Reverse Apocalypse: The Devil's Revenge

Chapter 98 Family

Felicia and Jennie worried a lot about their families' well-being. They were very close to their family and it killed them on the inside that they couldn't reach them at all.

The internet had stopped working with the emergence of Arcane Power, and phone calls didn't work either.

In fact, all means of communication had been turned useless with the appearance of Arcane Power. This included the use of radios, the internet, phones, satellite communication and so on.

The two girls, who had just been enjoying themselves now that they were back on the surface after being in the sticky and musty underground for close to ten days, heard what Olivia asked.

They hadn't expected Olivia to ask Liam to change his plans for them, but she did.

It was obvious that they couldn't survive on their own.

None of them was strong enough to kill a monstrous existence such as the Shedim Champion Boss alone. Yet, Liam killed the monstrosity on his own. He had received some help at the beginning of the battle but that was already it.

The best solution would be to stay by Liam's side and convince him to help them look for their families…or at least take a look at them. If their family was safe and sound, both Felicia and Jennie would feel much better!

However, the two girls didn't dare to say anything. They knew that it was not easy to speak to Liam when it came to family matters. The few things the girls had heard about Liam's family, his relationship with them, and what they had done to him, were more than enough to understand that family was not equal to love, kindness, and care as per his point of view.

Thus, the girls remained silent while staring at Liam and Olivia. Without realizing it, Felicia and Jennie were giving each other comfort by holding each other's hands tightly.

"If they cannot survive on their own, then I don't know why they raised me like this," Olivia said with a frown in response to Liam's question.

It was not exactly an explanation but Liam could guess the intent behind her words. Olivia had been raised to be an independent, proud, and powerful woman. She expected the same from the people who taught her to be like this.

'For a native, it is quite impressive of Olivia to be able to stay that calm and trust that her family was doing well,' Liam thought. Olivia was clearly not that worried about her family, even though there was a glint of doubt in her eyes. She was still worried but trusted her family to look after themselves.

Felicia and Jennie's families were more important for the time being.

The only plan Liam had until now was to conquer the Underground Tower. The Saphirate Crystal Cave was a pleasant find, just like the Storage Rune, and so on.

He couldn't really make any plans without having any information about his surrounding area. He would have to know where he could acquire the most Arcanium in the shortest amount of time. That meant, the next few days would have to be spent on killing monsters while acquiring information.

Most importantly, it was also to make sure that Jennie wouldn't leave his side. Liam hadn't suddenly grown fond of Jennie, but her Soultrait had attracted his attention.

She was not a powerhouse or anything like that, but her Soultrait allowed her to find treasures. Relying on this Soultrait should allow Liam to become stronger, much faster than he had roughly planned at that. She had already earned him quite a bit, including a storage of Arcane Power equal to 10,000 Arcanium.

If that was not enough reason to hold Jennie close, Liam didn't know what else was.

'I can just acquire information while reuniting them with their families…I guess?' Liam wondered while looking over to Felicia and Jennie.

He looked at Felicia and wondered if he should just look for Jennie's family. After all, she was the only one of 'use'.

Almost as if Felicia understood what was going on in his mind, she rushed forward.

"I can find out whatever you want me to know! My Soultrait is called the Truth of Arcanium, and I can do basically everything as long as I spend enough Arcanium!" Felicia said while proving her words by manifesting a small golden lightning bolt between her thumb and the index finger.

"If you need information or something like that, I can provide it with great detail as long as I invest enough Arcanium!"

It was evident that Felicia was reaching out for empty air. She had already given hints about her unique Soultrait before. However, Liam hadn't seen them earlier. He was pretty sure that Felicia's Soultrait was related to a different personality that allowed her to fight valiantly like a crazed Berserker.

That didn't seem to be the case though.

"Can you tell if someone lies?" Liam thus asked, not even thinking about hiding that he was hooked.

"Of course, I can! I replicated Rex's Soultrait in a weakened version for a few seconds by paying 1 Arcanium. If I use more Arcanium, I can copy other Soultraits and even create new ones. It might cost a little more but I can simply ask my Soultrait if someone's words were the truth. That is what I did before we left the gymnasium.

I asked the Truth of Arcanium if you're lying and if you will kill us. If not for the answer I received, I wouldn't have joined you!" Felicia hurriedly said before she slowly steered the topic in the direction of her desire.

"My family members are fighters, you know. Well, my dad is a butcherer and he was a hunter in the past. My mom is a national level fencer…soo…"

Felicia stopped speaking all of a sudden. She looked at Liam, hope gleaming in her eyes.

Her intentions were obvious but that was not something Felicia was trying to hide. Otherwise, she wouldn't have acted so desperately before.

Liam thought about it and he nodded his head.

"Are your family members in this golden land for student's city, or whatever the city down there is called?"

The girls squealed out in joy and they felt like rushing to Liam and giving him a big hug. However, Liam's royal purple eyes stared down at them, subtly ordering them to calm down.

Jennie was the first to halt in her tracks and open her mouth.

"Th—..."

Before she could even finish the first word, Liam's head flicked to the right, his Devil's Eyes were fully unleashed and he shot forward.

Just a moment later, a crossbow bolt shot through the air with terrific velocity, reaching Jennie's head in no time.

Then…it impacted…
