Chapter 28: The Fight Began

Chapter 28: The Fight Began

"Now then..." Sakim stood up from the ground as he turned around to face the many experience points waiting for him. He gripped his sword even more tightly before swinging it in the midair a few times. His eyes were telling that he was now ready to bring the pain at any moment.

Even so, a hint of doubt still lingered in his heart. Could he really do it? Could he really kill them all? Sakim wasn't sure. If not for the fact that he wasn't allowed to exit the dungeon, he wouldn't even bother himself to deal with these rats.

But what else could he do? He was trapped inside the hidden dungeon and the only way to exit was to defeat the boss. And for the boss to appear before him, Sakim knew well that he needed to annihilate every single monster in the area.

That said, Sakim could only try killing them all. The only thing that he was relying on that gave him confidence for victory were his huge amount of HP, the many healing items he had, his trump card, and lastly, his passive skill: Greed. With all these factors, his courage was being ignited.

After thinking about it, he then stared at the Cave Rats as he thought about how to deal with them.

It was much better if those rats would instead come at him one by one so that he wouldn't have so much trouble to frustrate over.

But seeing that the other party wasn't planning on attacking him, he could only click his tongue and come at them instead. One must know that he was itching to go back to the beginner's village already. Thus, he didn't want any more delay as he wanted to finish his business in this place as soon as possible.

So with killing intent exuding out of him, Sakim made a step forward as he rushed towards the many Cave Rats. He was like a mighty lion rushing to the group of hyenas trying to chase them away.

Just like a dog that only knew how to bark, the many Cave Rats, on the other hand, screeched ferociously against the incoming enemy. Since they had no choice but to fight the other party, they should at least put their direst retaliation. One must know that even a trapped rat knew how to bite back.

But then, when they thought that Sakim would continue moving forward, they suddenly saw the other party halting his steps midway. The Cave Rats were still bewildered what had just happened when they suddenly heard the other party speaking,

"Damn, why did I forget that thing..." When Sakim halted his steps, he couldn't help but slap his forehead. Did his brain fail him again? Sakim could only click his tongue twice as he turned around to see the exit of the hidden dungeon. He'd just recalled something very important.

In the beginning, he'd overcome many sorts of obstacles with the help of his passive skill: Greed. Even death and darkness were left helpless against his passive skill. Not even the rules of this world could stop him. Not even the Heavens themselves.

But now, he'd just forgotten about this passive skill of his. Sakim couldn't help but frown. Was his memory getting duller and duller? Or his eagerness to go to the beginner's village prevented him to see the other important variables?

Sakim took a deep breath to calm himself down and clear up his mind. After which, he fixed his gaze at the dungeon exit very intently.

Since he couldn't exit the hidden dungeon because of some kind of restriction, then why would he bother following that restriction if he could just steal the barrier itself? As what was already known, Sakim didn't want to deal with this bunch of rats that could only waste most of his time.

Thus, he stepped forward not caring about the bunch of Cave Rats anymore. As his intention to steal the barrier, greed had, of course, triumphed in his heart again with a wide grin. And he didn't even notice anything at all. That he was starting to be controlled by his greed again.

But then, Sakim was just having one or two steps when suddenly, he felt something dangerous coming from behind him. He didn't think any deeper as he hurriedly turned around. But when he did, two rats were already obstructing his view and were just about to land on his face.

Sakim was shocked. There were actually some rats who were courageous enough to even dare sneak attack on him? This was really unforgivable.

From the looks of it, these two rats had jumped onto him like a hungry wolf hunting its prey. Thankfully, Sakim had immediately felt the killing intent of these rats, or else, they might probably succeed on their sneak attack.

So seeing that the two rats were about to land on him, Sakim quickly brandished his sword against these two rats. A clang then soon followed when his sword and the claws of these two rats had collided against each other.

Sakim was pushed back from the impact. It appeared that his strength stat really was so low. Even so, he managed to deflect the two rats as both rats were pushed away as well. It was just a little distance though. Compared to him who made a couple of step-backs just to regain his balance, the rats appeared to be stronger than him. Sakim even felt that he didn't manage to push away those two rats as it was their will to jump back when their claws and his sword met.

But Sakim had no more time to think about it. Seeing that he managed to lure away two rats from the crowd, he wouldn't let this chance slip as he hurried himself to kill these two rats already.

That said, he rushed towards the rats as his sword was ready to give a horizontal slash against them. The two rats seemed to not want to back away as they greeted the other party with their sharp claws.

Two consecutive clangs then echoed when Sakim's sword and the claws of the other party met. But this time, no one was pushed back as their weapons had slid past each other. At that moment, however, seeing that he finally managed to close his distance towards the rats, Sakim didn't let the chance slip as he touched one of the rats with his other hand.

After which was done, Sakim let out a slight smile as he couldn't help but mutter, "Steal."

Squeak!

The rat he had touched let out its final cry as it turned into ashes before splattering on the ground.

On the other hand, seeing that its friend was killed right in front of its eyes, the other rat who came at Sakim opened its mouth as it was intending to bite Sakim to death.

But Sakim wasn't shaken as he simply raised his hand and then touched the nose of the rat. "Steal." And with a smile, Sakim had stolen the life of that rat as well. It then let out its final cry before turning into ashes.

"So I can steal their entire HP huh..." Sakim realized. This stealing ability of him was really astonishing. He even felt that it was way more convenient to use this passive skill of his rather than using his sword. It was just a pity that no item was being dropped this time around as well.

In any case, learning that it would be much better if he instead used his passive skill: Greed to kill those rats, Sakim gave up using his [Rusty Sword] as he unequipped it. He summoned the Inventory as he sheathed his sword in there before it vanished from his hand only to appear as an icon on the empty slot of his inventory.

With that being said, Sakim dismissed the System as he put his gaze towards the many Cave Rats.

As if the one who actually learned Kong Fu, Sakim copied those people who he had seen in the many movies as he put a stance with a will to fight.

Sakim could see that these rats were now intending to fight him. He could even see their eyes flashing with a cold glint as their killing intent was being exuded.

"Come!" Sakim said. His confidence to defeat them had increased greatly when he learned that he could steal their life away with just a few moments of touch.

Even so, the feeling that he would have a hard time dealing with them still remained in his heart. But well, there was nothing he could do about it. Their numbers were really great as he was all alone. Dealing with them single-handedly would definitely give him difficulty.
