Chapter 257: I'm glad you Helped me

It was Wednesday and our results were announced. The atmosphere in the class was quite tense as usual. Few students were delighted with their results while others were not satisfied with their marks.

It was always like this during the result announcement.

As for me, I ended up scoring 89% so I wasn't pleased with my marks. I thought that I could at least cross 90%, but in some ways it was good. Since I could judge my level and work on it accordingly.

Though, my inferiority complex was peaking at that moment.

As for the person I used to share my desk with, she didn't seem to be sad about her results even though she flunked in physics. I was noticing Kizhashi's carefree demeanor and it was irritating me.

I hate people like that.

I was standing near the teacher's desk talking to Ms Tachibana who was about to leave, "So Sakamaki, here's the directory and the list is inside it."

"Yeah." I nodded and she smiled softly, "Sorry for troubling you."

"Nah, it's alright." I replied since I was pretty confident about the fact that I can complete that task faster than any other student. She nodded and said, "You don't have to hurry. Just do it before home time."

"Yeah don't worry about it." I said with an assuring tone while talking it from the desk. She narrowed her eyes at me and said, "You're planning to speedrun this, aren't you?"

"Wha… of course not." I smiled sheepishly as she saw right through me. She chuckled while covering her lips and said, "Don't make any mistakes. The information is important."

"Don't worry."

"If you want, take help from someone." She advised while leaving the class and I nodded. With that she left the class, "Okay then, I'm leaving it to you."

Taking the directory, I returned to my desk. I noticed that Kizhashi was making a lot of noise while talking with her friends. Trying my best to ignore them, I sat down and decided not to tell them to 'fuck off'.

The class was getting empty since it was PE period. Tsūmen and Gaisen saw me with the directory and we talked wih ours eyes as they understood the situation and left without me.

I was sitting quietly waiting for them to leave so that I can work in complete peace but it seemed like they didn't have plans to leave anytime soon.

"Can y'all talk somewhere else?" I said in a low tone as one of them raised her eyebrows and looked at me, "Huh?"

"It's PE, right? Go talk somewhere else." I said in my usual tone. A frown formed on her face as she asked in a hostile tone, "Do you have problem with us?"

"I'm actually doing something so I would appreciate it." I said pointing towards the open list and directory. Another of them asked with curiousity, "What is that?"

"Just the class record and stuff. I'm verifying the details." I said following her flow as she nodded and said, "Ah, we'll go then."

"Don't mess it up." Another of them said as they walked towards the door. As they were about to leave, I decided to ask for help, "Kizhashi…"

"Uh… yes?" She turned around and looked at me with a bit of confusion on her face, as I asked, "Can you help me with this?"

"No… I'm busy. Do it yourself." She straight up rejected and left with her friends while laughing about it. I sat there feeling an idiot for asking her.

What a bitch.

But the classroom was empty with everyone gone and my were wandering around from desk to desk. It feels weird to be alone in a place which is used to being crowded with people at all times.

Taking a sigh, I shifted my eyes back at the directory and started matching the student details from the list. It was a hefty job since I had to match six details from the list to the directory.

And since the class had 40 students, it meant matching a total of 240 entries. But I was trying to finish the whole work in the PE period only which was 45 minutes long. Keeping all that in mind, I had to work quite quickly without making any mistakes.

I started doing the work without keeping a track of the time. My whole focus was on the work but I could hear the noise from other classes and different places way clearly since I was sitting in absolute silence.

I was done with 17 students when I suddenly heard the door of the classroom slid open. My eyes shifted towards the door and I noticed the figure of Kizhashi standing in front of it.

"I… can help you." She said in a hesitant tone while walking towards me as I asked, "Weren't you busy?"

"Nah, I'm done talking with them." She replied in much certainty in her tone. I was still a bit dubious about it so I asked, "You sure?"

"So, what do I have to do?" She said, taking seat next to me. I pointed towards the list and started, "See this list?"

"Yes… what's this?"

"It has the name of the students with some necessary details. See… the mobile number email, and stuff." I said as she took the list in her hands and glanced at it.

"Okay?"

"So just dictate those details to me. I'm checking if the information on the list is the same as here." I said while returning my gaze towards the open directory as she nodded, "Ohh… alright."

"I'm already done till 17, so you can start from after it."

"Woah! Already halfway done?"

The rest of the class went by with her dictating the names and details while I only matched them. It was much more efficient and the work got done before time so I was glad that she helped me.

Though I ended up wondering about the question, why she ditched her friends or the opportunity to play in the PE period just to help a guy like me who was using her all along?

It wasn't the only time I was thankful to her.. Every time I found myself in a situation which was relatively easy compared to how it would've turned out without her help, I was grateful to her.
