Chapter 109 Arena
Zayn was eyed as if he was a nutcase, but that was exactly the reaction he wanted to receive.
He had bet his whole fortune on the least likely scenario, which was that he could defeat the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger in less than a minute.
Even powerful Blessed had difficulties fighting the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger while being Soul Squires at the Peak of their rank and they were in possession of powerful techniques and abilities which they had obtained from their Gods.
How was Zayn, a Normie without any extraordinary abilities, be able to defeat the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger? That was simply impossible in the eyes of the Colosseum's Analysts and the thousands of active Gamblers who were trying to assess the situation to make the biggest fortune.
Most Normies died in the first three seconds when forced to face the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger. They were burned to a cinder because they were immediately hit by the Monster's flames. Most were not even able to react in time before they were set ablaze.
However, the fact that Zayn bet on his own survival and that he would be able to kill the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger within the first 60 seconds could mean quite a lot.
Zayn was either desperate for money, too full of himself and confident in his capabilities to actually make it happen, or he was crazy and unbothered by the high possibility to lose his life in the Colosseum's Challenge.
There was also a slight possibility of Zayn's attempt to turn into a Hero capable of achieving the impossible, while barely being 14 years old.
For a 14-year-old Normie to have advanced to the Peak of the Soul Squire rank, Zayn had to have some talent. All of that was taken into consideration by the professional Gamblers, who ended up betting most of their fortune on Zayn's death within the first 60 seconds.
They were certain that Zayn would die, but not in the first three seconds which could already be considered a very high evaluation.
Some Gamblers made sure that their remaining fortune was distributed on the least likely scenarios that provided a high enough multiplicator to make up for the losses they would make. But, of course, there were not many willing to spend their money on betting that Zayn would win.
The person whose life and death were being used as a bet was witnessing all of this. However, rather than being disgusted at the attitude of the Gamblers and the discussions that were directly related to their analysis of the upcoming battle, Zayn was quite intrigued by their opinion.
In the library, he had already learned quite a bit about the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger. It was not as strong as the crippled Chimera, not even close, but it was a monster that could be considered an apex predator.
Under normal circumstances, it would take a group of five Blessed at the Peak Soul Squire rank to kill a single Blazing Sabertooth Tiger, without getting killed or gravely injured.
Yet, Zayn was supposed to deal with it by himself.
But that was not something he had to be worried about, especially not in the enclosed space of the Colosseum's Arena and using the fact that the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger had also been imprisoned in the Colosseum for close to ten years.
No matter how ferocious the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger was in the wild, it was bound to have lost some of its touch after being caged almost the entire time for a decade. It was only released when it was supposed to fight. It was simply impossible for the monster to be the same as it was in the wild, even more so after fighting Normies that died in seconds.
'To think that nobody dares to bet for my overwhelming victory despite the high multiplicator is truly a shame…for them,' Zayn thought before he returned to his room.
He had a rather simple dinner, scrubbed himself well in the shower and then went to bed, not really thinking about what would happen the following day.
The next day, Zayn woke up late. He was woken by the sound of a knock and a loud voice that thundered from behind the wooden door.
"Challenger Zayn, are you ready for your fight?!"
Zayn yawned, got up from the bed and opened the door half asleep. Holding his hand in front of his wide open mouth to stifle his yawn, he looked at the Guard who stared at him unmoving, his eyes blinking in clear confusion.
"Give me five minutes to quickly shower and change into my clothes. I'll come out then," Zayn mumbled, and was about to close the door when he recalled something, "Is it already time for the fight?"
The Guard, unable to maintain a professional neutral expression, stared incredulously at Zayn. His expression clearly showed what was going on in his mind. Zayn, however, just smiled, ignoring the Guard.
'Think whatever you want. Your eyes will pop out of your eyesockets later if this is already too much for you to handle.'
Zany put on a simple leather armor, and retrieved the two Dragontale Twin Sabers with their scabbards from within the expanding pouches. Afterward, he handed the expanding pouches to the Guard.
"Put your temporary seal on them. 15 minutes should be more than enough," Zayn ordered, confusing the Guard even more. The Guard was just a young man who was quite new to his job. In fact, he was just hired because his God had granted him the same power that his father had been granted a long time ago.
"Are you not supposed to seal my expanding pouch to prevent me from using any petty tricks?" Zayn asked, raising an eyebrow at the unmoving Guard, who flinched. The Guard regained his senses and looked at him for a second before a golden magical circle formed around the two expanding pouches.
"I sealed the storage artifacts' effect for half an hour, just to make sure," The Guard mumbled while trying to ignore Zayn's frown as well as possible, "...the protocol says so…"
Zayn shrugged. He walked out of his room, his hands calmly resting on the lower end of his sabers' hilts.
'He certainly doesn't look like he gave up on life,' the young Guard thought, more like he doesn't think of his opponent as a challenge.
Was the young Normie truly confident of defeating the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger in 60 seconds?
