Chapter 97 Surface
[1x 『Potion of Agile[Luck-based](C rank』has been purchased. 200 Arcanium have been deducted!]
A glass bottle with green contents appeared in Liam's hand as he and the girls made their way back to the surface. He removed the lid of the vial and swallowed the contents in an instant before throwing the empty bottle aside.
[『Potion of Agile(Luck-based]』–Circleless C Rank–
Description: The Potion of Agile increases the user's Agility stat by one sub-rank as long as the user's Agility stat has yet to reach [E]. If the user's Agility stat is higher than [E] the chance of a successful enhancement in his/her agility decreases drastically.
Remark: The Potion of Agile has a low chance to increase the user's Agility stat by up to three sub-ranks. May the odds always be in your favor!].
Liam didn't really believe in luck. He was pretty sure that his Agility stat wouldn't increase to the C rank all of a sudden.
That would be great, but the chance was infinitely low. In fact, he would be more than happy if his Agility stat increased by even one sub-rank. After all, his Agility was already at [D-]!
He was already glad when he felt a surge of strength coursing through his body. His body warmed and he felt a little lighter than before.
[The Host's Agility increased.]
'A bit of an increase is better than nothing. Definitely worth 200 Arcanium.'
Liam was quite satisfied with his gains. Liam was not sure how fast others would progress, or how long it would take before he would encounter more and stronger opponents but he felt that he was ready to face a few powerful opponents.
The Saphirate Crystals in the Early Birds Shop were slowly being sold and his Arcanium began to increase once again.
He also had the Livral Orb that could replenish his Arcane Power in an instant. There was no need for him to use potions to replenish his Arcane Power during a battle. While using the Livral Orb, it would be quite difficult for anyone to drain him of all of his Arcane Power. Killing him would be easier than draining his entire Arcane Power either way.
Arcanium may be more versatile because one could buy almost everything as long as one had enough Arcanium, but Liam was pretty sure that the Arcane Power stored inside the Livral Orb was better off staying there.
He had to use the Livral Orb to initiate the awakening of his bloodlines, either way. That was basically the most important reason why he had yet to figure out what to do with all the energy amassed inside the Livral Orb.
Awakening his bloodlines was something Liam had not been able to do so far. Liam had always rejected his bloodline because he loathed both sides of his family to the core. However, if he could use his bloodlines to take revenge on everyone who dared to take away the people he loved the most, it was only reasonable to accept them and awaken his bloodlines.
It was not as if Liam could change his family just because he loathed them just as much as they hated him. Awakened or not, the blood coursing through his veins didn't change.
When they reached the surface, the dazzling sun of the early morning greeted them. Felicia let out a squeal, revealing the bright smile everyone had gotten familiar with by now.
She ran around in joy, happy to be finally back on the surface.
Taking a few deep breaths of the fresh air, Felicia felt alive.
Jennie, infested by Felicia's joy, joined the girl. She ran up to Felicia and the two behaved like 5-year-olds, a sight that amused Liam. Felicia was being more playful than the way she did since Liam got to know her.
The Arcane Apocalypse had just started when Liam got to know Jennie, and their first meeting hadn't actually been that pleasant. Jennie had nearly been violated by several men at the same time. Liam had saved her out of instinct and because he wanted to earn some Arcanium, which had been quite fruitful at that time.
Meanwhile, Olivia remained next to Liam. She looked at the two playing girls with a faint smile on her lips and didn't say a thing for a good minute or two.
Liam and Olivia had noticed that both Jennie and Felicia had been deep in thought for the past few days. He didn't want to probe and appear nosy because they could simply say if something bothered them. Whether Liam would adjust himself or not was a completely different point though.
"You know, they don't really want to separate from you either. They can tell that you might be a little bit harsh on them and that you act like a jerk sometimes, but they also know that you want them to become stronger to survive what is bound to happen in the near future. They know that if they don't work hard, everything will crush down on them soon enough and that your words are exactly what they need to force themselves to keep working hard," Olivia started speaking.
She was not much of a talker, but today seemed different. Liam didn't know what awaited him but he would know soon enough.
"But both Jennie and Felicia are missing their families. During the entire week we spent underground, they worried about their families. They know that they're too weak to save others because it is already too hard for them to survive without your help.
From what you've told us, you hate your family. I, or rather, we don't know what exactly happened between you and your family, but I know that Felicia's family is kind, loving, and caring…So…if you have no detailed plan to pursue…can we make a short detour to take a look at their families?" Olivia inquired, carefully looking over to Liam to analyze his reaction.
However, there was not much of a reaction. That was a little unexpected in Olivia's opinion.
But what she expected even less was that Liam would look over to her and ask the question she had been trying to avoid to hear.
"What about your family? Do you not want to look for them?"
