Chapter 184: A battle
Chapter 184: A battle
There was a concrete reason why Seth accepted Saito's condition to access the vault despite knowing his twisted personality and the thirst Saito carries for Seth's blood.
This vault seemingly had some precious barrier artifacts and ancient tome which would have helped Seth learn a new spell that was focused on influencing a wide area. At times of catastrophe, he would need anything and everything that was useful for a warrior, so this treasure became more so, significant.
However now, the beings residing in the heavens have decided to interfere by planting a guardian on the vault, meaning that there was something more than just meter artifacts.
And Seth was prepared to take the risk of gaining something valuable.
"Kuku...didn't know you were such a naive person Seth. Well, what could I have expected from someone who can't even differ between friend and foe."
Seth didn't retort since Saito was right in this matter.
In their previous life he never even noticed, how the person Seth was regarded as his friend was actually harboring ill intent toward him. Truly, foolish.
"So are you gonna stand there and pretend to be cool?" Saito dramatically huffed with his hand resting over his waist as he looked at Seth in disappointment.
"Let's get over this." Seth readied his daggers as he stood just a few meters away from Saito with his right arm being bound by the same Divine Chains with which, Saito was restrained.
Hearing his words, the violet-haired boy grinned before he raised his hand and conjured a spear in his grip.
"Weapon summoning...." Seth breathed heavily. This technique was no mere joke and something that even after years of training one might not be able to achieve. Arata possessed the skill because of his connection with Thunder Emperor who was able to summon his blade on his will, easily.
However, for such a young person as Saito...
'When did he grow such strong...' Seth knew this wasn't going to be easy, more so, when Saito knew all of Seth's skills but it was not the same way around.
"Haha...look at you. So terrified of me. But well, unluckily for both of us, we won't be able to kill each other."
Before Seth could have reacted to that, he had to tilt his head left to dodge the spearhead, aimed at his eye. His eyes widened and a chill trickled down his spine upon missing that strike by just a minuscule margin.
Crouching, Seth wanted to make some distance from the man before suddenly, he found Saito's knee advancing toward his face.
"Akh..." Seth groaned since the pace of that kick was something he could only perceive but wasn't able to dodge.
His face was smacked hard and Seth was thrown meters away from his spot. His glasses broke and a stream of blood trailed down his nose as Seth somehow stabilized himself using his psychokinesis.
"Oho~That felt oddly nice~" Saito smugly planted his spear on the ground with his head tilted. He indeed seemed to be having the best moments of his life.
Seth regulated his breath before wiping off his blood. He didn't anticipate the kid to be this fast on his limbs.
Throwing away the broken frame, he readied himself. He couldn't be on the defensive that was for sure and this battle was not something Saito was going to deal with his magical aspect.
'That would have been easier for me...' His Soul Suppressing strike was his ace and the technique that very few could dodge. However, there was something different about Saito...he wasn't utilizing Soul Energy to fortify his limbs.
"Oyeaaaah...dodge this!" Seth was prepared this time and anticipated the attack well before it could have landed as he tilted his head to the left and crossed his palm near his lower abdomen.
*Dhak*
The spearhead was met by open air, and Saito's raised knee was blocked easily by Seth.
"Won't work twice." Hearing Seth's heavy voice, Saito smirked, before he snapped his finger.
*BOOOOOOM*
"Seth!" "Oni-sama!!" Both Maydeath and Anabelle yelled at the same time seeing the spot where once the two figures stood, exploding with a small dark cloud now engulfing them.
However, they couldn't do anything about it since Anabelle had already tried healing Seth just now when he was kicked by Saito...but the spell was nullified before it could reach him.
Under their widened gaze, a figure suddenly shot out of the cloud, torn from places and heavily injured across his body.
It was Seth.
"Agh..." Seth groaned as he felt himself colliding with the ground and this body crying in pain. The explosion was not extremely violent yet the concentration of the explosion was enough to break several of his bones and make him nearly blind because of the smoke.
"Kuku...it felt nice. It felt ecstatic!" On the other end, Saito remained at his spot with his clothes covered with dust and dark spots but he seemed completely fine by the destruction. Like the spell was only triggered for Seth.
"He tanked it..." Arata's murmur made the two ladies widen their gaze in astonishment.
To be able to withstand just a devastating blow...it made them wonder whether Saito had bones of diamond or something...
On the other end, Seth didn't remain on the ground for long. He has already thrown away his daggers since he knew, weapons were futile in front of this opponent. Saito hasn't just learned how to handle his body and strike at a person's vitals but adding the magical aspect into account makes him deadly.
"A battle...is it." Seth couldn't help but smirk along those words as he patted his torn shirt and dusted it off lightly.
Saito's laugh soon died down, as with his brows raised he asked, in a less cheerful tone, "What do you mean by that?"
Seth couldn't help but grin. Not just a small smile but with his teeth peeking and eyes shot blood red. His whole demeanor oozed with danger one would not like to face in their sane mind.
Seth tilted his head with his long olive hair falling to the side of his face before he responded in a clearer manner, "This is a battle. I consider it, so rejoice now!" Seth raised both his hands above his head as he announced in a loud tone
The three in the audience immediately shivered seeing his current state.
...they have seen that side of Ryuuta in the previous life, and at that time, nothing less than chaos occurred.
However, the only one who wasn't present at that time, only frowned before he swirled his spear on his palm and once again launched forward.
"Give it your best p-" Saito's sentence mid-way obstructed and so his body since all of a sudden, something felt off.
...his spear was gone.
'No...not just my spear...' Saito stiffly turned his left toward the left...only to realize that a significant part of his body was missing.
"!!!"
