded.

"But, we were told not to cause any incident this time. And, this is Ocien of all the place, not the small village like last time…" The person spoke with a nervous look on his face.

"I know, but who will tell that to this mad man. He slaughtered an entire village to pull one Demon out. Do you really think you can talk sense to such a man?" The person spoke with a helpless look on his face, "Let's just hope he knows where to stop. But, Ocien will definitely see blood this time around.."
