The Alpha's Return

Chapter 80 - Self Destruction

"You should have led with that, you idiot. It might come back to life? Why didn't you say that earlier?", Lucas shouted as he rushed back to where the Homonculus was lying on the ground.

He looked at the decapitated body of the man shaped thing. There was metal flowing from the body of the homunculus, and it stained the ground that it was under.

Lucas looked at the head of the homunculus. The eyes of the head were wide open, and unblinking.

"Do you think that just not blinking will trick me into thinking that you do not have any life left in you? Even humans can live on with decapitated heads for close to half a minute. Some pleasant surprises of mine even went on for a full minute. But you, you are no longer human. You are the best of many creatures. You cannot possibly die after just a decapitation.", Fenrir said from within Lucas.

"You couldn't happen to tell me this? You didn't think that I could use this information beforehand? And when did you try out any experiments on bloody decapitated humans?", Lucas raged.

"Just go with it.", Fenrir said.

The homunculus' head started trembling. The lips, which seemed to exist only for name sake, started trembling.

"Red wolf. I failed to liberate you. My failure to liberate the red wolf is the reason for my death. I have failed the creator, and myself.", the homunculus muttered with a low tone that even Lucas could barely hear with his super human hearing.

"Not good.", Lucas' expression changed. He retreated back, and fast.

The head, and the body of the homunculus started glowing in a bright red. Then, the body became orange, and it started falling apart, as if in intense heat.

Kaboom!

For the first time since he had entered the building with the rest of the council, Lucas exited. He could see the moon and the night lights of new york. But most prominent of them all was the orange light of the blast from the building from which Lucas was flying away.

Swish.

Lucas appeared in an alley all of a sudden, in the hands of Michael.

"Are you kidding me? You are naked? You are so goddamn lucky that I have more important things to do than naked shame you.", Michael scoffed as Lucas felt a warm cloth hit his body.

"Just give me a few minutes. I will recover soon. I just need to get a little power. That blast also had some poison within it. That goddamn homunculus had a failsafe plan for killing me. Take me somewhere, and if you have more moon drops. I need more of that essence if I want to heal faster.", Lucas said.

"How hard was the fight? For it to take such a big toll on your body.", Michael asked.

"I couldn't fight the marquess. She escaped. But she left me a pesky thing to deal with. So Fenrir took over. And he has no regard to my body. He misused it quite a bit before he was done with the homunculus.", Lucas said weakly.

"But you can't be this weak.", Michael said.

"Wait a minute.", Lucas' eyes went wide. He reached for Michael's hand and twisted it. He then jumped back a few steps, clutching the cloth close to his body to cover his privates. His chiseled body, and muscles were on display.

"You are not Michael. The first thing that Michael would do would be to take me to the rest of the council. I can't hear any other heart beats here.", Lucas said.

"Oh? Looks like I got found out. And I thought that the illusion would last a little bit longer.", a sweet voice came from the other side. But this voice was not the same as that of the marquess'. It was different, and the one behind the voice seemed a little immature compared to the marquess.

"Who are you, and what do you want with me?", Lucas asked. He was looking around. After hearing that he was in an illusion, he knew that he couldn't trust his senses much anymore, and was trying to stay on guard for an attack.

"Oh, I am not here to harm you. If I wanted to, then I would have killed you when I had the chance.", the voice spoke again. Lucas could not figure out where the source of the voice was.

A purple light came from the side. Lucas glanced at the alley that he was in right now, and where the light was coming from.

"Looks like my time with you is done, handsome. Let us meet again. You will remember who I am. Of course, you will recognize me.", the voice said.

The body of Michael faded away, and all that was left was an empty alley, and a purple light that was coming from the entrance of the alley.

Lucas' ears perked up. He looked at the entrance. He could hear someone approaching. But a few seconds later, his body relaxed. Now, he could see who the people who were coming, were. They were the council members.

"Lucas! Are you alright? What happened to you? Why are you semi naked? And who gave you that cloth? It looked like a... a blanket? Who would have a blanket, and why would they give it to you?", Michael, the real Michael, asked Lucas.

"Thank god it is you guys.", Lucas sighed with relief.

"What do you mean, thank god it is you guys? What happened Lucas? And why do you look so powerless?", Michael asked once more.

But Lucas was not in a position to answer these questions. He felt the power from his legs draining. He felt his vision blackening.

"Take me to your lair. Get me a few moon drops. Fast.", he said as he fell towards Michael.
