17 Chapter 17
While the Ghouls scavenged across the city for food, the sound of growling and groans was drowned out by the rain.
The numbers had multiplied far beyond anyone's expectations. The streets were filled with them. Unfortunately for the humans, they weren't the only problem they had to deal with.
In anticipation of further instructions, the military and organizations prioritized evacuation. In the meantime, the vampires roamed the city, abducting as many people as possible.
The situation was tense.
However, despite that.
*Hum* *Hum* *Humm*
In central London, a beautiful silver-haired girl wandered happily through the streets of Westminster. As she walked past countless empty buses, she stared at the screen on the phone in her hand.
She had crimson red eyes, pointy ears, and the scent of a vampire, so the ghouls who saw her walked by showed no interest in her. Unlike other Vampires, it was much easier for ghouls to make a distinction between a predator and prey.
They did not attack other predators.
She stared at the screen with a bright smile on her blushing face.
[Xavier: I'm heading underground, I won't get a signal down here so I won't be able to talk.]
[Xavier: Make sure you sure West and South London properly, if you find anything let me know.]
[Sangrea: I'll let you know.. <3]
-Memory
The phone she was acquainted with was an old phone without a camera or anything to do with social media. The only feature was a calling feature for her to call her family.
When he saw it, Xavier was both surprised and not surprised, but it didn't matter.
"Hey, tell me your name. I need to save your number." Said Xavier as he showed her his touchscreen with the digital phone pad."
Having never even been allowed to touch one before, she couldn't help but stare at it with sparkling eyes.
She was saddened that he had also forgotten her name, but understood why.
She mumbled with blushing cheeks, "Just make it 'My number one love.'".
"No, give me your name." Xavier repeated in a colder tone.
"Aww... S-Sangrea... Redblood..." She muttered embarrassedly
She wasn't much of a fan of her name, it didn't sound very feminine or attractive in her opinion. She was quite shy of saying it.
"Oh, badass."
Her ears twitched after she heard that, her blush grew stronger as she stared at him.
Xavier tapped on the save button on her screen. He patted her speechless figure before turning away to the underground station.
"Well then, ti'll next time.. Sangrea..." He said with a smile as he took a step forward.
Xavier was stopped after a single step however as the girl suddenly hugged him from behind.
"Be careful... You're still a Fletchling... I heard that a lot of Vampires die in this phase, so please..."
"Don't worry about that... Until I kill every last one of the Vampires who hurt my family, I won't die." Xavier reassured her.
*Drip* *Drip*
Her face started to well up with tears as she apologised once more.
"I'm sorry for making you a Vampire... Even though I said I wouldn't..."
Xavier didn't seem to remember this either. However, he did recall a dream he had of her. The one where he had a large gaping hole in his stomach and was on the verge of death. If it wasn't a dream then she had saved him.
"It's all right, being a vampire isn't all that bad."
"I quite like it in fact." Xavier responded.
"Really...?" She asked once more with a trembling tone.
"Mhm, thanks to it I'll be able to grow stronger, that way I'll keep everyone safe... And survive this apocalypse."
Xavier slowly turned after she loosened her hug before patting her on the head again. He was the same height as her, if not a little shorter, yet somehow it made her feel so at ease.
She lightly licked the edge of his palm before leaning towards it with her mouth without even realizing it.
Her fangs popped out, she was going to bite it. Yet seeing it, Xavier didn't stop her and instead-
"Eek-"
He pulled her in towards his neck.
"Xavi?" She let out in a confused tone as she stared at it.
"I drank your blood twice, we're bonded aren't we? If you're thirsty, drink mine." He said casually.
"H-Hm~ You've gotten a lot more bolder in just-"
Xavier pulled her head closer, pressing her fangs right against his neck as he interrupted her.
"Drink, stop acting smug. I know I took out a lot of energy when I drank your blood."
With her face red and her eyes sparkling she nodded before biting into his neck.
*Pierce*
She watched his expression lighten up slightly as she slowly sucked the blood out of him.
*Gulp* *Gulp* *Gulp*
It had just the right sweetness and density, it felt almost addicting as the more she drank the harder it became to let go.
But after a short while, she stopped as he clenched her shoulder and stared her right in the eye with his slit crimson pupils.
*Gulp*
She pulled her mouth away with a final gulp and the bite holes on his neck quickly faded after.

*Hum* *Humm* *Humm~*
*Slash* *Slash*
Overlapping her sweet soothing hums were the sounds of corpses being fallen. She decapitated all the ghouls passing by her without even noticing.
While she held a phone, her shadow held on to a scythe and swung it around without her moving. A wide grin could be seen on her shadow as it let loose.
Although her expression was sweet, the gory scene taking place around her as she walked past the ghouls made it frightening.
Ghouls who were lost in hunger could feel the danger of pursuing her, so without further thought they began to run and move away from her.
"Hm...?" She let out in confusion before tilting her head to the side.
By doing so, she noticed the giant dark sphere in the sky from the corner of her eyes.
After staring at it for a few seconds, she looked back down and carried on walking.
Three steps later, however, she suddenly halted before looking down an alley.
There was an old man wearing a butler's uniform inside the alley with glasses. Beside him was a short dark blonde haired maid.
They bowed their heads towards her, waiting for her orders.
"Search through all the Vampire camps in the area, see if you can find any leads on Xavi's family."
Sangrea knew about the Vampire camps, the reason she didn't tell Xavier however was because of the risk which came with it. Knowing him, he'd waltz right in there in search of his family, and, as a newly borned Fletchling, he'd die without knowing what hit him.
Therefore she kept it from him, even now she felt guilty, but it was for his own good.
Besides, there were quite a few amounts of camps around. Going through them all would take forever. Using a private network of information would be much more efficient.
"Understood." The maid replied.
Heather Violet-haired maid disappeared leaving only the old butler behind. There were four other Vampires in suits lurking in the shadows behind him. Each of them was tasked with watching over her.
"You go search too, I can take care of myself." She declared.
"You and I both know I can't do that. You were ordered not to get involved, and I was ordered to make sure you don't."
"The war is only beginning, let's not make this harder for the both of us."
Sangrea sighed.
"Tell 'him' to send some more people on the lookout. Because if something happens to his family, then even I won't just sit back."
"...Why him? Out of everyone, why that human?"
"…"
Without responding to him Sangrea walked on leaving the alley behind with a sigh. It was not necessary for her to respond to his question, and even if she had, he would not have understood.
"Perhaps it would have been better if he had died back then after all-"
Sangrea, who was many steps away, suddenly appeared before the butler with a scythe looming over his neck the moment he said that.
"Watch your mouth. I don't care if father favors you."
"I know you were the one who caused the 'accident'."
"Feel free to talk about me, but badmouth my husband again and you'll regret it."
A smile grew on the old butler's face.
"I apologise, it was only a slight slip of the tongue. Very well, we will be taking our leave and keeping a close eye on you."
*Clap*
With a clap, all of them dispersed, leaving a frustrated Sangrea behind.
Her scythe sank back into her shadow as she repeatedly stomped the ground.
She stomped away from the alley after swelling up her cheeks in a sulk.
"I won't let anything bad happen to you or them... Ever again..." She muttered as Xavier's face popped up on her mind.

*Step* *Step*
"Was it always this cold on the underground rails?" Xavier asked as he leapt over the boarding gates.
Around him was nothing but darkness only temporarily lit up by flashing lights.
