The Alpha's Return

Chapter 81 - Complete Failure

When Lucas opened his eyes, the room that he was within was completely dark. He struggled a little but got up. He looked around to see where he was.

He was in the same room that he was once in, recuperating from the wound that brought him to this place. He was in Michael's lair, in Michael's bedroom. It was the exact same situation just a few weeks ago, and now, it happened once again.

"Deja vu.", Lucas chuckled.

He moved slightly as he got off the bed.

"Oh my god, how is my body still aching?", Lucas cried out with pain.

He barely got on his feet. He staggered as he moved forward. His legs were shaking as he took strides towards the door.

"Why am I struggling to walk? This isn't right. Why is my body so weak?", Lucas wondered as he continued walking towards the door.

He opened it. The light outside shone. Lucas could hear a few people talking.

"Praneeth?", he said out loud as he walked out. He saw indeed, that Praneeth was talking to Angela about something. He walked towards them.

Praneeth also saw Lucas, and he stopped talking to Angela. He walked towards Lucas. Lucas nodded towards Praneeth.

"We need to talk.", Lucas said with a solemn voice.

"I will gather the entire council. You need to tell us what happened. We need to figure everything out.", Praneeth nodded.

Lucas nodded, and he walked along with Praneeth. He was here before, and he knew where to go. He intended to go to where they were sitting the last time they were here. He was going to the meeting room that they were in, when they discussed if the council would help Lucas or not.

The two of them quickly navigated through this ware house, and were able to find the meeting room in little to no time. By now, Lucas could feel some of his power returning to him, and his originally pale face now had some colour to it.

Lucas went right in, and sat at the head of the table.

Praneeth was walked past Lucas and sat at the other end.

"How long was I under the ground? I am pretty sure it was quite a while.", Lucas asked Praneeth.

"You were gone for a while.", Praneeth said.

"Stop dodging the question. How long was I asleep?", Lucas asked once more.

Praneeth looked away, and he tapped his nails together as he muttered, "A week."

"A week! A week? What the hell happened for me to sleep for a week?", Lucas shouted.

"Well, why not wait for Michael to come, and explain that to you.", Praneeth said.

"Shut up and just tell me what he did.", Lucas snapped.

"Well, thing is... You told him to give you the moon drops, but Michael said something about you not being worth it, and that just waiting a few more days would be enough. Who knew that a few days would turn into a week? In the middle, I suggested to him to give you some anyway, but he just gave me a bill. I couldn't afford it, so we paid with time.", Praneeth said.

"You are saying that a little hospital bill was what made me lose seven days of my life? Are you kidding me?", Lucas shouted.

"Don't just call it a hospital bill. It was a million dollar hospital bill.", Praneeth corrected Lucas.

"A million dollars? You could have given me the bill. I would have footed it. And what is a million dollars? Just chump change. You can't possibly be serious. The world is ending, and you are worried about a million dollars?", Lucas asked Praneeth.

"The world is ending. Yes. That is right. The world is ending. Then why the hell is it, that you were found in the middle of the street, naked, and the marquess gone? I thought that you were the strongest here.", Praneeth shouted all of a sudden. He was standing now, and his face was full of rage.

"You are angry. That is rare.", a deep and sombre voice came from within Lucas.

"For good reason. What the hell happened inside, Fenrir? You choked? For a moment, I will not take into account the fact that a building in the middle of new york just blasted, and thousands are injured. I will not take into account that there are a few hundred accounts that there was a man flying in the sky, naked. I will put all of that aside. But you said that you would take care of the marquess. And that clearly has not happened.", Praneeth shouted.

"Like you were perfect. You were gone. I had to face her on my own. And then, I was facing this homunculus. That's right. They perfected the homunculus as well. It was hard to beat. I had to give the reins to this bad boy here, and Fenrir just screwed my whole body up. It was so painful. Then, the homunculus self destructed. After that- Why the hell am I saying this to an empty meeting room? Call everyone. They need to know what happened as well.", Lucas shouted.

"Oh my god. What is with all of this shouting? It is getting kind of irritating.", the door of the meeting room opened. Lucas glanced at who had arrived. It was Raphael.

"I thought that the door was closed? Isn't this place supposed to be sound proof or something?", Lucas asked.

"Don't change the topic. Why were you shouting so much?", Raphael asked again.

"We were in a slight disagreement. Where are the others? Lucas said that he had something to tell all of us.", Praneeth said.

"A slight disagreement huh? Yeah, I am not buying that. But anyway, the others are all in their rooms. What do you mean, where are they? Angela was right there, but you left her hanging to go talk to Praneeth.", Raphael laughed.
